Pennsylvania & Berwind crashes Trainz 22

I just tried loading Pennsylvania & Berwind 2.0 in Trainz 22 and it crashes, causing Trainz to immediately quit. I haven’t loaded that route in months. What can cause that? I’m still on SP5 because I read that SP6 has issues with that route. Is there a way to fix it short of installing another Trainz 22 and try loading it without service packs, or running a DBR in my present Trainz 22? I could also try restarting my computer. I’ll try the DBR first, then restart, then if that fails install a new Trainz 22 without service packs. What is the minimum Trainz version needed for P&B 2.0?

Just for info, having gone thru many Trainz versions over the years and finding out what in one Route would work with an older Version, and then buying a new Version of Trainz, that Route now has one or all of the following issues. Errors, Crashes Faulty Assets.

With that said, I now run two Versions of Trainz, TRS19 and TRS22 both Platinum editions. I also use PEV's Tools when possible to fix simple stuff, like missing Texture issues Etc.

The one thing that gets in the way, PAYWARE protected developed assets, that generally if they go bad or fall under Version 3.5 non supported assets. You can't fix them, most of the time.

The end result, if said Payware or other non-payware assets don't work anymore in either of these Versions of Trainz I run, I delete the offending Assets. Or in case of Payware, I disable, when Trainz won't let me delete them.

Also when one of these Trainz Version, now only in TRS22 occurs, then I have to make sure after a Version Update, to do DBase Rebuild and Verification, afterwards making sure I do Faulty Assets run, see what shows, fix it or delete it.

In conclusion, when I went to TRS22 Platinum, I ended up having to uninstall some of my older DLS or DLC products to clear up crashes or Faulty Payware Route Etc.

Your mileage will vary accordingly.

Most important in all of this, make sure you have backed up your Assets, and/or Trainz Files in a separate Drive and/or a Good Cloud back up. You decide how much time and hassle you want to invest in your backup.

I downloaded the smaller route from Jointed Rail into 22 and that works but the larger route still crashes Trainz. I can't find my original route cdp and my past and current emails aren't found on Approach Medium so I might have to delete and buy it again and reinstall. I don't know what else to do.

Did an update break it? I tried installing it in 2019 but it doesn’t show up in the route list in Surveyor on the main route menu. I might have to install a separate 22 without service packs and try that. What is the minimum Trainz version that the route needs?

I tried installing a new 22, but halfway through the install the blue screen with a sad face appeared and my computer rebooted. There was a kernel error. That means that there is something seriously wrong with your hardware or software. My Windows 8.1 became corrupted. I might try installing again but if it happens again then I have two options. Get a 2 tb external drive and move important files from the C drive to it, then reinstall Windows, or install a new install of 22 to a second computer with Windows 10 on it. I can try my existing 22 again to see if the route loads, but if not then I have to do one of those two things.

Does the route show any errors or warnings? There's not really any reason why it shouldn't work if it worked previously.

Just submit a ticket through my site and I can reset your download.

There's something wrong with your machine or your install. It loads up fine here; I just tried it to be sure.

Hardware problems such as a failing disk can cause problems especially BSOD. Low disk space usually doesn't do that.

I think it could be the internal hard disk, it’s over 6 years old. 2019 I think. I had to replace a computer that got struck by lightning. The other computer was just fried. Power surge I think. Also I’m running Windows 8.1 which is way out of date and my computer got infected a couple years ago and hackers hacked sites I belonged to including Steam, my email, changed the passwords and recovery emails so I couldn’t get back in. I had to rebuy a few coaster simulation games like Planet Coaster when I created a new Steam account. My debit card was hacked because the numbers were on the computer. Hackers bought stuff and we had to get the funds refunded and our male cousin who manages my card wasn’t a happy camper. Parts of Windows are corrupted and I can’t access certain things and my bookmarks and history got corrupted and are blank. I feel that a new internal hard drive and a fresh Windows install is the answer but that would involve sifting through less than 2 tb of data to move to an external. And all of my Trainz data. I do have a second computer with Win 10 on it that I use for Planet Coaster 2 which requires Win 10 to run. It has a beefier graphics card, an RTX 2070 Super 6 or 8 gb. The computer is maybe 3 years old vs. the other one from 2019. That has a GTX 3GB card but Trainz runs fine. I successfully installed 22PE again on my 2019 computer. I freed some space on C to do it. I tried loading the route on the fresh 22 install and it loaded. Now it’s installing over 7000 assets from the DLS which will take most of the day then I have to install the dependencies from Approach Medium. I don’t know why just the 2.0 P&B route quits my SP5 22 but it works on the new install. I was afraid of updating the other 22 because of certain bugs that SP6 introduced, like breaking locos that went above notch 8, and making large routes stutter with low fps. When I installed 22 again it seemed just to install the latest build, is there no way to install a fresh install without service packs or a lower service pack anymore?
