1 Commodity shuts down entire industry

K so you know what I am talking about. If say, a seaport, consuming 10 different commodities, runs out of coal and cant consume it anymore, the whole thing shuts down and stops consuming everything. Are there industries out there that wont stop? and Keep working? Instead of shutting down when 1 item has run empty or full?

There is a Power Station rule (or something similar) in the Edit Session Rules box - if this has been added to the session, and the appropriate power station runs out of coal, any industries connected to it using this rule will stop.

There is a similar one for trains, in the form of Electric Loco rule.

Check the rules you have in your session by clicking on "Edit Session" from the top left panel, look in the list that pops up to see if there is one called "Power Rule". It makes things like a power station shut down if it runs out of coal or a factory close down if it runs out of it's input needs.
Can you give a little more specific detail about what has happened to your session and with what assets? ;)
Just pipped to the post by Shane again. lol.

No its not the power station. I got a shipping port hub, 1 industry consuming over 10 different commodities. 20F contrainers, 40F containers, general goods, woodchips, etc... Now if 1 of its commodities runs empty and cant be consumed anymore, all others will stop being consumed. So if it runs out of woodchips, even if its full on general goods, it wont do anything until the empty commodity has been restocked. Same goes opposite for industries creating multiple commodities, such as an oil refinery. If diesel fuel is full, but aviation is still empty, it wont produce any more aviation fuel till you free up some of the diesel fuel.

Well this is a weird one, have you checked the properties of the assets in surveyor to see how they are set up, did you set the properties up yourself and what settings did you apply?

I just use the industries that are already set up, where you can only modify the consumption/creation rate and starting amount. Ive had this before on other maps, and maybe people haven't noticed it, but ive seen it on multiplayer maps as well. Especially mouse84's po&n route.

Yevgeniy - you could try adjusting the production and consumption rates and/or the starting amounts so that one commodity does not empty of fill its queue. This can require a bit of trial and error but I have been able to get it to work for me in simmilar situations. You could also send a train in to load the excess commodities then use the instantunload command to unload the train which can then be parked nearby.
