Many SW1500 Engins Now Have Bad Assets in HF4 (latest hot fix)

I can run many sw1500 engines in all previous versions of TS12. However the latest HF4 now makes previously warning labeled assets, needed by the engines, as needing an update and no update is available. Another ill conceived change to the rules in secret.

I gave up on Hot Fix-4 and returned to Hot Fix-3. I tried an update from 58414 and I tried an update from 49222 all had new problems. However, each preHot Fix-4 worked so I am staying with 58414. Fortunately I had the old versions on the system.

I saw someone on the forums saying that fixing 10 things and breaking 5 was their definition of progress. True in a numerical sense. However in terms of quality that is a terrible outcome.

What kind of problems? You should have stuck with HF4 as there are other nice fixes in there.

If you are referring to the sound issue, this is a simple fix which can take about 3 seconds to repair.

Install Audacity. Set the project (at the bottom) to 44200 Hz. Open the broken asset
Resave the .wav files.
Commit and you're done.

If it's the same sound for all the assets, fix one and copy the same sound to multiple files afterwards. I did that and repaired 30 passenger cars all at the same time.

I have multiple SW1500 engines in HF4 and have not encountered any errors. Same goes with the .wav error. Is it the engines themseleves that shows it needs an update, or is it one of the dependencies?

I just went to download Audicity and McAfee gave me a large fire-engine red screen saying this is a dangerous download.

What gives?

Issue was assets. One I can remember that is used in many SW1500s is SW. I could find no way to get it out of Update Available status. Selecting it and then clicking download did nothing. In the previous Hot Fix version that action always provided a new download of the updated asset. There are two or three other SW1500 dependent assets that suffer the same inability to update. Although I was focused on the SW1500s there were other similar dependicies that would not update. Yes, I also have the .WAV issue as well but, as you said, that is a fixable item.

There is something unique in a few customers setups of hardware or software that causes this stuff. If I were the vendor I would spend a few AU dollars to see what they are. There may be a way to prevent adding errors to fixes in the future.

Worked like a charm, very simple fix. If I can figure it out, anybody can.

The above details works great, I am repairing very easily. Just that easy.

I have an error

I don't have an error

This is a waste of bits, electrons, and time.

POST THE ERROR and the ASSET KUIDs. You might be amazed to find someone else has already solved it for you. If not, then at least those who routinely DO solve these things in the community will have something to WORK WITH - not to mention helping others in the future.

I really have no need to move to61388. It is easier to just forget the problems and stay with 58414. So long as the vendor helps with one hand and hurts with the other it would take a significant update to get me into fixing things that the vendor broke. Back to USING Trainz.
