Billboard trees/grass and splines in Trainz 12

I've been seeing some pictures where people have used grass spines or billboard trees in trainz12 and they look great. Whenever I use them, they get a funny border around them and they look bad. Can someone tell me what to set stuff at like graphics and what not to make the items look good?
 
Chadd04: You might try to change from Direct X to OpenGL..The reason I say that is I sometimes change it and it kind of gives a kick in the pants..And makes a difference in my trees..
 
What looks good in Ts 2004/2006 do not look so good in Ts 2010/Ts12 as you have the billboard effect. The billboarded trees by Clam1952 does not have this issue and it has to do with the light settings when exported into Trainz.

These splines are re-coded so that they do not have this issue:

Screenshot from a test scene...These splines close to the track did have this issue but when I changed the settings, they looked ok in Ts12. No obvious billboards.

If you want to dive into this issue there are some threads (by Clam1952) that explains how to find the correct settings to avoid it.

Thanks for the help guys. I think i finally played around enough and got my settings so that things look good enough for me anyways.
