Just thought I would post some screenshots of my small Wagga Military/Domestic Airport.

That green Hanger Landing pad is from Ian and the helicopters move to it, open the doors then rise upwards with a couple of rotations before flying off.

Ian's Qantas 737 is a bit large for a country town though I hope that may change soon as the Financial Crisis is over and Qantas can buy some smaller aircraft ..... hint :hehe:

airfield5.jpg

I have limited space in this area as its someone else route (by Peter Gibbons) and I did not want to upset the "feel" of his work and the rest of all the merged routes of his I have together.

I am not overly happy with the hangers or the Domestic Terminal (for a country town). Bill's new hangers are a bit to large for the area I had and there is not much in the way of terminals around.

@Gordon, I have turntables in those Hangers, great idea and again many thanks.

I have just been checking out Bill's new A380 Hangers and they look great. There is even a little door for the push tractor to drive through :)

While doing so I noticed this and wondered if it is my 2010 or have others seen it too, and if so why has no one mentioned it !!!! :hehe: :hehe:

Or did I miss a post :hehe: It is a great effect, the cars just drive sideways up and down the road, brilliant work Ian, very well done :hehe:. Once I joined more road to the terminal everything was back to normal.

I also wonder if anyone can recommend a small (2-3 carriages) "high speed" looking/type train/tram that could be used to transfer passengers to a major Railway Station or another terminal area?

Wow Craig, that looks really nice :)

I been trying to get myself to try out all of Ian's and Bill's creations in an airport, think it may be time :)

Cheers

Craig, you must be having a lend of me.

The road I used in the model is by Mike Green, now that should be reliable, he had made many road assets. I don't recall my actually seeing cars run down the road when I was testing the model, but sideways? Must be a new way of increasing traffic density.

My TS2009 map does not have cars in Surveyor, toggling the car icon in the menu does not generate cars, I have used the default map for the test routes, does that not have cars running? Just tested a new default region map, no cars, an Australian region, cars, I must have missed something here, or are you all going to tell me to read the manual?

NYC, I did think to make a demo route with the components and helicopter lift tables etc, but found that my test route was just getting cluttered, and I realised early on just how much work there is in laying things out properly and testing them all. I use simple loops then when it gets too large and slow to load, I make another small diorama and move on. As I work in TS2009, I realised the route would not help any one using TRS2006.

Jamie,

No I do not have a definite program of aircraft to make next, whatever I get interested in.

I do use the Blueprint site for diagrams, they have a good selection. Ones with fuselage cross sections are very useful but not that common.

I am working on the FA-18 at the minute, that will take some time. It is an aircraft carrier plane so that opens up some possibilities. I have it landing on one at the minute, with tail hook deployment. I hope the finished model will have missiles, guns, refuelling nose probe, folding wings, tail hook, drag chute and perhaps other animations. I am running out of settings on the Aircraft Action Trigger for all the animations, currently 9 allowed. Boat is going to update it with more trigger settings.

Hi Ian,

I always have a break from the computer each afternoon and watch some TV, it lets my eyes refocus on something else. While I was I thought, why haven't I seen the strange effect before. Many times when I lay a road the traffic, while turned on, may not always start up and other times it will.

When I saw the effect, apart from laughing, I started another route and used the "United Kingdom" region and sure enough once the Terminal was in place the cars where still behaving the same. So it was not interference from any other items on my blank baseboards were I am just placing the various items.

Mike's roads are about the best around and I have never had a problem with them. As I said, when I added more road to the terminal the cars then traveled correctly. Maybe it is something to do with 2010 as I remember reading that Auran have made some changes with the cars. From memory they (Chris I think) said there has been a problem with cars in Trainz from the very beginning but no effort had been made to fix it. I think they started to do something in 2010 so that may be why I see it, though I have not seen it in any other creation.

Very strange.

Oh and funny :hehe::hehe::hehe:

Craig and Vulcan, you can also use AJS Roads and streets as Andy released a texture that is very similar, very handy for roundabouts and multilane roads

Did anybody like my airport plans?? (Page 40)

Just to add to the confusion. Ian when you first started with your "domestic" aircraft, the A380 and Terminal, I laid out your items on a "scratchboard". After a short time I started another one and that's the one I use now but I still had the first one.

I now know why I never saw the problem before, because the problem was not there on the first scratchboard ..... in a way :hehe::hehe::hehe:

airportscrewup1.jpg

As you can see, the traffic in the left lane is going the right way but the traffic is going in reverse :hehe:

I placed another terminal down and had the cars on it going sideways. So now I had one terminal with cars in one lane (the right hand one) going in reverse, and the other terminal with cars going sideways.

So I rotated the second terminal and then had NO cars on it :hehe:. I saved the scratchboard and exited out and returned to see that the cars on my second terminal where now traveling in the correct direction, while those on the original one had the right hand lane cars going in reverse.

I then placed a third terminal and on it I have cars traveling sideways. Now I have a scratchboard with 3 terminals and a lot of very confused cars :hehe:

Sorry Jamie, yeah I did and I especially liked the way you have the walkways to the planes set up. That's what I was playing with when I discovered the car problem.

Very cleaver, great idea.

Hi all,

Craig and Jamie, your airports look great keep up the good work.

Ian and Bill, your models just keep getting better and better keep it up guys, but please do try and take a break some time :hehe:

Suggestion for boat`s trigger update, maybe making it directional? that way the aircraft could travel through the marker with no action taking place until it goes through it again on the return trip. would be ideal for my C-130 loading would not need the bypass track.

A smaller type Hangar/Shed,

work in progress

Is this the size your looking for Craig? It takes 2 Tiger Moth's.

Cheers,

Bill.

Seeseeme,

there's a good light rail/premetro style trainset on trainzdepot.net. It's the Düwag U2. I don't think you need to register to DL(I know I didn't), but it's very good.

Oh, and there's a automated people mover by Wessex electric nutter(of the Westinghouse CX-100 variety), its an orange model, based off the APM at the Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson Airport

Thanks for the comments on my "limited" Wagga Airport, there much appreciated.

@ Bill, I love the new Hanger and the textures. In my Airport it is not the size of your Hangers that are a problem, it's the area I have to use. Plus not trying to alter the overall scenery of Peter's route. I already have about 20 routes merged together and putting in a more detailed/expanded Airport would look out of place. With all the great content being released now though my next project may be an International Airport/Military based "small" layout.

@Isaac, many thanks for the help, I'll have a look.

EDIT: Isaac, I could not find the people mover :(

Domestic Airport

G'day!

Here's a small fictional airport I built. Looks a bit like Launy! :hehe:

I have finally started building my Airport but it may take some time :hehe::hehe::hehe:

Excellent work Craig, but you may want to hire a few more workers to get that airport ready for the rugby world cup, oops sorry that`s here in NZ :hehe:

Gordon

mind you the way things are going your airport will still be finished way ahead of time.

How's this for stupidity, they built a new railway station by the stadium in Auckland, but the idiots made the platform to short for the trains.
