Moira station is almost looking complete now with my new signal box created from the only photo I could find of it's small platform box and sideway staircase. It was in use from 1899 to 1925 when the signals were then worked from the East Junction Box. After which it lost it's nameboard and was eventually removed by 1950s.
Excellent work with recreating Moira station George and your new signal box is a particularly nice model.

Best regards,

Where did did you get that Midland Railway 1400.

Bournemouth West so far - the pine trees in the background have given the area a whole new feel. I'm going to move up the line to Corfe Mullen and do some work there as otherwise I can see Bournemouth West done 100% including detailing while everything else is neglected! I think I've made all the buildings that I need to so this feels like a good time to move to another section. Worthy of mention are Chris's excellent new starter signals - thanks Chris!

The two shots below show an overview of the station area and then show two trains awaiting departure; the Lord Nelson will be taking a train to Waterloo while the M7 will be going to Brockenhurst via Wimborne.

Eastbound train emerges from Gresley Tunnel half a mile west of Woodville Junction as a goods crawls past a broken signal at danger after taking a token from the signal box.

Thundering past Moira Junction West and the abandoned Overseal Station, disused northern terminus of the Ashby & Nuneaton Joint Railway since the LNWR obtained running powers to Ashby in 1890.

WIP shots. A rather pleasantly hectic area of the route is taking quite a bit of time to finish.

On the lead up to the Gresley Tunnel are a series of yards and sidings for the various collieries and pottery works and also for traffic heading onto the Swadlincote loop via Woodville Junction.

On the right is Union Pottery and Donington Sanitary Pipe and Fire Brick Works, and on the left is Reservoir Colliery and Canal Pottery Works where there will be a large canal wharf and terminus of the Ashby Canal.

I hope you're all well!

On a forgotten part of my empire , Sherburn House station was closed to passengers in 1930 and to all traffic in 1960. However II like my stations tidy so here it is with a J39 heading a Durham Miners Gala special to Durhaam Elvet. The floating nameboard will be dealt with shortly !

Later in her journey the J39 passes over the attractive bridge over the river just outside Durham Elvet station. Sadly this has been demolished except for the end arches.

This are lovely shots. I do love a rural branch station. I was just looking at the old maps. Is the branch off to the right behind the signal box the track up to the Tile and Brick works?

The railways here had a complicated history but Disused Stations has a decent little article here http://disused-stations.org.uk/s/sherburn_house/index.shtml

In this photo from the excellent Britain From Above site you can see the Durham Elvet bridge - I've not found any close up photos of it. Have you searched this site for photos of the area you are modelling ?

When I made my remark about liking my stations tidy I forgot about nearby Sherburn Colliery station where the weeds have been growing since 18th July 1941. The station saw occasional excursion trains after that and the nameboards were repainted in BR(NE) orange paint but there's no orange nameboard on the DLS long enough for the name. Here's a Syphon (Class 37) hauling coal empties northbound.

Not the most scenic shot in the world but I've quite literally spent all night on this - the embankments have been beyond fiddly and the PC very nearly went for a flight out the window but I've managed to find some compromise which has produced the below. It's a lot clearer than my last effort anyway! One of my ongoing battles with Trainz is skewed embankments; the solution I've settled on are embankment 'fillers', that is, static embankment assets that 'fill' a gap left by splines. It's not perfect, and I can't really see how a better system would work but I think it's an acceptable solution. What are people's thoughts? The main downside to the fillers are the long wing walls on the west side but I don't think they look ridiculous.

Angled bridges are the bane of my life as I use SAM embankments and he only has a couple of angled bridges. I know there are a few NEX FMA angled bridges but they are incompatible with SAM embankments unless you use Transition pieces.

They are a right pain in the backside, I used to use the SAM embankments but when developing Swanage samplaire kindly gave permission to reskin the embankments to match 2995valliant's ground textures and we only had a few done, so I'm somewhat limited!

The embankments used in the screenshot however are actually my own; I've made embankments to the same profile as samplaire's and the majority of this embankment has been created with 'half width' embankments, i.e.: one under each track so as to allow for greater flexibility. They will be on the DLS in due course and along with the half width I also have single and double track versions.

Cheers,

PLP
