What is Trainz Simulator 12 ?

...I love how my copy of 2006 is already starting to be pretty vintage - Too bad it was low cost, has always worked for me no matter what, and will forever be my only copy of Trainz. :D

I popped on here, and couldn't help to laugh at how Trainz has already leaped to 2012, and how it's price tag has leaped sky high too, but none of the crucial issues have been remedied.

Don't you hate it when older things work better? I guess that's what happens when you try to fix the little things, and ignore the bigger problems. Once Auran and all left behind 2006, it all went downhill performance-wise.

Yes, later versions and their models look better - They sure don't perform better though.

R.I.P. CMP/DLS - You will be missed...

My one question to you would be...

If you only have 06 and will only have 06 just HOW would you know about 2010 performance?:hehe:

Oh that's right you READ the rantings of other equipment impaired users who have tried and cried BUT if you got the hardware the software runs just fine and I will put up MY 2010 against YOUR 2006 and I'll wager it would out perform YOUR 2006...

As stated in the other thread i am a collect of antiques, and i can tell you it will take a long time before these collector's items are really worth some money and that will be if they are never opened in the first place ,so only then are they worth money if they don't fall apart before hand.
Remember only if they are never opened in the first place, so you will have to buy 2 lots of the 1 item in order to use TS 12

Until it's out we may never know...

Im still wondering if it's a totally new version of trainz or not. Im just itching to find out. But got no money to do so and there will only be 2500 copies.

I want this, only because of that ticket. even though out of 2500 of them, only about 10 will have it. Still, the over all package seems cool

I am also a collector of antique and vintage stuff of all kinds, and I agree with you, steve123. Often, the better the condition that an antique is in, the rarer it is, and/or the higher its value and/or desirability. New old stock (NOS) items (meaning that it is an old item that has never been used, and might still be in the original packaging), especially those that are still in the original packaging, will often be more desirable and possibly worth more than an item that was used and has wear and tear, and which will likely be missing the original packaging.

It also matters if the old item is complete. Do I want that antique lamp over there that has been re-wired with a brand new and stinking Chinese-made light socket and cord, or do I want that antique lamp over there that still has its original socket and cord? Similarly, one of the Trainz Simulator 12 Collector's Edition sets might have its parts seperated and/or lost over time, thus diminishing its value. However, if many of the TS12 Collector's Edition sets have their parts seperated and/or lost like that, then it will therefore make the remaining Collector's Edition sets rarer, thus likely increasing their value.

Of course, the desirability and value of any thing is ultimately determined by the market for the thing. To quote http://elginwatches.org/ (probably in the F. A. Q.): "It's not "is it rare?", but "does anyone care?"". ;)

Regards.

Auran/N3V What would have impressed me would have been an upgrade of the game engine to take advantage of better hardware as other game companies have and are doing, very soon Trainz will be left standing there with the door stop computer, yes you will more than likely sell your collector edition but for those who do buy them they will not be of any real
value if they are opened even once for a look.
Even to find if you are the 1 in 10 winners, you might win that but collector's edition value just went down
yes Auran/N3V i am a nobody in a forum of nobody's that make your Trainz something special,so we are the one's who buy your products and yet our words fall on deaf ears [why is that].
SLI/CROSSFIRE have been out for how long and still Trainz does not to take advantage of that to any great measure.
GPU's on video cards many games use these now to take the pressure of CPU's.
If these thing above had have been done i would pay big money for that ,yes i understand a lot of people can't do that but a lot of people can as well ,so cater for both
Fixing all known faults and tending to update game engine would be in Auran/N3V best interests i would think.
Just my opinion

Correct me whether I'm wrong or not, but I don't think anyone is going to buy the package as an investment, expecting some big return to get them through retirement.

You are right Euphod i don't think so either
however i would be impressed if Auran/N3V did change the game engine,
really i think that would be a good voting point ,

really at this point most things with trainz are running smooth but for downloading ,so if Auran/N3V put all there effort into creating a new trainz with all the whistles and bell to take advantage of the more up to date computer hardware wouldn't you Euphod if you knew a more update version was coming out in say 18 months time put your money away to buy it .
yes some people would have to update there computers to run it but in quite a fair few cases that can be done over time .

And?

Let me guess you want em to lose and then what?

In the real world private businesses are not socialized like dang near everything in England...

They work within a little thing called the private enterprise system and if they create something that someone is willing to buy then they shouldn't be ashamed of that...

Now that being said if you don't want it, fine sit on your thumbs and wait. But to criticize a company for "trying to make money" well that is just nuts...

If you think ANYONE should sit around somewhere and create something for you to enjoy for free then you have really had a warped upbringing...:hehe:

Lose? How will they lose?

What I would like Auran/N3V to do is provide a first class and thoroughly tested product using the best/latest software technology available and for a reasonable price. Is that too much to ask or expect of them?

As for your personal attack on myself and my country, this I will just ignore as they are the tactics of the loser anyway.

Rob.

With manual! Now where is it? Ah yes, with UTC et al.

Hello

TS2012 looks tempting I say,

Been a long time here,:D 149.00 AUS Dollars is a lot of money especially with the recession going on around the globe, I'll rather spend the money on my Twin boys first birthday next month than the TS12 limited edition, do I hear NV3 releasing a standard edition of TS12 in the near future without the metal box and the extended 240 page manual???. I might think about it then.

Regards

Ahsan:)

It's silly to sell only 2500 copies if your game :D . So, considering N3V an intelligent company, the standard edition is unavoidable.

Hello

Been a long time here,

;) Hi dear Ahsan,

Still flying the IBTZ colours! How fine of you! :Y:

Yes, you better take care of your lovely twins than the Brisbane team. :D

Sending my warmest greetings to you, dear Ahsan.

Excellent. Think of all the hackers on board:eek:

Hi dear eeh es es won,

;) :hehe: There have to be all kinds of people in the world, and all of them are scattered throughout all countries and tribes, hackers per km² is a very unscientific unit :hehe:. Uniformity is really boring. :p

Have a very fine Sunday,

and how do you know that they did not?
do you know what all of the TS12 changes are?
what causes you to think that trainz does not take advantage of modern hardware?

long as the older assets do not absolutely require compatibility mode to function -i.e. they have errors- then they will work just fine. the same thing can be said for 2009 and up. the number of fixed (read TS209-10-12 ready) assets on the DLS climbs every day.

i placed hundreds of alpha trees on the Mojave route in the orange groves. they came right off the DLS, and i made no changes to them. we put a lot of DLS content on Mojave for filler scenery, nothing on the DLS was created for TS12. ;)
Well, that is slightly more promising. I guess I'm in the middle. Interested but not overly excited, yet not swearing it off either.

What is Trainz Simulator 12

Hi, this thead was supposed to give the answer to it's title. It has gone far and seems to became the ''complaining thread of TRS 12''. We all know that a collector's edition is in general always more expensive then the standard edition. If you don't want to pay for these bell and whistle that has this limited edition, why not wait the standard edition and stop complaining about it ?

But I must admit that Auran does not give enough information about the feature and the spec and the compatibility mode...hope someone from the Auran's team will answer soon. Even if we complain about the high price, I doubt NV3 reply: OK guys we are going to reduce the price......we don't care that much about money...
