UK Screenshots for Pre BR Blue. High resolution warning.

OMG, I just looked up the Diddly Squat Farm Store on Google Satellite view and Chipping Norton Road is backed up in that shot!

Thanks Annie, it's coming along and I'm quite pleased with how it's turning out so far. Unfortunately, I don't know if this part of the line will ever see the light of day. I have Branksome and Poole stations left to do and I can't make the canopies for them both as they're both curved and, in Branksome's case, on a gradient. Unless I can figure out a way to do it I'm looking at cutting the line short at Broadstone so losing the 8 miles from Broadstone-Bournemouth West which is a great shame, but the buildings are just too difficult to model.

Meanwhile, some screenshots of steam at Parkstone and Blandford Forum:

PLP, try making the canopies as splines. That way you can curve them and set the gradients. That's what I have done on my route.
Hope this suggestion helps.

Hi John,

That's the next thing on my list to try as it's the only way I can think of. Unfortunately, as the canopy is a rather weird design it will have to be split into five separate splines and then attached to make one canopy but I'll give it a go and see what I end up with.

Cheers,

PLP

So, the spline was a failure - I built the canopy as one model and split it up into its respective elements: start, middle and end, and this was the result. The problem is, apart from the fact that I got the angle at the front wrong, the spline section is too long but can't be shortened due to the columns not being at even intervals, so it would always be lopsided. It was a good idea but sadly I think cutting the route short at Broadstone is the way to go as it's beyond me!

Personally, I'd vote for a less than perfect canopy over a truncated route anyday!

So would I usually, but I can't leave it looking like that. I'm going to have one more go at creating it as a static object and then call it a day. If anyone is interested in a paid commission though, please let me know! I have plenty of excellent reference drawings from Network Rail so someone with more skill than I should have better luck.
