UK Screenshots for Pre BR Blue. High resolution warning.

OMG, I just looked up the Diddly Squat Farm Store on Google Satellite view and Chipping Norton Road is backed up in that shot!

New area of the SR Route under construction - BR 4MT stopping at Hailsham Station on a service from Turnbridge Wells to Eastbourne. Still in the very early stages....
Oo,er Cuckoo Line under development! Great to see this. Just wondering what the coaching stock is on the train at Hailsham?

Thanks Annie, it's coming along and I'm quite pleased with how it's turning out so far. Unfortunately, I don't know if this part of the line will ever see the light of day. I have Branksome and Poole stations left to do and I can't make the canopies for them both as they're both curved and, in Branksome's case, on a gradient. Unless I can figure out a way to do it I'm looking at cutting the line short at Broadstone so losing the 8 miles from Broadstone-Bournemouth West which is a great shame, but the buildings are just too difficult to model.

Meanwhile, some screenshots of steam at Parkstone and Blandford Forum:

PLP, try making the canopies as splines. That way you can curve them and set the gradients. That's what I have done on my route.
Hope this suggestion helps.

John

Hi John,

That's the next thing on my list to try as it's the only way I can think of. Unfortunately, as the canopy is a rather weird design it will have to be split into five separate splines and then attached to make one canopy but I'll give it a go and see what I end up with.

Cheers,

PLP

So, the spline was a failure - I built the canopy as one model and split it up into its respective elements: start, middle and end, and this was the result. The problem is, apart from the fact that I got the angle at the front wrong, the spline section is too long but can't be shortened due to the columns not being at even intervals, so it would always be lopsided. It was a good idea but sadly I think cutting the route short at Broadstone is the way to go as it's beyond me!

Personally, I'd vote for a less than perfect canopy over a truncated route anyday!

So would I usually, but I can't leave it looking like that. I'm going to have one more go at creating it as a static object and then call it a day. If anyone is interested in a paid commission though, please let me know! I have plenty of excellent reference drawings from Network Rail so someone with more skill than I should have better luck.

Couldn't jayhollands's 'SR/BR Station Platform Canopy Spline Gabled Ends' suffice for now?

I have an interest in this part of the line - I was in the early stages of making a smallish basemapz route of Bournemouth West and Central when you started on S&DJR.

Annoyingly the ends of the canopy don't render correctly if the splines segment is too short (which Poole would need to be) so I've used Nexusdj's LSWR/SR/BR canopy for now until I can get the actual thing in game. I'm hoping I can find someone willing to take a commission for the canopies as the buildings are done. It doesn't look perfect but it's better than nothing at all and having to truncate the route.

Little Keldon goods yard after a recent rebuilding session. The interactive TC3 cattle dock that never worked has been replaced and I've finally made a start on the cattle market/cattle pens I've been meaning to do something about for ages. Adjusted the loading gauges to a proper GER 13 feet clearance and at last the goods yard has a crane after not having one ever since the TS12 days of my Norfolk layout. Also replaced more of the thousands of older poplar trees on the layout with better more recent poplar tree models.

Don't even think about it.

Just keep going with the whole route - you may regret it if you don`t. Improvisation is the key until more stuff becomes available on the DLS. In my case I am still oldyfying the ECML, over a decade since I last posted a screeny but still very much constructing when time permits. I know how you must be feeling about those canopies but to give an example such as Durham - a unique design - I simply used what the DLS had to offer pending a more realistic version being created by someone or even myself if I eventually get my 60 + brain around this content creation palaver. Love what you have being doing here so please keep up the good work & stick to plan A.

Some pictures from the Eastnox and Westford Railway (a personal route that is a WIP) in T:ANE, and two screenshots of a redone Market Easterly Route in TRS2019 made by 844RailFan. I'm making this route as I grew bored of all the British routes and how in my opinion, some of them just didn't fit what I had in mind so I decided to make my own route instead.
