Auran gearing up

Erll I won't be buying this one I don't buy payware routes too expensive for what they are. The only thing I like in this version is the new signalling and I ain't paying £15 for that not a bloody chance.
Also improved sound, and other improvements and fixes. I'll definitely be buying it, even with my almost worthless Bush dollars. I'm biased, of course as the Settle and Carlisle route is the only built-in route I've ever been interested in.
Mick Berg.

But what I'm also curious to know is if I use the new style TC3 sounds or engine spec does that mean the loco no longer works in 04 or 06?
I haven't tried moving anything back into TRS2006 or TRS2004 but I'm pretty sure it won't work, at least not as expected. You'll need at a minimum a config for TC3 and another for earlier versions although the models themselves will be OK.

Paul, did you get round to trying the TC3 signals with old meshes yet?
Mick Berg.

I can understand there being not enough of interest to warrant a purchase, but with a revamped signalling system is there really nothing of interest?

Being pretty ignorant myself (I'm sure you guessed that :)), are the improvements not relevant to North America practices or is there not enough information to say?

I guess you could say I'm a bit of an oddball in this respect :hehe:

When it comes to the signalling in Trainz I don't usually get very advanced....having signals that correctly display between "go" and "stop" is more than enough for me. I couldn't tell you what the difference is between a "home" and a "distant" signal is to save my life

Thus, it's fair enough to say that a "vastly improved signalling system" can be just as wonderful as they say and still not capture my interest :hehe:

To be honest, the improved steam handling is almost enough to make me buy it...almost. I suppose I'll wait until it comes out and hear other's opinions on it, perhaps those will push me over into buying it.

You have to smile at advertising people sometimes and the ones setting up the NV3 website are no exception. Read the text below and follow the link.

* New steam physics and characteristics including better smoke, sound and locomotive controls.

That's what you might call showing off the best of your product.

lol, maybe it was cold.. like, sleeping in the station with no fire.. A bit stupid though!

Ya need to read the BlurbS list carefully :hehe:

Code:
This [B][U]should[/U][/B] enable more accurate representation of signalling systems from around the world.

So .. as usual not enough info is given .

Yeh .. right .. sure it was :p

Any clue at all as to why this is on the list for TC3 >>

Alpha issues Some of the problems related to the use of alpha channel textures have been worked on and this results in better implementation of alphas within TC.

It is because people read the blurb carefully that it says that. I've been around here long enough to know how things work ;)

If we had said "This will enable more accurate representation of signalling systems from around the world." and the 'Outer Monoglian reverse splitting home/distant tumble shunting marker signal' wasn't possible then people would be quoting that and saying "Ha!, they lied, it isn't possible."

Also, strangely enough we haven't created a lot of "signalling systems from around the world" either. It has been enough of a challenge to get the UK one right.

The new signalling system provides a building block that people can use to make those 'other' signals and makes TC3 relevant to more than just the UK.

'Should' hedges a lot of bets. ;)

Mike.

I would think the answer lies in the statment :- " Some of the problems related to the use of alpha channel textures have been worked on and this results in better implementation of alphas within TC. "

DaveW :)

In other words: the problem was not fixed in TRS06.

If you have TRS2006 you can see this problem was 'fixed'.

I HAVE trs2006 and the problem was NOT fixed.

I know this sounds really weird, but every time I see or here the phrase 'gearing up', I always hear the sound of a Peterbilt upshifting in my head.
