Chinese ScreenShots

Oh yeah, ironically, the first signal i had to place was a right-hand drive signal. Of course it means I don't have it.

in the rar file, the bridges aren't working, i though i should let you know.
The cdp will display 'unable to find user tag'
The bridge did work on my PC, I am not not sure but maybe you should rename them cause they are written in Chinese.

DF4B current state

I did a few minutes work on the DF4B today and adjusted the lighting effects. This is the loco in daylight:

...and here at night.

I may be able to improve on this a little and I will replace the coupler with another mesh I have in by bits box.

Do you have permission to use the MSTS DF4B sounds in TRS?

Cheers

Hi, Dave.
There is another question about the skin of the loco. From all the locos I have downloaded, I found some of them look clear on the side when I see them at the view I show in the pic, and some of them are not. In fact, photo-reskin does't look clear usually but do you know how to solve that kind of problem? Was the creator just paint the mesh, like Paint Shed?
Anyway, I will give an example of two different VL65s I have downloaded.

1 Always clear whatever the points of view you see.

2 Not clear, especially the point of view I showed.

Dear Afu,

Basically, this depends on the texture resolution. For loco body texturing, using resolution lower than 512px is not advisable. Auran Jet engine and older graphic cards don't allow screen miracles to happen.

The most used method consist of making a 1024*1024 or 1204*512 .tga sheet where you can include the main body textures, details and maybe letterings and logos.

Excellent! Thank you, Dave! The creators released the sounds for public, so we may just use them, you can find them at http://www.trainsimchina.com/cgi-bin/lb5000/tsforums-7-0

Hi Leo,

Before I would be prepared to mess with these sounds and potentially upload to the DLS I would need to see an English version of the licensing terms. Sorry but my Chinese is non-existent. :(

The fact that they have been released for use with MSTS does not mean we are free to edit them and then redistribute them from the DLS. We need clear permission to do so and I would need to quote that in the upload description/license.

We would also need something similar that covers the original mesh and texture files I'm afraid. I realise this is a hassle but you have to be very careful when it comes to doing things with other peoples' intellectual capital.

Cheers

As Alberte has said, this is probably to do with using different resolutions of texture files. The higher the resolution the more likely the model will look good at all angles but the increased impact on the games performance.

As the vehicle is viewed from an angle the textures are distorted by the rendering processes in the game and the graphics card. With lower resolution textures this becomes more apparent. Graphics cards have the ability to apply ansiotropic filtering and anti-aliasing to counteract these effects (can't remember which copes with this particular problem) which can be an expensive process in terms of graphics card work. Try increasing the level of these you have configured for your graphics card.

Hi, Dave.
OK, I am going to ask them if they would give us a licence, thanks for your advice.

Thanks! I will try to change the set of my graphics cards and see if it works. :p

Hi Guys. Current state of the night lighting on the DF4B. I don't think there is an awful lot more I want to do it. I've replaced the couplers with a more substantial version that look more in keeping though it is actually an American coupler.

You can download this version from http://www.fileden.com/files/12269/DF4B_alpha5.cdp

Hi, Dave.
The test has been done. The couplers look perfect, and I haven't seen any Chinese coupler better than yours, thanks!
As usual, I am sorry to tell you some errors.

1 The number fo the loco is missing
screen004nf4.jpg

2 Maybe it's the error causes by Auran. :(

Two windows are been added magically when you see it in different distances.

Hi, Dave.
I am sorry that I have to say some comments about the engine lights.:( Sorry to annoy you, in fact, I think if we can disable the engine light and the transparence of the side windows, cause we don't have the texture about the interior of the loco, it means that it's is hard to make a 3D interior, if we do that, it may cost a lot of your valuable time, so I decide if we can just ignore this work and using the window textures I photoed, also if we have a lot lights on the sides, it will looks a little messy. Anyway, can you reduce the bogey lights effects again and make them look like lights point, thanks! Also thanks for your works before!

:)
Leo

This a Russian loco has 3D interior, so it will be fit for making the engine lights.

Hi, Dave.
Just making an example, I prefer the bogey light effect like that, thank you!
