Switchlist style operation

I am trying to use Trainz 22PE to emulate a friends HO layout. I plan to assign each car on the layout a running number and set type of load/empty status for each. I can see all these details by Ctrl right click for a car, but would like a faster/ easier way.
Is there a way to display the information by cursoring over a car or clicking a car? On the HO layout the physical cars have reporting marks to ID them.

Most current freight cars have ARN or automatic running numbers that are displayed on the side and roof edge.

You can see the amount of freight carried by each freight car by turning on Commodity overlays while in the session editor and hide them in Driver.

Commodity overlays option is found under the Display menu; the 4th icon from the left.

Thanks! I will give it a whirl. I had missed Commodity overlays, but I remember seeing them in Trs2006, I have just been switching between Classic Surveyor and Driver.
