I am constantly getting error messages when i am editing a route

I have just bought TS2009 the down load version, and I am running it on a new GateWay Dx4200-09 a Quad system with 4 gig of ram, and Vista OS. The build on TS2009 show number 40040, is this the latest or do I need to install any other service packs/updates?

I've recently (Aug 2009) purchased TS2009 WBE. When I launch the simulator I get a number of notices which includes a note that Service Pack 1 is available. The note includes the following: Service Pack 1 posted 17 Dec 2008 ". . . in the new year (2009) we resume . . . making even more improvements for TS2009". Are the "improvements" and/or "fixes" in Service Pack 1 not already incorporated in TS2009 WBE? Or do I still need to download SP1 to update TS2009 WBE?noveg_knapper, canada
If you tell us your current build number then someone will be able to tell you what needs to be done, if anything.

With each version of Trainz, installing the most recent service pack will automatically include all previous service packs. Or to put it another way, you don't need to install any of the intermediate service packs.
The most recent service packs are:
TRS2004 SP4
TRS2006 SP1
TS2009WBE SP2
It's extremely unlikely that there will ever be any more service packs for TRS2004 or TRS2006. At the moment SP3 for TS2009WBE is being beta tested and SP4 for TS2009WBE is being developed.
Trainz service pack files always have two numbers in their names. The first number must match precisely with your current build number. The second number is the build that will result after applying the file.
Other software also has service packs, for example Windows XP and Vista, so it's sometimes necessary to make it clear which product is being talked about.

why does this happen?
whenever i try to install sp1 it downloads and says This patch file is not applicable to your current installation version. then some code pops up that goes: (Build hash: 0fa7afa5ba80f8f6b13df2b6547e3ce2)

You may not need this service pack. What is your build number?
Start the game. The Buld number is in the lower right corner. If you got it yesterday, then you most likely already have SP1 and don't need it. There is a downloadble SP2 already, which you might need. The current version (build) is 42203.
