Trainz Update Announcement (SP5)

Not suggesting this is an SP5 issue (although I am on SP5), but I've noticed in the logs that it is constantly trying to validate assets when running a session, but then 'skipping' this because the asset is locally obsolete. Is this normal? Seems like a lot of processing is going on for no reason.

Packaged assets can't be deleted. For the track that's in DLC packages, highlight the track in Content Manager, right-click and choose Revert to original.

The whole set is available for download from Jointed Rail. You need to sign-up to download freeware and purchase payware. If you install any track, revert any packaged assets because they will be left open for editing.
Revert to Original did not work. Will try Jointed Rail

There's another way. You will need to delete and reinstall the track again.

In Content Manager, click on the small arrow next to Installed to open up a window to add other commands.

Click on the Plus-sign (+) to add more commands.
Scroll the window to show Category.

This will default to Achievement.

Scroll that until you find tracks.

In the search window located in the upper right, put in RTXT to search for that track.

Select all the RTXT track.
Right click on the selected track and choose View assets in a new window.

Highlight the track and delete the assets - right-click and choose delete.

Reinstall the track again.

This actually worked 0_0 Thanks!!

Since the update, I am having textures, including PBR textures, actually warp and change in height relative to track splines simply based on the distance from the camera is from the area. If gliding toward the focus area, the elevation of the texture will rise and cover the track. If the camera is moving back away the texture fall back to a lower position. This is all since the SP5 update..... Any solutions?

Performed as directed and didn't change my issues....

Have not been affected by this problem.
As far as I can remember have NOT done a EDB repair. Since updating the build.
And will try to remember NOT to do one until fixed....

Will doing a Normal DB repair also have this effect.????

Is there any way to find out if a normal DB repair has been done..?

Hi Zec,

Will a ...developer/run trainzutil command/prebuild... upset the above workaround linked to in post #289? I find I have to run this command quite frequently in TRS2022PE retail copy build 128487!

Rob.

So service packs break things that were not broken before? In that case can one not install the service pack and wait for the bugs to be fixed before installing it?

That is certainly an option. Just keep ignoring the reminders that an update is available - you can set it so that it will remind you less frequently or not at all. Then wait for the announcement of the "update to the update" - it may be called SP6 (or "HF" for "Hot Fix") - and then install it.

Forgive my ignorance but I was unable to find anything mentioned about the bug that disables the ability to fully load Intermodal Doublestack well cars and TOFC flat cars. Is this actually how the manual loading system is intended to be now?

The workaround and hotfix are only to address the track objects issue as stated in the announcement.
The new loading dialogue is a feature, not a bug. It has been introduced as part of Trainz Living Railroad.

What's up with the tracks disappearing after you lay them and then undo your work? Anyone else having that problem? It's happened to me twice already which has resulted in tracks being deleted or triggers moved out of position or deleted and I'm tired of it.

I would have thought that that was expected behaviour. Lay a segment of track and then undo (Ctrl + Z) the track just laid should vanish.

I just tried laying two consecutive joined track segments and, with the second segment still highlighted, I hit Ctrl + Z. The highlighted track segment disappeared (as expected) and the highlighting moved to the previous track segment. Nothing unexpected there.

If in S2.0, it is possible to accidentally double click on a single track segment and thus select everything between two junctions. If a single segment is long it might not be obvious that too much has been selected.
