Content Creator Plus Problems

HI, I've had trainz for a while now but i've never been able to get CCP to work. Does anyone know the things i need to download for it to work because I keep getting the error that it cannot be opened and the whole send error report mumbo jumbo. I was wondering if anyone can help me...
Eric

I think I know what has happened - have you remembered to install .NET Framework 1.1? (It's on the Trainz disc(s) - if it's the DVD, it's in the install folder, if it is the cds, its on disc 5. (File is called dotnetfx.exe)

I can't seem to find it... Anyway my problem also is that I have Content Manager Plus not working in TS2006 and CCP working in TS2006 but not 2009 so if I have one of the two working...I'll be fine. Does anyone know what to do with this CMP Problem in 2006

An additional note regarding that...

Once you have installed .NET Framework 1.1, it is advisable to install .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1.

Be aware though: a restart will be required after at least one of those installations - probably both.

You have not said much about what operating system you are using, but my (calculated) guess is Windows XP based on the info given.

Nothing seems to be working (oh and I do have XP by the way). I can't really understand why CCP isn't working for 2009, but I really can't understand why CMP isn't opening for 2006! I don't really know what the requirements are for CMP v1, but I'm surprised that v2.0 with 2009 is working! Does anyone know how I might fix my CMP in ts2006?

Problems not fixed

Sorry but dotNetfx 1.1 or 1.1 Service Pack 1 don't seem to help with CCP for 2009. Also, help would be much appreciated for if my CMP works for 2006, then I can use CCP for 2006 too.

To get CCP working in 09, you will need .NET Framework 2.0 (preferably including service packs) -
To get CCP working in 06, you need .NET Framework 1.1 (inc service packs)

Use the link provided by itareus to access these versions - and don't forget the service packs.

We will need more information on the CMP problem though, as that was not covered in the original post.

I click on manage content in the main launch page in 2006 and it my icons literally blink three times and it says Error and Send Error Report or Don't Send. Details are here and if you want to see more of the technical error report let me know

By The Way, I already have 2.0 installed but CCP still doesn't work.

Might be worth running TrainzDiag to see if that gives any clues. The error code you are experiencing is error 5 which is an 'access/permission denied' error. Make sure you are running Trainz on an admin account.

Shane

An admin, or administrator account, is the account on a computer with full permissions.

If it is an administrator account, you should be able to install any program.

Unfortunately, I am using Windows 7, and I cannot seem to remember of the top of my head how to check if it is an admin account on XP. The easiest way of checking though is to click Start, then click the account picture at the top of the start menu. The box that appears should tell you what type of account it is (limited or administrator)

Shane

Well mine is definitely administrator. Another thing that I may want to point out is that Content Manager Plus 2.0 Is working but Content Manager Plus 2006 is not.

If you have CM2 and/or CM3.3 working, stick with them. CMP is the flakiest database manager ever written, in my opinion. It's very prone to lockup for no reason at all and do endless, lengthy database rebuilds. The Content Managers in TS2009 and TS2010 are much more stable and they only do a database repair when you select it.

Since I upgraded to Windows 7, 32 bit, my TRS2006 takes 3 to 4 mins to start up and when I start Trainz from TRS2006 to run Surveyor or Driver, when I return to CMP it hangs up for 3 to 4 mins. to do a database repair. Consequently I never use 2006 anymore, preferring TS2010.

I would have to agree with you, but my purpose for using 2006 is simply to change an asset file premetro island station and some reskins of it so I can use them in 2009 since it won't install in 2009 but it will in 2006. All I need to know is how to open up content manager for 2006.

It's build 2761, and I'm trying to download a service pack but it says insufficient storage space and I have 3 GB of hard drive space (it requires around 300 MB of storage space). I don't really get why it doesn't work.
