Hmm. Don't know blackwatch, ran a search for his name on the download station, zero hits. Run a search for sniper297 you get 530 assets that I've uploaded, plus I was the original creator of Port Ogden & Northern, which Phil Skene turned into Austral Bay and the Trainz version of PO&N (with my blessing of course, we're old friends from way back). So you could hardly label me a troll, I don't gripe unless I feel I have a legit gripe. Problem with TS12 was multiplayer, too complicated and too much work to get it working, and when I try to run it singleplayer with AI traffic the new subroutine that locks the switches depending on speed of approach causes more collisions than it prevents. Hence the move back to 2010, where single player AI traffic just works better.
Again though, I've turned off the online "chat" feature in the menu, near as I can tell that's the only online/offline selection available, if there's something else I need to do enlighten me. I did notice the first problem with textures taking a noticeable time to load came after my first class ticket expired, and I still think the game itself is polling Planet Auran while it's running - many of the background tests I ran with utilities for checking internet activity confirmed that. Upgrading from DSL to cable broadband hasn't helped, if anything the problems are worse than they were five years ago, even though I've upgraded the CPU, graphics card, and drivers, and doubled the RAM with Crucial Ballistix.
I didn't even try TANE, everything I read about it confirmed that the graphics engine change was no improvement over JET, still needs way more horsepower than the graphics rates to run reasonably smooth. All I want now is to be able to run the old game the way it ran when I first got it, and that's not happening - I strongly suspect a big part of the reason is it just will not stop phoning home looking for news, updates, and advertising.
