Asking for some DLC purchasing advice

Hello all,

I’m in the market for some new Trainz DLC today, and I wanted to ask for some help from my fellow Trainzers about which DLC I should purchase. I’m already planning on picking up Swedaryn Island, and I can budget for another 10-20 USD of DLC content at the moment. I want to get the most gameplay value I can for the money I’m spending, so I’ve included a list of the DLC I’m currently considering below. I want to get the maximum possible play value out of my next purchase, with a focus on replayability wherever possible. I’ve also listed some further criteria based on each category (loco, rolling stock, route) of the DLC I’m looking at choosing. I figured that I’d come here and ask for some advice on which of the DLC would serve me best, especially in the long run, since it’s going to be another 2-3 weeks minimum before I can budget my next Trainz purchase. In particular, I’d like to hear some thoughts on each category (locos, rolling stock, routes) that will help me decide on future purchases from this list.

I’m considering the VR K Class pack because I like Aussie steam, and also because I have some hopes of potentially making use of the scripted smoke on other locos in my collection. It is, however, the most expensive item on the list, but goes well with the Bairnsdale-Orbost route if I want to run a steam-era session.

The rolling stock packs were all chosen because they have a session already built into them, and the Broadway Limited pack would go nicely with the PRR T1 loco pack I already have. My only question about the Broadway train set is whether or not I can find an equivalent and/or better set of cars elsewhere (either free or paid). In the case of all of these packs, I’m looking to try and get the biggest possible gameplay value out of them.

As for the different routes, I’ve listed all of the ones that are within my current price range, but would like advice on which ones offer the most gameplay potential for me, especially in terms of replayability. My own preferences lean toward doing plenty of interesting switching, but I usually like to have some space where I can just run the train for a little while between switching ops if possible, and I do like to run the occasional passenger train to relax, especially if the sessions are well made.
