BART Screenshots

Very nice work still A. You know most of the drop down stations look alike like Oakland Coliseum, Lafayette, Orinda and so on. A few look like MacArthur where they are at track level. I was on the BART between 19th Street and MacArthur when the 1989 Loma Prieta Quake hit. Scary but thanks to BART for the wide tracks. Thought I was a goner for a few seconds. :)

Cheers and keep up the great work. : )

It's a smoother ride, and would help with the train/track stability in the event of a major earthquake. Following the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake, BART stood up very well, and only had a few minor cracks in some support columns on aerial sections in the East Bay. In the 25 years since then, they've done extensive retrofitting of all their aerial and subway portions since the Bay Area is long overdue for another 7 or greater earthquake. I've heard tons of rumors about BART wanting to monopolize the contracts for equipment builders and what not---but that wasn't the case at all. Just a smoother ride and increased durability!

Updates Galore

Route is built from Millbrae & SFO stations to the M97 interlocking that controls the entrances to the Daly City yard. It's coming along slowly but surely. Thanks again guys for your help and support (and patience too!)

If anyone has any questions or would like to contribute, please leave a reply. I'm currently searching for photographers willing to trek to several places on the system for pictures and video. You will be compensated for this. Serious inquiries only.

BART Update!

After lots of consideration, I've decided that until the broad gauge content is finished and to my liking (crisp looking, not clunky), the BART route will be using standard gauge track and items. This is being done due to the availability of better looking content since Standard is....well Standard Gauge, and the LOD meshes on these newer items perform better than the current BART models because I haven't quite learned how to make an LOD mesh, so the FPS suffers. Daly City Yard was barely visible because of rendering issues, but now after the conversion, everything is running smoothly. The normal BART gauge will be used, but not until further notice. This also gives me flexibility in making the route look more realistic, using items from several amazing developers (including the NYCTA/EL SubKit by Austin316Hockey. I will be retaining the signals, and other non-track items. I assure you, you will not be disappointed, and I'll be putting out a video very soon of the newly looking route.
As always, thank you so very much for your patience and continued support of this endeavor!

The line has been completed across the bay to West Oakland!

Are you going to do the extension to San Jose, too? Or are you doing retro?

I will be doing the extension to San Jose, included. I don't have any official track maps from my BART source, but I do have a rough outline of the planned alignment (underneath Lake Elizabeth, and then paralleling the UP line for much of the way). The official VTA and BART websites have been helpful in that regard. When the extension opens in September, I'm willing to compensate anyone who is willing to get photos and rough drawings (if any interlockings exist) of the route. I'm still in the market for someone to take photos and videos of the current system, if anyone who lives in the Bay Area wants to make some extra money. PM me?

For right now though, keeping with the times, the official beta release at the end of the summer will feature only the current system, as I have zero details on eBART, or the extension to Livermore. There are a lot of interesting things being floated around however: An in-fill station at 30th St in SF, a split line following I-680 between Dublin and Walnut Creek, and if (now it's a question of when) CalTrain goes under within the next 5-10 years, using that system's alignment to get more West Bay/Peninsula customers; an interesting side note to the CalTrain option is another for a second TBT that'll feed into the Transbay Terminal, which could finally see a BART line (or lines) extended into other parts of SF. (I've got my money on a Geary Blvd line, and a line splitting from DC going up 19th Ave to Marin County, but a man can dream, lol).

I'll be detailing the area around Oakland over the next week in preparation for an Oakland Core video. Right now due to better handling and cab views, I'll be using NYCTA subway cars to mimic the BART system (R46s and R40 Slants with custom destination signs); it gets annoying feeling like I'm riding on the floor of the tracks :o.

Thanks for the support of the resurrected project! It will not become vaporware. We're 1/4 of the way done with the system! A moment to celebrate!

P.S. I know nothing about Freight, and am running the latest patch for TS12. I am open to what sorts of cars run on the SP & UP lines, as they'll be part of the scenery for the entirety of the EL line in West Oakland, all the way down to Fremont- Milpitas/Berryessa

That is great. I like the Lake Elizabeth, near the medical center, and paralleling the freight going over the Mission Blvd, past Tesla plant, to Milpitas.

Some new stuff....got built to MacArthur earlier this week. Richmond-Millbrae line should be the first full line to open by Friday! :D

This one actually is when the 980 turns into the 24 and has an interchange with the 580. The interchange you speak of is on the L line between Bay Fair and Castro Valley. I'll be there soon (:
