Trainz Update Announcement (SP5)

I used another option to fix everything that is possible at once.
Close the game. In the default directory if it has not been changed: %LOCALAPPDATA%\N3V Games\trs22
Leave folders only (do not delete):
packages - Purchased content
original - Downloaded from the DLS
local - Installed from other sources
backups - Backups, if you need it
Delete all other files and folders. After that make a DBR (or it will start automatically after launching the launcher.) and next you will need to log in to your account in the launcher and make the settings again.
Thank you so much 🙏🙏🙂 your way works for my Trainz 2022 SP5 STEAM version.... Now no more "incompatible spline" bug on the tracks. Very easy method 👌👍

I have the same issue just like another poster. I am unable to download and install due to a data mismatch error. I use Norton, but this installation folder is on the do not touch list. I am currently running Trainz22PE(SP4/126273). I was able to update to SP4 so something is different. I did try downloading numerous times, but the end result is the same. I did double check the update stream to make sure it is for TRS22.

Having difficulty placing track objects onto track. I keep on getting a 'Incopatible spline" error on the screen. This has only happened since I updated to SP5. Before that, I had no problems. Is this a bug on this service patch? Wasn't there before.

Any chance of a return to having the option of switching off ‘Process objects behind camera’? FPS now half what they were on my detailed route thanks to this. Seems such an unnecessary change in SP5

I still see it in Trainz Settings / Video Settings, third line from the top.
Not via the Launcher but when Start Trainz has been opened.

This is not a bug, N3V stated they removed this option but forgot to delete it in the menu.
If it's there and doesn't work, it's a bug. Once it's gone, no more bug. Whether it would be useful to still have it is another question.

Interesting, I generally don't change that but a bug report has been submitted.

Yes it would! But as I may be in the minority here I'm not holding out much hope of a return so instead I'll review the extent of detail along my route. But I do not understand why a workstation benchmark of 145% and a GPU of 160% can result in such naff FPS, which took a nosedive upon installing SP5.

Try lowering your textures to "Basic". This is the old "Standard' setting in TRS19 and previous to SP3 or SP4 TRS22 and relations. While PBR textures lose their 3d effect, the performance goes up and your graphics card will run cooler. The other advantage is you also lose the jellyfish guts effect on slopes and cliffs.

Having to do this, even with my RTX3080, makes me wonder if the graphics requirements were upped for TRS22 and up compared to previous versions.

I only have Low, Normal and High in the Texture detail selection box.

I have also noticed that shadow resolution is now tied to shadow quality. Medium quality shadows use 2048 resolution and changing shadows to high also changes to 4096 resolution. The ability to independently change shadow resolution has been removed. Increasing shadow quality still increases the number of objects that cast shadows.

This is in the performance settings located in the Trainz settings on the Launcher, not in the program itself.

Hmm... I didn't notice this change. That's good to know.

hmmm, mine only has Low, Normal and High
