Hello Everyone,

As we get close to release, Assertion errors are now turned off, and prebuilt shaders are now included in the build. This update includes a few more tweaks to the TCCP Export process as well as several bug fixes.

Change log: (125920 to 126123)
  • Prebuilt shaders are included.
  • Assertion Errors are disabled.
  • (Fix) Broken hotkeys after key bind update
  • (Fix) TCCP Export not correctly updating build submission status changes
  • (Fix) Classic Bulk Replace area select out of bounds
  • (Fix) Performance impact with effect layers while in map view
  • (Fix) Crash when merging of non-HD Routes

Known issues:
  • MPS is currently supported for this build - however support will be limited, and may be terminated without notice.
  • DBR Window is not displayed immediately after update. Note: This is an intended change - but will appear and show progress when Trainz is launched.
  • DLC Content will report "Failed to download precached data" - this error can be ignored and resolved by clicking on retry

Key Features:
  • Filter Palette
  • S20 Bulk Replace
  • TCCP Route Export
Filter Palette:
The Asset Filter Palette allows the Surveyor 2.0 user to designate which assets respond to tool execution (eg. placement or painting) and other commands. This is useful to allow editing of certain object types in the world without accidentally modifying other nearby-but-unrelated objects. This palette is also used for S20 Bulk Replace

Filter Palette Filter options:
  • Filter Disabled - Filter can be edited but has no effect. The assets listed on the Filter Palette can be used for S20 Bulk Replace without impacting the Asset Palette
  • Filter List - The Asset Palette is restricted to showing the matching assets specified on the Filter Palette
  • Filter Selection - In addition to Filter List, only the enabled assets can be selected in the 3D world instance
  • Filter Visibility - In addition to Filter Selection, only the assets enabled in the Filter Palette will appear visible in the 3D world instance. The rest will be made invisible and be deselected if previously selected.
S20 Bulk Replace:
Bulk Replace Filtered Assets is a new tool for S20. This tool is to be used in conjunction with the Filter Palette. This tool can be used to bulk replace both assets and ground textures.
To use this tool follow these steps while in Surveyor 2.0:
  1. From the Windows Menu, open the Filter Palette
  2. In the Filter Palette, search for the assets you want to be replace and ensure only those assets are toggled
  3. In the Filter Palette, set Filter Disabled
  4. In the Asset Palette, select the asset you wish to be used to replace the assets from step 2
  5. Right click on the assets/texture you selected from step 4.
  6. Select "Bulk Replace Filtered Assets"
** IMPORTANT NOTES **
  • Highlighting an asset on the Filter Palette does not impact Bulk Replace - Only assets toggled! Be sure you only have the assets you wish replaced toggled on in the Filter Palette.
  • S20 bulk replace applies to the entire route.

Route Export:
This is a new tool that will prepare a route for TCCP submission. It can be used on both local routes, and MPS Routes, as long as the user is the route owner, and the route is not payware.
  • "Publish Route to TCCP..." Can be found under the Sharing Menu
  • Used to export MPS Routes to TCCP in addition to local routes
  • New N3V Generic Log services
Useful tips:
  • Filter Visibility only works on assets - it will not work for ground textures
  • Some instances have parents, and can not be made visible unless their parent is - such as trackside objects requiring track
  • CTRL + Shift + A can be used to select all assets in the filter list, and toggling on/off one of these, will change all to on/off
  • TCCP Upload requires an account with the EULA accepted on TCCP
  • The TCCP Project window will populate the route's details. It does not automatically add any sessions. Sessions will be required to be added to the Project window manually
  • Keep the Filter Palette docked above the Asset Palette, will look and behave similar to how the Asset Palette behaved prior the changes.
Change log: (125735 to 125920)
  • TCCP Description no longer required on TCCP Export Window
  • TCCP Description will be locked after package creation (can be updated via TCCP website)
  • Closure of TCCP window no longer causes description error
  • Several MPS TCCP Export tweaks
  • TCCP Export Window will now refresh and list logs after Package Upload
  • Fix: Print Screen hot key
  • Fix: Height data loss for inserting spline points and cloning splines
  • Fix: Filters in progress will now reflect and show assets in progress
  • Fix: Misc MPS issues
Change log: (125409 to 125735)
  • Filter Palette defaults to Filter List when opened
  • Asset Palettes filter categories relocated to Filter Palette
  • 'Preset' filter category has been returned to Filter Palette
  • 'Custom' filter category has been removed from Filter Palette
  • Toggle Boxes artwork update
  • Localisation for TCCP Export Window
  • Fix: Trackside objects relocating with insert spline point
  • Fix: Asset Palette listing empty while Filter Palette disabled
  • Fix: MPS Random Object Rotation desync
  • Fix: Eyedropper tool selecting asset with different filter category was selected
  • Fix: Del key not working in description field (TCCP Window)
Change Log: (123794 to 125409)
  • Edit Route Detail: SD/HD option - Found in the Edit Route settings, a route owner can limit the type of edits made in a route. Able to be set and used in MPS Routes as well as local. SD will limit all edits, including HD edits at SD limits.
  • Select in Filter Palette - New option found in assets contextual menu. Opens the Filter palette and highlights the asset under custom filter.
  • Bulk Replace Filtered Assets - New option found right clicking an asset on the Asset Palette - to be used in conjunction with Filter Palette
  • Filter Palette - New palette found in the Windows Menu
  • Publish Route to TCCP - New option found in Sharing Menu for TCCP Route export
  • Show Logs List - New Logs found under Developer options on the Trainz Launcher
  • DirectX12 (Beta) - Option Removed
  • New Build Version 5.5
  • Misc. Bug Fixes

