Trainz Update Announcement (SP4)

I spent a few minutes messing about with build 128152. Assertions are turn off in this build BTW. Manually editing the terrain appears to me to respond quicker but not by a lot. But the changes are close to real time with perhaps a second of delay. Clearly it depends on the radius of the brush as that effects more terrain squares. I use using a 4m brush.
Smoothing the ground under selected track is not fast but you can apply it over a long line of track. Again the radius of the brush makes a big difference in speed. I used a 4m radius which is about the smallest the function will use to produce embankment with about a 45 degree slope and a rise of 2m on a length of track made up of three track segments. The track was about 350m in length. The smoothing function took about 1 minute to complete. Then I widened the radius to 30 m to get a much more gentle slope on the sides. This took close to 3 mins but considering that it involves at least 3 times the number of ground squares then the longer time is to be expected. At least you get a progress bar. I must say I am impressed with the quality of this function on HD terrain. Even with track laid at a diagonal the slope edges are smooth. No stairstep jaggies as seen with the 10m grid.

Edit: I had a bit more messing around and it appears the the setting of the Sensitivity greatly effects the speed of the Smoothing function and the same test as above at 50m radius and Sensitivity at 100% completed in about 30 seconds or a 6 times improvement in speed. The only visual difference seems to be that the ragged ends of the raised section at the ends of the track appears to be not as detailed as with Sensitivity at 5%. Interesting.

I've been playing around with every setting I could imagine, hiding layers, shutting down unnecessary background apps, basically anything I thought might slow down my terrain height editing. Nothing seemed to make a difference until I tried Edit Route instead of Edit Session. In Edit Route mode, terrain height changes so much quicker. It still depends somewhat on brush size, but completely workable. I don't have an explanation for this since I previously edited in session mode all the time, but not anymore. Did I miss a note somewhere that HD terrain must be edited in Edit Route mode for best performance?

Edit: Never mind. This morning more of the same, even in Edit Route mode. Oh well.

I might be Old school, but , I have always edited terrain in Edit Route Mode.
why would you edit terrain in Session Mode.?
When I'm driving in a session and I notice something I need to correct, update, or add, I simply switch to edit session mode. No need to save, exit, and open in Edit Mode. That was one of the benefits of Surveyor 2.0.

Guys, I need some help. I got a new computer for Christmas because my previous computer was getting old, I couldn't update it to Windows 10 and above and Windows support for my computer would end in October 2025. I downloaded the installer and installed TRS22 SP4, Build 126273. When I try to access my external hard drive, which contains my localdata folder for TRS22, and I sign into MyTrainz in the Trainz Content Store in TRS22, I get a message saying 'Your MyTrainz account lacks authorization for this product.' I will note that the edition of TRS22 on the external hard drive is either SP2 or SP3.

I just checked that. It says 'MyTrainz login authorization succeeded but build authorization has failed.' When I click on 'Click here for more information', I find a short section of the TrainzWiki and the part that is most relevant to me is the part that says: 'If you are using the correct account and access is still denied, or if you are unable to resolve the issue, then please contact Trainz Helpdesk'. I have opened the ticket with Helpdesk and waiting on a reply.

Check your antivirus and your firewall settings and make sure that trs22.exe has access through the firewall and is excluded from real-time scan.

I decided to copy and paste to here these two replies that I made to N3V's reply to my Helpdesk ticket, which said the exact thing JCitron said to do:

I just made a new userdata folder on my external hard drive, and for some reason when I sign into MyTrainz, I get no problems with this new userdata folder.

I found that my computer came installed with Realtek Bandwith Control, and I found a post on Reddit that said program was interfering with the poster's computer game, so he uninstalled it. I did the same thing, hoping to solve the problem, but when I go to 'Trainz Settings' under the launcher, and select 'MyTrainz', I still get 'Your MyTrainz account lacks authorization for this product'.

I found that TRS22.exe was not one of the files excepted for my firewall and antivirus. I added that to the excepted programs and it still shows 'Your MyTrainz account lacks authorization for this product' when I go to 'MyTrainz' under 'Trainz Settings.'

Have you purchased SP4? I'm not sure when the free updates for TRS22 ended before they released a new retail version. It sounds like you may be one version too high. Or were you on a subscription that has expired?

That sounds like you need to run a EDBR on your old database to update it to SP4 requirements. You can do this from the launcher by going to Developer menu and while holding down the CTRL key click on Rebuild Database. I'm of the impression that as the Trainz build version are updated with new Service Packs that a database rebuild must be done as well. That is certainly always done when installing service packs. But I may be wrong but it is worth a shot.

I downloaded the offline installer, which installed Build 126273. In fact, the title of the compressed zip file that the offline installer was in was TRS22-Offline-Installer-126273.
