Trainz DLC - Duchess Update!

I have downloaded and installed the update into TS2010, but neither the new LMS Duchesses nor the two new coaches show up in Content Manager or Surveyor.

Anyone else find this?

.....Just what I had before..... where is the 50 mb extra for?....

This happened to me too. To fix it just run a database repair.

I tried the "Quick Repair" option which took about 3hrs and came up with nearly 12,000 errors! - however the additional content is now available and, I'm happy to say, that I only have the same number of errors as before (80 waiting fixing).

Cheers

Could some one post a kuid number of the new brakevan or one of the others just so I can check it's installed correctly.

Thanks John

Hi All
Just to confirm, the file is the digital download in your order history.

If you are not sure on how to access this, then you can do so by going into your order history, which can be found here: https://www.auran.com/planetauran/Order_History.php
Once on the order history page, click on the order number that matches your Duchess Class purchase. On the order page, you will find a download link, click on this. This will take you to the download page, where you will find two download links (one is the mirror, and is the exact same file). Please try using the top download link first.

Once downloaded, simply run the installer. When it has finished installing, launch Content Manager, and run a 'quick database repair' (done by going to the 'file' menu, then clicking on 'quick database repair'). Once this has completed, the new/updated assets should appear within Trainz.

G'day All, thanks Zec and others for replys and information will install later tonight when I get home from work.
Regards
Barrie

Thank you who ever for your time and of coarse the free update, all are working well
regards steve

Does The Duchess Work on TRS Mac?

Hi Matthew556
At this stage, the Trainz DLC packs (Duchess, PRR T1, and Blue Comet, as well as the Settle & Carlisle, Murchison 2, and Classic Cabon City packs) are not available for Trainz Simulator Mac.

We may look into these in future, although we have not announced any plans for this at this time.

I don't have it on my order history because I got it else ware (Impulse), however the serial number is registered so surely I'm still entitled to the update?

Hi Davie_UCF
We will be working with Impulse (and any other locations that are selling the pack) to release the update with them in future, although we don't currently have an ETA for particular locations.

That's a backtrack as Chris has certainly said they would be available for the Mac in the future.

Buying the Mac verswion would seem to be a mistake for me. Can't use any add on packs and no way to create and export content.

I purshed the 12th Anniversary Collector's editions with the extra content and I sill only have the old version of the duchess in my order history to download

Zec,

I see the problem people are having knowing whether they have the most up to date version of Duchess. I was, as I imagine others were, expecting to see recently installed content DATES (in CM) when I upgraded, whereas the date (certainly for the two brake coaches mentioned above), in my case, shows up as the date I first installed TS12.

To clarify this I suggest you post on this or another forum a full list of all the content in the pack (with name and KUID) flagging whether each was in original or updated pack AS WELL AS giving the filenames in the 'TS12\Builtin' folder for reference (the new one is 'dlc-1.ja' in my case).

Though they were updated in a different manner (i.e. patched) I suggest you do the same for other add-on packs like Treez, Murchison and Settle-Carlisle as I for one do not know whether those are updated on mine. The Treez one is particularly awkward as I don't even know what the original pack contained or whether there were already assets with "treez" in the name available on the DLS. My confusion is probably also related to the installation dates.

It is a bit worrying when you pay for something and can't detect a change.

Doing as I suggest above should also cut down on unnecessary (and essentially duplicate) support tickets being taken out and so cut down on your workload.

All the best,

Peter Wise.

Hi Peter
In this case, the easiest way to check if you've updated is to check if you've got these two assets installed:

BR Stanier BTK-P,<kuid:523:19721004>
BR Stanier BTK-P B/G,<kuid:523:1972974>

Note, if you aren't sure, run a 'quick' database repair before hand, so as to ensure all installed content is listed.

As to the other packs (Murchison 2, Treez, Settle & Carlisle, and Classic Cabon City), these use the standard trainz patching method to update them. You can check if you have the latest version by checking the 'content' build number, which is shown next to the serial number in the 'configure trainz' options (accessed by clicking on options on the launcher screen).

Quick database repair solved the problem.

But it was done in less than 5 minutes, and not 3 hours as mentioned above...

/QUOTE]

Zec,

I do wish you would read messages before replying to them! ;)

The only reason I DID know that my Duchess add-on had been updated was because I found this thread and found the two new items you mentioned. [But I feel that I (or anyone else) shouldn't need to ask around (or hope that someone else asked) to find out that sort of information, it should be available, in a 'readme' if nothing else].

As for the patches for the other add-ons, you probably remember that I had all manner of problems because I re-installed TS2010 (again) AFTER I installed TS12 and all the patches seemed inextricably attracted to TS2010!

Then patches admittedly from 2010 Auran Announcements May 11th, 2010, 06:00 AM (GPavlich) seemed to fail even on a standalone (driver only) copy of the add-on do not seem to work or update the content build number.

I'll check the content versions more carefully and try the patches you mention, but my question on 'Treez' still stands - are all the assets with 'treez' in the name from the treez pack or were there some already on the DLS that I would have previously downloaded. If I can't use the date for a reference and there is no complete list, how do I now which 'treez' are from the pack I bought (or the update for that matter)?

If you want to reply on these non-Duchess add-ons, I suggest you start a new thread and drop a brief note here to give the subject name as it's off-topic here. I'll do likewise if I have more on this subject. (Nevertheless, the answers could help some people).

All the best,

Peter Wise.

I'm disappointed that the Stanier BTK-P B/G,<kuid:523:1972974> re-uses the poor blue and grey textures associated with the original Mk1s that appeared in TC3 in 2008. These textures were significantly improved by Mike10 in his reissued and expanded Mk1 series. So why weren't these used in the BTK-P?

Here's the Mk1 BCK compared to the BTK-P:
Blue-GreyMk1andStaniercomparedsmaller.jpg

As you can see, the BTK-P doesn't match at all and therefore cannot be used with any other blue/grey stock (unless you're into running one coach trains!) I cannot understand why a simple effort could not have been made to ensure matching textures bearing in mind there are now over 30 coaches where these textures do match. :(

Zec,

The others seem OK, but Treez is still suspect (can you give me one or two assets that were new or had higher KUID versions in the patch to the update (as you did for 'Duchess'? The problem is that I think the content build number is being reported incorrectly for the updated Treez. Here why:

* Treez (standalone: TS2009_Treez) was showing 40563 (by the CD key) and would not accept the 'trz_40563_to_41866.exe' patch - "not for this version" or similar.

* I uninstalled Treez.

* I reinstalled Treez from 'Treez_Installer.exe' - no auto-patching offered or allowed - NO build number (by the CD key).

* I ran patcher 'trz_40563_to_41866.exe' - accepted and completed without error.

* Treez (standalone: TS2009_Treez) was AGAIN showing 40563 NOT 41866 (by the CD key) !!!

I would almost 100% sure that if I ran the patcher again it would again say "not for the current version" or whatever.

Is this a known problem? Can you give me a couple of known updates?

In fact, Zec, I was thinking that it would be to Auran's benefit if it DID post full lists of KUIDs and names for releases (certainly for add-ons and their patches) because if some KUIDs match missing dependencies for their content, they may very well consider buying the add-on to fix their routes, locos or whatever. Run the idea past the marketing people. The lists would be quite easy to generate and could bring in some more business as well as please the punters (or some of them anyway).

All the best,

Peter.
