What is Trainz Simulator 12 ?

So then, you expect N3V to continue developing future Trainz series just for fun?

They are in business to make a profit..... SIMPLES.

Have fun,

I think he was being critical (like I am most times) of people who seem to get frustrated and claim that Auran/N3V is out just to rip everybody off...

God knows there are a ton of users of this forum who believe that Auran/N3V should invest millions of dollars and give their product away:hehe:

If you want to hear them just start a thread with the title "I believe everybody who hasn't purchased 2010 should have to buy a first-class ticket" and sit back and watch:hehe:

Hi,

Sorry you mis-understand me. I was trying to make the point (obviously poorly) that N3V have a right to make as much profit as they want without forum members critizising them for it.

Cheers, John

Thanks mrscsi for putting it better than I did

Don,t know whether to be flattered or worried.

Please, John, feel flattered, be my guest!

No hidden message: Everyone has his/her logic, maybe illogical to others but subjectively logical... and I have no problem to understand them... Sharing is another different matter, John, believe me...

I can understand the logic from the 2499 collectors but... sharing it makes my way uphill. :hehe: In spite of my...

Have a good night there,

The difficult-to-share side of Alberte

well just so i can see it and run on the mojave desert route i'll get it, but it's still mainly TRS2006 for me. TS2009 from time to time just for laughs

Basically if you want the Collectors Edition and you can afford it, then buy it.

If you don,t want the Collectors Edition or can,t afford it, then don,t buy it.

Although it appears that your apostrophes have succumbed to the inexorable force of gravity, the logic is irrefutable! Well met!

My only concern with this new version is due to things I am not 100% sure about. Perhaps someone could clear it up.

1. Is it only backward compatible with content from '10? If so, there is no sale for me here. I like the progress, I like the better quality of newer assets, but I also like being able to use older stuff when needed because a lot of it is quite nice and very useful. This seems like it will really wipe out a lot of frequently used assets, rendering the new version useless to me. Joe's Mojave route looks great from the screenshots, and I could dig that, but I rarely run any built-in routes. Added routes are usually not selling points for me, although I did buy '10 to be able to run EK3, so who knows?

2. Is it really not going to support alpha trees, or billboard trees, whatever you call them? I still don't like speed trees. I've tried them, the performance cut is not worth it especially since I think the alpha trees look better any ways.

These are both things I have not confirmed, so I'm not hating yet.

Hi,

You sound like my daughter :). She is always reprimanding me for using , instead of '.

(Note to brain) Please watch your punctuation.

A software maintenance fee yearly would solve this thread and N3V cash flow

Woody and friends sit back and have another beer and bark somewhere else.
Yes I repeat myself what is for N3V and ourselves a viable solution and cost less and generates more revenue and satisfaction on the user site too.
The only disadvantage is that N3V has to come up with a serious list of enhancements, fixes and better staffed responsive "help desk".
To me the help desk at N3V looks more like a "cry for help" desk.
You can calculate for yourself based on this thread how many would pay 30-50 box for what they call a new version ( i call a hidden maintenance tax) and still not make what they expect.
Straight forward even with 30 usd per year you N3V would generate a substantial amount to make things much easier for all fronts.
I would be the first to pay for professional maintenance and a yearly fee.

Ok let's bark.......

long as the older assets do not absolutely require compatibility mode to function -i.e. they have errors- then they will work just fine. the same thing can be said for 2009 and up. the number of fixed (read TS209-10-12 ready) assets on the DLS climbs every day.

i placed hundreds of alpha trees on the Mojave route in the orange groves. they came right off the DLS, and i made no changes to them. we put a lot of DLS content on Mojave for filler scenery, nothing on the DLS was created for TS12. ;)

No problem. The point of my post with numbers was to show that N3V needs to make a profit....nothing more.

Until i see spec's on the changes or upgrades and the benefits of of these changes or upgrade i believe it is foolish to purchase it .
And if it has not a greater performance capability than TS2010 then where is the $149.00 justified ,and with all respect i understand Auran trying to make money but most of the extras will never be used so really it boils down to the performance of the software.

well me i simply think it's a rip off that's rediculous 150.00 AUD = 149.355 USDthat's a bit steep for me i don't need all that extra crap ie..the case etc

lulz

...I love how my copy of 2006 is already starting to be pretty vintage - Too bad it was low cost, has always worked for me no matter what, and will forever be my only copy of Trainz. :D

I popped on here, and couldn't help to laugh at how Trainz has already leaped to 2012, and how it's price tag has leaped sky high too, but none of the crucial issues have been remedied.

Don't you hate it when older things work better? I guess that's what happens when you try to fix the little things, and ignore the bigger problems. Once Auran and all left behind 2006, it all went downhill performance-wise.

Yes, later versions and their models look better - They sure don't perform better though.

R.I.P. CMP/DLS - You will be missed...

As much as I want to see Auran/N3V be successful so that we can continue to enjoy Trainz well into the future, I probably won't be purchasing Trainz12. The backwards compatablilty only to TS2010 is a big drawback for me. There just isn't enough TS2010 content out there yet and I don't see a lot being made.

One of the biggest problems that I see is the loss of being able to run some of the wonderful older routes on a 'hopefully' improved game engine. This apparent abandonment of legacy content is my problem with N3V and the biggest reason that I stopped uploading to the DLS. In my opinion, they have driven some very fine content creators away from the DLS which is a loss for the community and in the long run, a loss for N3V. I hate to have seen them go.

Truthfully, I hope Trainz12 is a big success. I think that we all want the forums and DLS around for awhile.

100% right Shaynoa ,where are the performance reviews. Auran if you really want to sell us something and you believe that Trainz 12 is better than TS 2010 with all service packs installed then show us proper reviews please benchmarks please frame rates something apart from a nice box.
