Trainz Plus Beta TLR Phase 3 - 132513

Got it working from Skegness, i cloned the ECML and then added an interactive AJS platform.
TLR then found some lines from there to Retford, Grantham and Peterborough. So i am just letting it drive to Grantham, to see what happens.
Not sure if it will auto stop at any intermediate stations (interactive) on the line.
No problem Colin, good luck.

Mike.

So i generated lines from Kings X Plat 8 which is an interactive platform. Dispatch Manager shows i have 40 lines from Plat 8 and then the whole lot just froze solid in the process.
Needing ctrl alt delete to get out of the game.
This seems even more complicated than trying to create a normal session.

Mike.
We are aware of a line generation bug that causes a hang. Please retry this in the next release build. You can also try to manually create a passenger line.

Laurence no idea how to manually create a line using TLR sorry. No worries continuing in the next build (y)

Hi Mike,
I’ve found that creating a list of station in the driver set up (session edit) will allow the transfer of the route to the DLR! Alternatively, you can use the dispatcher view to select a station, then edit a line.

I haven’t been able to use an invisible station on a test track (yet!). I suspect that the industry.gs isn’t up to the requirement…

I’m intregued to see if a multi track terminal works with the DLR - maybe I’ll try the Westbury to Paddington route.

And we didn’t need to drop everything to get to Scotland - probably indigestion rather than heart problems (but tanks to the NHS for providing an ambulance ASAP, and the Kirkaldy hospital for rapid diagnosis to prevent us from rushing up to Fife!)

Regards to all,

Colin

I'm unable to answer that. I can say the issue is being investigated and it seems Apple broke something at the OS level.
They released Mac OS 26.0.1 today so I will check today if everything is fixed. If it is still happening then I know that is an issue. Thanks Laurence

Hi Colin, nice one thanks for the info. I will have a go at doing that in session edit then. The AJS ones seem to work for me, but ECML is too large to try converting all the stations for testing purposes.
Paddington - Westbury is a good route. Not sure if it has active stations though. S&C probably has so i might try testing with that.
Good news regarding your mother in law, all ended with a good outcome.

Hi,
Paddington to Westbury was interesting! All the station are als ones, while the “drive to”, “navigate to” commands work with the station names, the DLR only use the ads descriptions. As a result, it doesn’t find any lines to use.
Interactive station are available for 1,2,4 tracks, but building a terminus or major interchange station from components isn’t that easy… (e.g. York, Kings Cross).
I see a hint that there’s likely another beta, so we’ll see if there’s any changes.
All the best,
Colin

Hi buddy, yes early days yet and i must admit i do not fully understand the TLR passenger operations.
Created a navigate to interactive stations on the S&C route, Skipton to Carlisle. Then assigned the driver of the consist to the driver dispatch function.
Consist did move, but do not see the point in that way of working. As the same outcome would have occurred under normal AI operations., Colin.

Cheers,
Mike.

I think the answer there is that not everyone wants to work with Session Rules and the Session Editor to automate their route operations. In my experience creating a fully automated session involves a lot of programming, debugging, head scratching, repeat. It can take as long as the route development itself.

The TLR provides (or will provide) a simple shortcut for those who do not have the time, skills or interest in session development even if the actual train movements do not always (or even ever) match what would be expected in a real railroad.

Agree buddy, i don't really want to mess about with session rules and creating them manually. I have never fully understood how it all works, much to complicated for me. Yet i can create a scenario in TSC, no problem.
Yup that is what i was hoping with TLR passenger operations. Plonk a couple of consists down choose a destination and assign to Dispatch Manager. Problem is as well, loads of routes are built without interactive industry station platforms.
Just using markers as platform destinations. There needs to be a way in TLR to be able to also utilise those markers as viable station destinations.

I can also see this as an addition to regular sessions. A user can set up AI and let them handle the mundane passenger commuter schedules while the user is driving their own trains. This is what many of us do now manually, or at least I do that. It took me about two hours to get all my AI-driven trams up and running on my Gloucester Electric route.

The nearly dozen drivers go about their journeys, sometimes for hours, on the nearly 8-mile main line should they drive end to end from West Gloucester to Eastern Point with some drivers handling the Gloucester branch and other in between and through routes, while I'm off switching the docks and industries.

I tried TLR briefly with this route and found that it was like rounding up a bunch of fleas. I gave up for now since I don't have much time at the moment to play around with it.

Setting up a Driver session isn't that difficult. What I don't like about it is how the interface has been locked down in recent Trainz versions. In TS12 and below, we could easily scroll around the map, click on track marks on the tracks to add them as needed, and easily see things on the map in map-view. Today, we have to remember complex track mark names then pick them from the list. The sad thing is, I doubt we'll see any improvement with that as N3V pushes towards the console-mode of adding driver schedule, i.e., TLR.

Thank you for all your feedback, as we have a new Trainz Plus Beta available, this thread is now locked.

Please post comments on the new thread.
