TRS19 SP5 Official Release

Is there any way of changing the new "compass rose" back to the previous one? The new compass obscures the area in which I am working in. Terrible idea. Again, why fix/change a tool that worked perfectly fine. We should have ability to either go with the new "ënhancements", or keep that which has served us well for decades. But not have it set at default.....

Definitely agree. the old compass was discreet but effective. Like doing away with the grid, which yes can be returned by using the replace function, but really what purpose did it serve? It's not as if the grass texture chosen is seamless or tiles well, it looks bloody horrible!

"The -1 assets are from version 1.3. The -25 versions are from later Trainz builds. The older versions do not know about the newer versions."

It looks like I am running into a number of these. THey say they are missing dependencies, but when you list dependencies, none show as missing, BUT they do show -25 assets. So, will the database figure this out eventually, or is there some steps I need to take? I hate to think I need to hand edit all of these. They are causing dependent assets and sessions to be missing deps:

Absolutely agree! The thing is huge, and obfuscates the entire area where we try to work.

EDIT: @Zsuda: That simply removes it, not makes it smaller. Without it, orientation is difficult if you aren't sure which direction you are facing. Now, if the setting removed the huge Rose around it, and reverted to the simple gold cross, then it would be fine.

I got rid of the compass in TANE, don't miss it at all, first thing I disable. ;o)

I tend to remember which direction North is on my routes.

I did a small experiment on finding North when the compass rose wasn't visible. Place a sign at the North end of your route. Then, if you get turned around, go into the minimap and see where the sign is. I also kind of like not seeing the compass.

Yes I deleted the compass in the settings box. Not too bad as far as navigating around a layout. Preferable to that horrid new compass.

Removing the compass AND limit contextual information clears all of the spline point clutter until you actually need it, spline points only show where track and splines are being edited.

Hi all, did the update to SP5, and now having trouble with locomotives from Greencoast Studios, never had any trouble with them before. When placing the locomotive on the route, it is there, and when selecting and assigning a driver, the menu gives the indication as if the locomotive is deleted from the route. When the session is started in driver, the engineer is shown as "unassigned." Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try removing and replacing the loco. Also turn on script errors and check that the loco isn't throwing any script errors.

Hi Mr. Tony,

Here is what I was able to come up with. Not sure what all of this is telling me.

First in game bug report

Second - Content Manager Part 1

Content Manager Part 2

Last - from the Trainz Log

Thank-you again, I'm sure the fix is something simple. The other 2 locomotive models that are doing this, are doing the same thing.

Might just do that. Not really needed on a model layout and on a Transdem real route you can tell from the mapping overlay where north lies.

I have also turned off the compass as I found it obtrusive and all the extra mouse clicks and scrolls to avoid it were so unnecessary. I have been able to work with the old style compass but not this one. I am afraid it was not broken so why spend valuable time and resource "fixing" it.

The old one is very low res and a Trainz community member offered this version, which we quite liked. No-one in the past many months of testing has mentioned it either (that I know of). Perhaps they all have the compass turned off?

PRR1361 - The lesteamlocomotive.gs script is failing which results in the loco not being read into the Driver Setup rule. Greencoast studios will need to update their script to avoid the SendMessage error.

Tony, I have a small issue with Trainz SP5. Upon downloading I have observed that my computer fans are running at higher RPM's than they usually do when using Trainz before SP5. I set my graphics settings lower but to no avail. There also seems to be a higher RAM usage than before. Have a look:
These stats are while viewing the main menu screen, with Firefox open.

We don't directly control fan speed. In my layman's understanding, the game asks the CPU and GPU to do various things. What happens is based upon your hardware and your drivers. Faster fans probably means a higher temperature GPU. This could mean the balance between GPU and CPU is better and performance is better (or not).

In short, there is no "make the fans go slower or faster" code, so nothing we can do directly.

I have noticed no change in the operation of my system cooling fans before and after the installation of SP5 - and it is the end of summer here down under. Factors that can affect system temperature include a build up of dust within the system box, change in air humidity levels, background processes (such as Windows downloading and installing updates, virus checkers running scans, etc).

I must be the odd one out because I quite like the new compass. The old one was boring, to say the least. The new one can "get in the way of things" just like the old one did and I use just as many mouse clicks and scrolls to avoid it. So there is no difference there. Just because something is not broken does not mean it should never be improved or upgraded. By that same logic Surveyor 1.0 (Classic Surveyor) was not broken and worked perfectly well, so why do we need to upgrade it to Surveyor 2.0?

My opinions.
