Kuji Rail sim release date Friday 5th October 2007

Well, I'm going to have to eat crow and say that since this sim was such a botched up crappy job, I'm going the duration and waiting for MSTSx, now. Meanwhile, it's TRS'04 for me...:)

I have bad feelings when I knew that it'll be released under EA Games logo. AFAIK no one sim games and RPG games released by that company was suppoted well. I mean patches :o , any upgrades, any improvements. I still playing Battlefield series games from time to timeand still glitches and bugs exist there. I have in mind that EA still using customers like beta testers. I can't explain it other way. So I'll stay for now with TRS 2006

Well, EA download Manager system is a crap. Nobody is answering there, the problem remains, so my advice:

Do not buy anything from EA on-line! What a useless attempt! Money and time wasted!

Edit: Alan, you're great at the wheel of the helpdesk! Those at EA are really useless!

- no easy, intuitive way to delete your own routes (yet another joke, you have to hack through XML files and clear up folder structures in explorer)

Mr.Jingles

Now that is very interesting. XML started off as being a file exchange format. As such it was more important to have data reliably labeled than it was to think about efficiency. It means that the file sizes typically can be twice or three times their optimum size. They need more hard disk space, more main memory, more cpu to process them etc. Not the way I'd go when trying to wring out the last ounce of performance from a system.

Trainz is still "best there is" when it comes to user friendly, easy to use, extensible rail simulation software.

I've heard this opinion expressed several times already since the release of KRS. I find it somewhat ironic, since the only thing that we seemed to hear prior to the release of this first new "next generation" sim was how Auran were going to have to "get with it" and perform a major upgrade to TRS in order for it to keep up.

I realize KRS is still in it's infancy, and MSTS2 is nowhere near release, but I think the fact that TRS seems to be holding up well compared to these modern releases is a huge compliment to Auran and the amazing piece of software that they've designed.

Hi Patrick,

The only thing we are asking the Brisbane team is 'keeping working on improving' and getting a new (or semi-new) jet engine.

Most of us over here are satisfied and pleased with TRS (I myself with TRS2006) and IMHO TC is not the right track, unless it is a temporary funding stage.

Take care,

Alberte ;)

Is anybody having problems with the EA Download manager? What on earth is a .viv file? What should I swap?

Not a very good start, really not!

:confused::confused::confused:

Edit: it seems that everybody is going through the same problem...

Not a good way to attract direct-download RS'ers! Not being very lucky these guys at EA and Kuju! :o

I appreciate that certain RSadam's interest but what does he think we have been doing since 12 hours ago?

A bad start, no doubt. :o

Hi,

Yes Alberte, i fully agree thats just we want. TRS with a new GFX engine that can handle great FPS.

I agree with Mr Jingles, this game is terrible, nothing else to it. I purchased it yesterday and after about 20 minutes trying to get to grips with the very MSTS1 style drive mode (even with that annoying, ill sounding doppler effect) and then the uselessly complicated route editor, I went on TRS2006 and loaded up Harcourt's UK Branchlines with a sigh of relief!

Long live Trainz - Nothing could top it! I do think Auran should work on a new graphics engine though.

Matt

If you mean a demo, there's none yet.

If you mean a downloadable commercial full version, I don't dare to guide you given the problems we are having to download after purchasing it at the EA website.

OK. ;) Some of us are trying to test it too. Just for fun.

Well, RS has been being offered on-line by EA --> http://eastore.ea.com/servlet/ControllerServlet?Action=DisplayHomePage&Env=BASE&Locale=en_GB&SiteID=eaemea

But I wrote 'has been' because it has disappeared from that catalogue this evening. If you have been reading this thread, you'll have noticed that everybody (I amongst them) who ordered downloadable RS from EA hasn't been able to download it because of their EA Download Manager Software that seems not to be working.

Maybe this is the reason why right now RS is not available from there. Please stay tuned to that site or this thread. I will tell you.

Take care,

Alberte

Seeing if I can talk myself into buying it if I see it in shops in Liverpool tomorrow.
For my interest may be useful as regards creating realistic scenery.
dem data srtm2 data function maybe included in update mentioned.
Blender plug-in mentioned after 3D Canvas plug-in.
Blender tutorials on my site

http://www.barrywright.clara.net/

Just got trainz classics and can get the static items into Surveyor of my boats, canals and dock content OK but don't know about about the drivable boats, etc as linked to invisible bogey, horn sound etc from 2004 version.
I don't think I feel like sorting all that out again so think I have talked myself into looking at Rail Sim.
Incidentally a few are posting on UKTS Rail sim scenery designer thread so at least people are making a start.