REMINDER:

The install went pretty quick. I had to run a manual DBR though because an automatic one didn't start even minimized.

There was about a dozen faulty but okay assets afterwards that cleared up fine. I have a duplicate install set up for testing. If everything appears fine, I may consider moving my stable build up to the same version.

This is one of the best builds yet. I haven't found anything to complain about and I've since updated my stable build to this version.

I started using build 125735 (released 5/17/2024) as my go to build because it resolved most of the erratic AI behavior. So, it's good to now have a build that no longer has assertion orders. It's good to know someone else has now made build 126123 their stable version instead of build 123794.

This update removed all my 100GB assets. Fortunately I had copy of my used Steam version catalog.
Edit: Ah another reset of my local data path in options. Nevermind. That was scary.:p

This build feels very smooth, because we had a few builds before with assertion stuff enabled
it runs very well on small and midsized routes,
but go try work on Brennerbahn 1291mb, then the trouble starts,
when trying to save I had to use taskmanager to get out.

Through the years a lot of effort went into Asynchronous loading
in normal language, only load where you are now, load more later when you move
the goal being unlimited size routes, think we are far from that.

DX12:
Directx 12 was released july 2015, 9 year later Trainz can still not work with it?
Does it require a complete new engine? What is the delay?

TLR:
TLR was introduced and fun to see some random industry movement
but it does not know runaround, is that too hard to program?
why cant we make sessions with preset which trains we want in the TLR pool running?

Then the much anticipated part 2 passenger scheduling, is still work being done there?

HD:
We can have a lot of ground detail with HD, but the wrong LODs(that we have no control over) are too visible
Dighole and the new color option seem to only work on 10x10m......
The difference between HD and SD is too visible
Not being able to edit HD in S1 is pure annoying as is a texture limit below the numbers used by Transdem=20.
The total size of a route can easy go beyond the .CDP limit without an easy alternative from N3v.

A lot of time is lost, trying to get users to make trees, fun it can be done
but cant we get the trains and interfaces working better first, it is a train Simulator.

BAR:
This build features Bulk Asset Replace also in S2
it works clumsy and with less options than we have in S1
if CTRL Shift A does not work, we lack a simple button in the interface doing the same.
Repeat, the most import replace, is replace a missing asset for one you already have.
The Missing spline ===== representation lacks in Trainz+,
thus you cannot replace a missing spline, TANE and TRS19 can !
After all these years we still cannot replace Bridges and Tunnels or (ghost)Trains

Many things are in the works that's good,
but I find myself still jumping back to 6 year old TRS19 100240
good luck with development
greetings GM

Hello,

It runs smooth, but I think it has created at least two problems for me in a route that I have used for years.
1. Textures overflowing the rails at many more places than in previous versions, almost everywhere. It's too much now. I know it is due to a mixture of texture types, PBR and not PBR. Changing Shadows or Texture Detail does not help.
2. Some stations platforms are no longer recognized. Train does not go there, while it did in my previous version (123794). The AJS platform number is neglected, at least for an AJS Station 1x50s.

Edit: but setting Shader Quality to Basic eliminates the problem. It is probably like before..., not changed.
Question: what do I lose with the shader quality set to such a low level?

Regards
Paul

Lumpy PBR textures as far as I can tell and that's not a bad thing. There are probably a bunch of things, but everything else seems to work okay for me without the PBR effect.

DX12 is shaping up to be a failure like DX10. Only a small number of games require it after all these years. The biggest problem is it has troubles running on Nvidia cards.

I read too at one time that DX12 requires a lot more development work than DX11 did and the end result wasn't as big as promised.

After reading all of the posts here, I think it’s finally time to get up to date from b123794. 👍🏼 The question is, do I need to install every beta update for 123794 in order to get to 126123, or can I update to it directly?
Cheers

I had to install every update. A disadvantage might be, that your payware routes you have installed in b123794 will show updates in the content store and these updates will install earlier versions of the routes.

You have to go through each available update. Remember that each updates runs a DBR so don't just shut down the program after the updater says it is finished. They are all small updates.

Thank you for all your feedback, as we have a new Trainz Plus Beta available, this thread is now locked.

Please post comments on the new thread.
