UK Screenshots for Pre BR Blue. High resolution warning.

I used to work at the Coalville open days held in the 1980's and am looking forward to this. My gad used to work over part of the line as a loco fireman from Toton en route Nuneaton. I still know quite a few drivers and retired drivers etc from the depot.
Hi @steviez that is amazing to hear! I shall do my best when working on Coalville. If you have any resources that you think might be useful let me know.

Whitwell was a lonely outpost on the Leamside which controlled the junction to the lengthy Whitwell branch to Whitwell Colliery and various other collieries. There was also a hamlet called Whitwell Colliery but the colliery closed in 1875 and the hamlet gradually disappeared. Here we see a 9F taking empty Iron Ore hoppers to Middlesbrough. The gates were replaced with manual lifting barriers in 1965 but sadly there's no match on the DLS.

A few pics taken at the same location as earlier but now I have done the terrain and textures.
Fowler 4F and Johnson 2F head east bound goods circa 1930.

The odd one out today is a quiet moment at Moira looking west.

I have always found deep cuttings rather challenging due to the steep unrealistic way that smooth spline works, but I am very happy with this one. It took a while to get right with the colliery branch and two bridges. Very WIP, textures and scenery not finished, just playing with trains.

Some screenshots from when I made a start on the next update of my (fictional) Flockton & Westbridge Valley Joint Railway St.Ives Route:

One of the first things I wanted to do in this next update V1.2 was make the track work around the station area much easier operationally, this included re-doing the signalling on the South-West gantry, all the signalling on the station site itself, shifting Platforms 1 2 and 3 over slightly allowing more room to place in the cross-over line for trains from the transfer yard with the NG line bound for the loco depot or Thornton. Something I got inspired to do after finding some more high-quality photos of the cross-over line that St.Ives' basis station (Perth - Western Australia) had in the steam era.

New Signalling on the eastern end of St.Ives looking towards the main marshalling yard, carriage sidings, transfer yard and line to EVJ. The 3-way signal visible in the foreground over the middle lines are something I'm still debating whether or not would be realistic to keep in place, as this is still a W.I.P after all.

Screenshots from when I was testing the cross-over line between the Up and Down through lines. While the trackwork is probably as close to Perth as I could get it, the gantry in front of the home signal is something I put in myself in a bid to try and keep the Trainz AI drivers in line.

Ex-NBR C15 tank No.212 accelerates away from St.Ives with an LMS Period 1 Suburban carriage set. Seen on the left are the recently re-layed North-west carriage sidings which have been rebuilt in almost every single version of the original St.Ives route since I first built it way back in 2018/19.

Another view of the re-laid Carriage sidings, this time with a H tank and Dreadnought set. Originally there was another Haymarket carriage shed building placed to the right of the loco, however I felt it necessary to remove the shed because it wouldn't fit with the new track layout.

After working on St.Ives itself, I decided it was time to start filling in the blanks further up the line: Particularly along the Flockton line between Thornton Junction, Danglish and the last station on the route thus far: Kelpie's Crossing. Below are just some W.I.P screenshots from the past couple of weeks. I would like to jump back onto Trainz and do some more scenery work, but frustratingly I'm stuck in the middle of a database rebuild that freezes halfway through.

Today's progress consisted mainly of texturing fields and populating the distant areas with hedgerows and trees.

Rather unusually for me this shot is BR. Here we see a summer excursion train heading along the Leicester - Burton line towards the west coast. In charge is Stanier Class 5.

My Linux computer is under repair at present so I've been digging about amongst my archived snaps.
These screenshots are from TS2012 and were taken during a test run on the Devon Lines layout by Stagecoach. I did have a go at trying to repair and replace all the missing assets, but it ended up being far more work that I wanted to do.

@lewisner another lovely view there. How many baseboards is your Leamside route now?

Hi sorry I haven't replied as a cold virus has been eating me alive this week. I don't know how to calculate the number of baseboards , however the Leamside is based on the ECML route and runs from Gateshead to Pelaw thence 21 miles via Washington and Penshaw to Ferryhill. I've also built Pelaw - Sunderland as far as Seaburn and the Stanhope & Tyne from South Pelaw to Washington (basic track only) then to Green lane (Full Detail and signalling. It also includes Leamside - Durham and the Durham Gilesgate and Durham Elvet branches.

Now with new hard drives and a GTX 1630 my old Linux powered HP Xeon computer is back in action again. Boy oh boy did I ever miss it when it was out of action, - I was sometimes reduced to having to make use of a Win 11 computer in order to get some work done (shock, horror).

On 'Tristyn in Winter' GWR Steam Railmotor No.39 heads away from Valleyfields on the scheduled service to Tristyn via Aelwyd.
