Trainz Update Announcement (SP5)

What's the problem? Saying something is broken doesn't help with getting the problem fixed because not everyone is experiencing the same "problem" or has the same assets installed. If it's a track issue, see my post on how to do that.

All because I can't load the 2nd trailer or the 2nd container that was from the same container or the trailer from the 1st one

Not really helpful

The first image, a screenshot of a trailer wagon with a loaded trailer, needed a bit more explanation. There are a several reasons why a second trailer may not have been loaded (if that is the issue) - none available at the loading point, trailer too big to fit a second one on the wagon. Did these work as you expected in previous versions?

Second and third images would not load/display so I have no idea.

Forth image was of a text label in a box - what is the issue here?

Fifth image showed a drop down list of products to be loaded (but I am guessing here) - again what is the issue?

The Previous Version (Pre-SP5) Works fine with me, I hop the old version of load trailers/containers could return

What that image (assuming it is the 1st or 2nd in the display) is showing is the legacy loading window which is still available.
  • In Surveyor select a rolling stock asset, open its context menu (press T or click its icon), select Edit Details
  • In Driver select a rolling stock asset, open its properties (Ctrl Right Click), select View Details

We are aware of some users experiencing issues with some track assets reporting incompatible spline when trying to place a track side asset. We are currently investigating the issue and cause.

The issue appears to affect assets installed in the previous build. Assets installed in the current build are not affected.

As a current work around, please follow these steps for impacted assets that have been installed from the DLS:

1/ Start Trainz Launcher
2/ Open Content Manager
3/ Search and select the affected track assets
4/ Right click selected assets and select Open.. -> Open for Editing
5/ Right click selected assets and select Submit Edits
6/ Right click selected assets and select Revert to Original

If the asset continues to to report incompatible spline, please try to delete the asset, then reinstall them from the DLS or a CDP.

For assets that are locally modified, please follow these steps:

1/ Start Trainz Launcher
2/ Open Content Manager
3/ Select the affected track assets
4/ Export the assets to a cdp file
5/ Delete the assets
6/ Reinstall the assets from the cdp file
I notice that if you can't add a track object to particular track asset you can still move a track object to it. For example, I like to use Track Wood Old which shows the incompatible spline message when trying to add a signal. To get around this I place a small section of NZR Tunnel Track, attach the signal to this track then use the move tool to move the track object to the Track Wood Old. I have tried all the fixes posted here and found that they either do not work or cause other problems. Now the Andrushivka-Vinnitsa package shows faulty.

No, that is still last build.

I suggest you check your update stream.

Follow these steps:

  1. From the Trainz Launcher, select Trainz Settings and select the Install Tab
  2. Click on Change Trainz update Stream
  3. Follow the prompts and until the prompt shows "Select the patch stream... " and "Stream: XXXXXX XXXXX"
  4. On this prompt, there should be a "Change Stream..." button. Click on this
  5. From the drop down option select TRS22 (based on your build - Trainz Plus users will select Trainz Plus)
  6. Click on Done
  7. From the same Install Tab on Trainz Settings, select Check for Trainz updates...
After the update is performed, you should be on build 128487
On the main system 126273 I get patch not viable checksum mismatch, operation failed.

It would be nice if I could cut and paste the error messages.

Suggestions? Does it need to be run in an admin account?

On the laptop it shows build 117655, that one is only used for testing occasionally. The patch failed as well so I just deleted everything that says N3V, first in apps then eventually in the files and I'll reinstall it later. Even though TANE shows in the apps it doesn't point to anything.

This is fairly basic stuff, being able to delete in windows should work and not just show TANE for everything.

At a business level, selling DLC which doesn't work after an upgrade may reduce confidence and your future sales of DLC. This isn't payware this is N3V branded payware and the expectations were higher.

Thanks for the graphic, it makes things a lot clearer.

