If I try to do the usual Helper download involving the Content Mgr 3.6 It goes through a process on the the Download Helper window in the CM but ends up with a red colored asset and the Retry button shown and no download. Happening for two days.

If I use the FTP process I get the CDP file and can drag and drop it onto the Content Manager ok. ???

Did an extended database repair - same problem.

Tried TS10- 3.3 Content Manager and same result. Maybe I have been banned for conduct unbecoming a customer?

FCT good until 05/05/2012

Are you logged on in CM? Also, is there a bar at the bottom of the page?

Cheers

Fully logged-in. The bottom bar indicates Ready and the selected as well as available items. Also, have the full online DLS list on screen.

I found the network diagnostic test and it shows:
Error: Download failed - error 2.
Error: Test 'ftp dls' failed.
Error: Download failed - error 2.
Error: Test 'ftp firstclass' failed.

All other tests OK.

Although the opening DLS page shows a valid one of the several poorly coordinated Auran servers is not getting the proper info.

Hi Dick,

It sounds like your Content Manager is somehow not communicating properly through the firewall (this includes the hardware firewall if you use a router to connect to the Internet)

Have you tried changing your password in your profile? (Make sure Trainz is closed first)

Good thought. I had made a name change in an attempt to force a server to server re-sync but no go. Unfortunately, the password change also had no effect. I entered a Help-Desk ticket. At least the FTP works.

Another thought I've had.

If the FTP method is working OK, but not the CM method, have you checked that your proxy settings are correct in Content Manager?

Also, just another thought, try downloading a .cdp file from a 3rd party site and seeing if that installs ok.

Essentially that is what I do with the Auran/DLS FTP function. It downloads the CDP to my PC. Then I simply drag/drop it to the Content Manager and it is loaded into my database.

I think that the problem is that my FCT (good until 05/2012) has been mangled in the server that holds it. Somehow the Download Helper function believes that I do not have ANY right to download from the DLS. However, the FTP part of the system is quite happy with my FCT and downloads at the speed expected for an First Class Ticket.

Dick,

Can you download at all from within Content Manager, and not the "black pages"?

I ask this because sometimes the black pages can get out of sync with the local database downloaded to Content Manager. When this happens, you can see the items online, but cannot download them. When they are pulled into Content Manager, they come up as unknown and produce the Red error message.

Just a thought.

I am not familiar with Black Pages.

The Content Manager works normally except if you show the Download Station and drag/drop an item into the Download Helper window. Then it goes through its process but the item and its dependents are all flagged red as it attempts each download. Same for local items.

The same thing happens if I use the Download Helper option from the DLS web page.

So maybe I have the Black Plague (pages)!

I sure hope not, wear a mask please! ;)

The old online Download Station we used since the beginning of Trainz time is called by other the black pages.

The symptoms you have are exactly what I said before. You can FTP download, but cannot get the files directly from Content Manager. This is definitely signs that your database in Content Manager does seem to be up-to-date. Performing a database repair usually forces an update by deleting the cache. You could also try deleting the stale data from the cache folders. I have never done that, so I don't know what the outcome will be. In the past, I've waited a few days, then everything straightened its self out.

Since I get these errors fron the Content Manager Network Diagnostics it seems that the problem is with the Down Helper code recognizing my FTC but FTP is quite happy with it.

I blocked the cache folder and a new one was created but problem remained.

Diagnostic errors:

Error: Download failed - error 2.
Error: Test 'ftp dls' failed.
Error: Download failed - error 2.
Error: Test 'ftp firstclass' failed.
