Trainz Living Railroad: Dispatch Manager & Coal Country HD Terrain

Streamlining Train Dispatch with the Living Railroad Dispatch Manager

Managing the complexities of a bustling railroad system is no easy task, but the new Living Railroad Dispatch Manager is here to simplify the process. This feature, designed for Trainz, centralizes the control and management of dispatch tasks, industry chains, and driver activity into one intuitive interface. Let’s dive into how this game-changing addition enhances gameplay for both hands-on operators and strategic managers.

This feature has been released for Trainz Plus members.

Why the Dispatch Manager Matters

Previously, managing the Living Railroad system required navigating multiple windows to uncover issues or monitor industry chains—a time-consuming and inefficient process. The Dispatch Manager addresses these pain points by providing:

  • Issue Discovery: Quickly identify and resolve problems like stuck drivers or missing goods in industries.
  • Task Management: View active and potential tasks, claim them as a player, and generate automated instructions.
  • Comprehensive Overview: Monitor current dispatch activity, industry processes, and railroad health from a single window.

Key Features

  1. Centralized Settings: Adjust global Living Railroad settings, such as toggling dispatch on/off, restarting stuck AI, or delaying AI task assignments. This streamlines control over the entire system.
  2. Filterable Lists: Use robust filters to focus on relevant items like industries, trains, or passenger stations. Search by keywords to locate specific tasks, commodities, or users.
  3. Real-Time Updates: Changes take effect immediately, allowing you to react quickly to dynamic gameplay scenarios.
  4. Task Claiming: Players can claim undispatched tasks or pause ongoing ones, enabling hands-on control of specific objectives.
  5. User-Friendly Layout: A clean, resizable UI integrates seamlessly into gameplay, offering all relevant information without unnecessary clutter.

How It Improves Gameplay

The Dispatch Manager empowers players to engage with the Living Railroad system in new ways. Whether you’re a hands-on operator or a behind-the-scenes strategist, this tool enhances your ability to:

  • Quickly assess and resolve dispatch issues.
  • Seamlessly transition between freight and passenger operations when TLR: Passenger Support is released.
  • Claim and manage tasks with minimal effort.

The Living Railroad Dispatch Manager is more than a tool—it’s your command center for building and optimizing a thriving railroad network. Let us know how it transforms your gameplay and share your feedback as we continue refining this powerful feature!

Read the Trainz Living Railroad documentation for additional information on Dispatch Manager and TLR in general.

This update also brings with it...

Downloading now - 12.9GB. Then to download the update for TRS22PE and my Trainz Plus beta versions - it could be a long afternoon. Nothing else to do as a howling gale is blowing outside, railway overhead powerlines are down, trees blocking tracks and roads all over Sydney, even the ferries have been cancelled due to heavy swells in the harbour - and all in the middle of summer.

So is build 128486 a official release?.
That is what is now says on my Trainz Plus without any qualifying text such as Assertions release, so it must be it.

When starting Trainz from the Launcher for the first time you now see the DBR progress window run and complete before the Startup Screen appears

Pware, thats what it looks like to me. I wonder what bugs have been fixed in this build 128486.

I can confirm that the window maximise/minimise bug in the session editor has been fixed in both Trainz Plus and TRS22.

Routes and session created in this update now have an asset build number of 5.6 (prior to the update it was 5.5). So if, like me, you have beta versions and TRS22 installed you will need to update them as well so that they can load the routes and sessions you create in the update.

There is a known issue with some DLCs and MPS Routes. If you have a MPS Route, please read this report:

After a mild bit of panic, as pguy says above you have to click the Start Trainz button in the Launcher to load the DBR progress box. As it was already ongoing in the background I'm really not sure why that window couldn't pop up after loading the launcher

Still installs as "TANE" and still doesn't delete the registry key of previous version.

Downloaded and installed fine. DBR completed.
But, and there is always a but, I now cannot place signals on the track as it is saying 'incompatible spline'.

TRS22 Standard Edition, Steam version updated too: https://steamdb.info/depot/1784571/history/

SP4 had 5 errors, SP5 has now become 44 errors after DBR:

Also, for the Steam version, need to update all the built-in routes via the Trainz store:

After update all the built-in routes via the Trainz store 39 errors remained.

Just tried an EDBR but no change. Cannot add any trackside object to track but can add rolling stock.
Anybody else having this issue?

Downloaded 12.9Gb quickly (@560Mb/s which is relatively fast for Trainz servers) and validation and installation completed in less than 3 minutes. What took twice as long was the silent DBR (382 seconds!) which I observed via 'Show client logs'.
Ran TrainzUtil 'Prebuild' to precache the new assets.
Start up was swift and my routes and sessions appear to run well. Testing TLR with this new build using the same route I used to test in the most recent beta builds. Looks good and functions properly now.

Just tried an EDBR but no change. Cannot add any trackside object to track but can add rolling stock.
Anybody else having this issue?
I have just created a new route, laid one piece of track and I can add trackside objects, but if I try to add trackside objects to any of my old routes (pre update) I get 'incompatible spline'.
Any suggestions please. I don't want to lose 13 years of work.

I have encountered some issues: in Route, placing a section of track asset may cause the problem of not being able to place the trackside on the track. However, after my testing, it seems that the result is as follows: when the status of a track asset is packaged, the trackside can be placed on it, while other statuses (such as Modified, Built in, etc.) of track assets cannot place the trackside on it. At least for now, this is the case here.
Every attempt will prompt:
"Incompatible Spline"。
And I also tried creating a new Route to try, and the result was the same.
Attention: Everything was normal before the SP5 update, but this issue occurred after the update.
It seems to be caused by the SP5 update. What should I do?
(I used a language translator)

This update took a while for me on my slow Internet connection (living in the boonies sucks at times). I was a bit concerned that this update was going wreck havoc on my latest route build as I had not run my backup for the day (would have lost 36 hours worth of work and that is a lot). After the update I saw a lot of faulty dependencies listed (which really concerned me) which places the exclamation point on related routes (paid and my own), but it appears all were corrected (this is all post update and pre database rebuild). I say this as a don't panic moment for those of you that see this come up after the update. It will correct itself. Of course I can only speak from a Trainz 22 PE standalone (Steam), but still. I will admit my many years modding GTAV with LSPDFR trained me not to get super angry or panic when an update like this appears to be problematic. If you know how that mod breaks after every game update, you'll get it.

I too can confirm that the minimize button for the sessions windows is fixed and works in TRS 22 PE standalone. I have not tested out if it will still crash back to the desktop (yet) as I use commands (Set Junctions as an example) that open the secondary config windows (the crash happened due to the config window opening behind the full screened main menu, when trying to cancel it if that makes sense).

Sadly the one thing I noticed that isn't fixed in this update is the high power draw on my GPU (Radeon RX6600 Eagle) the high revving fans reminds me of my server room days. Trainz 22 PE is the only game in my library that does this, and yeah it's a long time known issue for a long time from what I have read. Anyway that is a discussion for another time.
