Hi Gordon all people already know the galaxie c5 from Vulcan. My is very different first is a static one, second is a collection model not for airports or routs layouts and the model is not the same is not a low poly model is a hight poly not suit for layouts.

Hi 321 i really think the way i using in Max for making animation for what i know dont have any tutorial, i really search this tutorials in trainz but i only find the standard tutorial for making characters in parts assigning a dummy to any of this parts hierarchically, but through this way you must animated all dummy's and made the all animation and the character mesh to piece by piece in gmax or in 3dmax and you cant use already made motion bip files in 3dmax they have great examples of that in this site chek that animated people from Neoklay75 a Russian content creator.(they are great)

They have a tutorial in gmax to made them like the Neoklay made all them to, but you really must do all from begging and cant use already made characters and the already made motion bip files in 3dmax.

The way i use for making them require to use the Character studio editor from 3dmax version 9, 2008, 2009,2010 i made all in 3d studio max 2009. If you use a older version of max you cant load the motion already made bip files made for this early versions, they are free files and have millions of then to download free. The advantage are........
1- you dont need to make the figure mesh or character, you can use any freeware low poly character in the net even the sketchup figures to, or like me you can buy a pack of characters already made for games, some packs even come whit bones this is important but if you find a character whit out bones is very easy assign a bones biped skeleton in max and they have millions of tutorials of max for made that.
2- You dont need to really animated the character piece by piece if you already have download this motion bip files you can load and combine then to make the all animation automatically in max saving in this way many time.
3- The character can be a unique mesh and not subdivide then, in this way you dont see the interpolate joints of the several parts of the figure meshes.
4- If you use the same tipe of biped skeleton bones you can change any animation kin file you already made in the previous models to your new model whiteout any problem in this way you can made many variations quickly in the characters animations.

resuming if you learn how to do it in max you can put a figure like that all animated in less them 30 minutes.

What is need.. 3dmax, a freeware or payware character and download all the motion bip files.
steps.
1 - assigning a skeleton biped bones in the character figure mesh.
2 - assigning a Physique modifier in the figure mesh.
3 - adjust all envelops of the Physique modifier selecting bones.
4 - loading the clips motion bip files in to the bones.
5 - renaming all hierarchy bones to the initial letters b.r. for the trainz export validate the animation bones.
They are a steps mode to, very easy to use in max for making the path wee want.

I dont have much time for doing many more animated figures because of my payware models, but i can made a good tutorial here to made all that, if any people know how to use 3dmax and have it, i can supply the links for the motion bip files even the characters mesh´s for made all that and a example model in max to.
Post me if anybody whant to start to make this animated figures and put it in the dls. here or private to.

Hi Euphod i know is a joke , but for curiosity i can explain this all positions in T format or formation, this position is for pré and post Rigged the character, if not you cant correct the envelops off the bones and when you animate then all vertices of the mesh figure going to be mess up ones attached to the other leg and arms. in other words when you assign a skeleton bones you need this position the arms and legs must be as much separated as possible.

Well i cant but i customize in a program whit morphs a figure to match as close as possible like the photo you post, at lest can give the same look if you want wee can animated to stay sit in a chair and make some animation in the head and harms of course the crowd whit the 2k polys is the one i think. what you say?
Euphod when i say that (good candidate to this) i mind seriously dont get me in the wrong way please.

I never thought about an animated driver mesh. That would be very cool.

This figure looks perfect for a North American driver. A static figure in a seated position for a driver mesh would be ok with me.

Ok people i gonna here open the all game for benefict of all players of trainz and multiplayers to, i think can help Auran to get a bether visual improving they routes layouts and give then more live, then i go explain all that.

All this is not be possible for all of us users of any kind of game before the middle of 2011, this happens because the world evolve whit such admirable sped in informatics 3d tecnologie in Mather of months.
Autodesk in the middle of 2011 buy all Evolver Company this company make software package for customization characters animation etc, them Autodesk implement a free server online and royalty free for anything, free of any copyrights for the models and the use of the same, this works in that way, you setup online all the character like you want to be, like a Avatar cloths, textures, face,eyes,mouth,age, Hair, body etc etc, you can start even whit your own photo and apply in to the character you going to made (you must register free) when this character are ready and looks in the way you what you can setup the download if is a low poly , med poly, high poly, crowd etc, the geometry system if in triangles or quads and high of the character and if you want whit bump normal maps or if you want your character rigged for animation and whit facial bones or not. you must select to the format of the file to download, you can use Blender, Unity3d or the best way for us 3dstudio max (dont work on Gmax) 2008,9,10,11,12 32b or 64b then in a couple of minutes you receive a notification by email for download the figure mesh in fbx format in our case (remember to have the latest version of the free Autodesk fbx importer/exporter in your 3dmax program) Then you must import the character in the importer option fbx in max once there you already can put the figure mesh in the position you want selecting easy the bones rotating and moving then, (i can assure to all here this all procedure i already made here the all description behind any child of 12 years old can make it in minutes. Now you have your mesh in the position you want then you select all bones or dummy's and erase (correction Hide) all then and export to trainz is simple as that, of course made a all animated character is a much difficult procedure because or you buy a auto rigged biped service to Autodesk or to Mixamo or you must rigged all character by hand but this can stay for lather i hope you understand all that and make a good use of then in trainz and enjoy it. I have been away from a PC for a long time except to read e-mails, etc ... first time in these forums in a long time!!

I went back to see what my dear friend Paulo has created, and may I say, impressive detailed works! Although it's payware, you guys should check it out and get something! Since I am a huge fan of cranes on page 70 you will see the most impressive detail animated cranes in trainz or anywhere, to be honest!

I'm was looking for a driver mesh asset for the right side of the cab. Most North American locos the driver/engineer is located on the right side.
