What is Trainz Simulator 12 ?

I would be reluctant to buy TRS2012 so soon after TRS2010. It's a major deal for me to spend $49.00 on a game (justifying it with the boss...I mean wife). Plus the fact that I use TRS2009 more often than TRS2010. If TRS2012 is only backwards compatible with TRS2010 then that would be a big hurdle for me to clear.

TRS2006 in the tin can was a big deal...very slick and visually appealing from a marketing stand point. But I think the best part of that edition of Trainz was the comprehensive printed manual that I still reference occasionally to this day.

I usually wait for all of you guys to buy a new edition hot off the press and then read the reviews. By the time I finally break-down and buy it Auran is advertising the next addition.

Works for me. But I'm use to living behind the curve.

159 USD? HAHAHA Funniest thing I have ever heard. I think I will pass on that "great" offer and stick with TS10 or get the normal package when and if it becomes available.

Yes, ill wait for just the game. I really dont need the extras could rather use the gas money instead hehehe:hehe: but Especially because of the Mojave SUB I will have to have this game!!!! :D

Who you do conversions with, a loan shark?:hehe:

$149.99 Australian last night anyway was $149.27 American...

It looks like a major failure for NV. They can;t even get Amtrak Toasters that look correctly.

Quite obviously a reskin of an ALP-44 from somewhere (not the DLS though, from what I can see).

A bad choice for a publicity screenshot, but to blame Auran is unfair - it'll be supplied by a member of the community.

(There is an ALP-44 on the DLS, but it's a NJT skinned ALP-44, and lacking buffers, there is also a AEM-7 on the DLS that lacks buffers, both are trainz 1.3 era models though)

Again with the negativity, I'll bet they'll sell out. Good bad or indifferent but it won't be a "major failure" not by a long shot.

A lot of people seem to be missing the point. Yes you get 2012, but that's not what you're paying the exorbitant price for. You're paying the extra money for the "chance" to be 1 of 10 out of 2500.

Some of us are gamblers, and it is better odds than a lottery ticket. That's the way I'm looking at it anyway. No I haven't pre-ordered yet, I've got a month and a half to take my trainz money and save it up, if they haven't sold out all 2500 by then I'll play, if they have then quite a few payware creators will get lucky, so it's a win-win:hehe:

When it comes to locomotives, you get what you pay for when you get it for free:D

I have to say JointedRail's are some of the finest I have in my collection, and I am really looking forward to cloakghost's new diesel.

Free is nice, but I haven't found any payware creator yet who is charging such an exorbitant price that I haven't considered the product purchased to be quite a deal.

I haven't been disappointed with a single payware locomotive, not one...

And when you compare it to say an H-O scale locomotive, the price is extremely reasonable:hehe:

WOW. Despite the negativity of some of these posts, what we are doing right now is exactly what Auran/N3V wants us to do: discuss and talk about the product. Sure they want us to buy the product even more, but by harping on the topic over and over to create a 9-page Godzilla generates buzz and interest among both people inside and outside the forum. I think this thread is helping get TS12 out there, especially to newbie Trainzers. My two cents.

Cheers,

If... BIG IF... 2500 units are sold at AU$ 150 = AU$ 375.000

Ten (10) Golden Tickets...let's just say they are worth AU$ 1000 - AU$ 10,000.

Ok, we have $365.000 left.

Development costs ?? Say AU$ 75,000.

Colletors item costs....Say AU$ 25,000

Misc. costs.................Say AU$ 50,000

>>>>>>Of course, my estimates are only a guess.<<<<<

Leaving AU$ 215,000 Gross Earnings.... AU Taxes to be deducted from this amount.

I have NO problem with N3V making a profit..... hopefully that will enable the Future of Trainz for all of us.

For those who purchase TS12 Colletors Edition.... thank you very much.

Looking forward to corrections to my estimates.

Have fun,

I think a lot of people are missing something.

the $150 is for the "Collector's Edition" of the game.

TS12 itself will probably go on sale, separately, at a later date, for a much more reasonable price.

They did the same thing with TRS2006, IIRC.

my .02¢

Despite the negativity of some of these posts...
Negativity? What's the meaning of that word on this forums? Unknown to me. Is it the same as 'ridiculous'? ;):hehe:

... yes, yes, we old-timers know there are going to be 2500 (or at least 2499) collectors who are selling out this new "attempt"...

:hehe: I'm rushing to be the 2500th... :hehe:

No, guys, seriously -do I know the meaning of this word in the world of Trainz?- this is the first time in eight years I'll be saying 'don't count on me' to a new 'attempt' of Trainz. A more civilised priced version will be round the corner in May, for sure. My dusted shelves will know how to forgive me for not giving them a new baby now.

Of course I'm asking for apologies from the current N3VRF41l heroes for not being able to understand the real value of their signatures. ;)
  • Lifetime FCT: got one
  • Multiplayer: A frivolous whimsy to my liking.
  • The Golden idontknowwhat: Never lucky at draws and lotteries. (Please, don't tell me that if you don't play... blah blah, I've been playing for years... just bad luck)
  • New layouts: Many people over here offer that and better for free.
  • The metal case: Would not be able to go through security checks at airports.
  • The certificate: I'd rather have a salary increase instead.
  • The poster: Mine of Cameron looks finer.
  • Shortcut chart: After eight years I almost know them by heart. If not, I'll check the UTC chart. More or less the same after such a long time, fortunately.
  • The Supermanual: Just some kind of punishment for loyal trainzers. It should have been released with T10 in .pdf format, as in glorious times. I don't like punishments from anybody.
Well, well, negativity? :hehe:;) Where? Under the carpet? Call it 'ridiculous' if you wish... we are getting used to that ridiculous behaviour from a few over here.

Of course, the 2500 chosen by the glory of Trainz are really lucky... collectors are always lucky... and guess that happier than the rest of the mortals.

My sincerest paradoxical congratulations, I'm not questioning the subjective value of collecting things. :hehe: I used to collect money until it became too expensive for me... now I collect

Hi,

Always have problems understanding some forum members form of logic.

What has it got to do with us whether or not N3V make a profit or how much.

Basically if you want the Collectors Edition and you can afford it, then buy it.

If you don,t want the Collectors Edition or can,t afford it, then don,t buy it.

SIMPLES

Hi,

Always have problems understanding some forum members form of logic.

John, dear John,

I haven't had any problem with that. ;) My only and laden neuron can handle and respect every kind of logic. Mine is the most difficult to understand, but I've been struggling for years and will keep on it stubbornly. ;)

Take care,

I think you must be easily satisfied, I've seen payware locos with none rotating wheels, some created after TS2010 was available needed fixes before they would work in TS2010. N3V's Duchess has a few undocumented features and that's just off the toy of my head.

I've seen some very high quality free ones.

Cheerio John

Actually I'm quite picky:D

The only payware I've ever bought was for 2010. Nothing that JointedRail has sold me has been anything but spectacular, cloakedghost's SD70MAC looks in the videos and screenshots to be absolutely spectacular.

But I don't think you'll find many diesels on the download station that will come close to any JointedRail diesel or cloakedghost's SD70MAC...

If you have bought some as you have described, I would suggest you not buying them from the right people:D