The first thing I noticed was in the Commodity Level data - it identifies two queues (trailer0 and trailer1). The second thing I noticed was that each queue has a maximum of 1 trailer waiting to be loaded. Now my understanding of queues is limited but I have always had the impression that where several queues are available with product to be loaded Trainz will select one at random and load the product from that queue only. If this is the case then it would not matter which queue was selected, each had only one trailer unit to load. Can you change the number of trailers available in each queue to 2 and see what happens?

John, Yes I would try and run as Admin 1st, if possible. May be a dumb question in your case but AV, FW and/or other program of any kind isn't blocking/detecting checksum errors on update file(s)? 126273 should be a straight shot update to SP5. However 117655 is a RC version of TRS22 and an update auto-patch would bring it up to 119451. You may need to either ditch the RC version by going backwards to a version before the RC, if that is even possible or update incrementally. I would try going forward and backwards only as a last resort. Build 117504 was before your RC. Too much of a PIA for me.. I'd "blow it out", reinstall latest, if that's what you want and the put data back. https://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki...rainz_Railroad_Simulator_2022_and_Trainz_Plus Goes w/o saying..back everything up. What?

Nah, you're still young! Trainz is very tweaky, I mean geeky.

I think this issue has something to do with caching. By reinstalling the track, it updated the cache.

I'm glad it's working for you.
Now if I can figure out how to remove the overlay for AWS, because it's still there even though the rules were removed.

To fix the problem I delete the asset and then reinstall from the DLS, as mentioned above. This has worked in all the "incompatible spline" I have encountered so far.

"Process objects behind camera" cannot be disabled after the update. I tried restarting the game, but it's always on anyway. Can someone check it on Steam game version?
Same problem on Mac OS Ventura 13.7.2 (app store) and same on Steam version - "Process objects behind camera" cannot be disabled, Another main problem is that in session when change camera modes textures on objects disappear until the game is restarted
To avoid similar questions in the future, I created a ticket and this is the support response:

"The option to disable "Process objects behind camera" was removed from the Trainz Launcher settings as it is no longer a supported option.
The option remained in the Video Settings tab of System menu settings by mistake. Toggling this setting will not change it, and it will be removed next update."

Tis a very big update for the TRS 2022 (over 12 gigabytes).
One will wait for a while until settled as with comments noted above.

Would we have to update any purchased layout packages or KUIDS from the download station after the update has installed ???

If this is the Steam version, then the entire folder with the game occupies 13.6 GB.
It will be easier to delete the game via steam and delete SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Trainz Railroad Simulator 2022 game folder, if there is still any left, it will take a few seconds and then reinstall.
This will not affect all personal data, settings, etc.

Is that a guess or do you have a reason behind it? I note you are a Mac user.

Thanks John

Thanks John
Yeah it's a wild ass guess.. Sure.. I took my time to write it up in order to try and help you. What the hell does me using a Mac now have to do with anything? I cut my teeth in DOS and utilized and administered Windows and Linux systems up until 2016. Yeah I'm stupid and I just spout things off when trying to help someone. Maybe I'm a retard in your eyes when it comes to Trainz and you don't want to accept my help? Take it or leave it bud.

The reason the question was asked was to try to get a definitive answer out of N3V. They aren't terribly good at working with Windows for example TS22 and TS19 both show as TANE and they don't delete cleanly. I'm fairly familiar with windows having a background in corporate infrastructure. So yes your guess was a fairly good one and one I would have made myself but it would be nice to have it formally confirmed. I normally run Trainz in a standard account and just drop in a password on an admin account when it needs it but the problems seen in SP5 unless you're very lucky seem to suggest a sort of throw at the wall and hope it sticks approach. If any of my programmers had ever taken such an approach I would have taken them down for a talk over a coffee first before taking further action if it was repeated.

Yes I did some work in Linux but to be honest it always seemed more effort than it was worth. It would take us much longer to do routine tasks in UNIX than in Windows although getting the money to upgrade windows to the next version was always a problem.
