Trainz: no registry entries?

Recently reinstalled win7 on a new hdd, but keeping the previous install hdd in order to access data thereon. What to do with Tr10 and 12, both by now huge installs? Created shortcuts to the old drive and guess what: both progs load and run under the new install with no trouble (even managed to apply recent patch to Tr12). Very surprised - and relieved by this - esp as the old install is 32bit while new one is 64.

Something worth knowing?

In May I backed up the full install of both 2006 and 2010 from an XP machine and copied (not an install) them onto a new Windows 7 PC and both worked fine. There were no Trainz related entries in the new registry. However, later I had a known Windows 7 problem where the option to create a New folder just disappeared. I had a company fix this and part of the fix involved changes to the registry. In so doing, they added Trainz related entries to the registry. Ever since, my Trainz has been very slow to load, switching between running and not responding. However, once it does load it runs the same (as near as I can tell) as it did before the fix. I don't think registry entries for Trainz (at least pre-TS12 Trainz) are required but I don't know the long term implications (if any) of this.

Actually, there are registry entries for Trainz, and are required for certain activities.

Most of them are file associations for CDP/CDP2/CMPA files and the trainz:// protocol (which is essential if you are using links of that type).

There are a few other entries though, which tell the system what versions are installed and where.
