Your old fashioned, you moany old git. :hehe: :D ;)

But i fully agree with you. There should not have to be a reliance on laws of copyright, in regards freeware.

We should all have the common decency to respect the wishes of the respective creators and think ourselves lucky. That these models are made available to the community.

The old saying is "don't sh!t on your own doorstep".

IKB.

Me, a moany old git! Never! (old git yes, moany sometimes)

Respect for the freeware creator should be paramount, if it ceases and certain unscrupulous individuals abuse their creations then the freeware creators will just stop creating. Thankfully this sort of incident is rare but nevertheless should be strongly discouraged.

Rob.

Honor amongst thieves. Probably couldn't drag freeware assets for a choo-choo program into court. There is that little community respect thing that probably means more than court orders.

As far as the guy who did it, join date of January this year and zero posts. Means he probably doesn't come here. I love a witch hunt as much as the next guy but does he even know he may have done something wrong.

I find it funny how everyone is dragging this out, looking for bans......
Anyone talk to the guy yet? Maybe a future great repainter but doesn't know he messed up?

Contact the guy and let him know. Maybe just an honest mistake from someone misinformed. Never know.

Just a rambling thought before you go three more pages of hanging him.

Dave.......

I just checked, last night, when I previously posted, their were 36 downloads. At time of typing, their are now 62 downloads. Now I'm not sure if they can do this, but is their a way, that people in charge of the download station are able to disable the download, until it is removed? It seems to be have done with very, very early items.

That's what I tried to say earlier, let him (or her, as we don't really know & isn't interesting that people automatically say him.) know etc.

But it makes you question how uploads are approved. The picture clearly shows the copyright of Skipper1945, and the UKBL logo, so N3V would have known that a non-UKBL member was uploading questionable content.

Now sure, that person may or may not have known, but if that is the case, why was it uploaded on the weekend, out of office hours. I thought items were only uploaded in office hours local Queensland time.

Kind of hard to ask a limited staff to check and double check every upload for possible copywrite infringements. Isn't that a major defense for NV3, their limited staff?

As far as when it was uploaded, the weekend? Maybe a school kid seeing as it is a Thomas thing?

Kind of hard to ask a limited staff to dig into every upload to make sure some ownership wasn't infringed.

The community caught it. Bring it to NV3's attention and let the actual owner of the asset contact who uploaded it and straighten it out.

This guy has been a member of the community for less than four months and is already doing repaints with zero posts here. Let the original content owner, NV3 and whoever uploaded this hash it out. If it was an honest mistake through lack of knowledge, bring the person up to speed. Right now there is three pages wanting to hang him out to dry and ban him.

If it was a blatant act, sure, ban him. As of now all the forum lawyers know absolutely nothing about it. If it was an honest mistake, teach him. Only the uploader and original content creator know for sure and they haven't spoken to each other yet.

In the meantime, smearing someone by those not involved solves nothing.

I have for my part made comments on this thread in respect of how I feel concerning this particular issue and have subsequently sent a ticket to Auran in the hope that they will resolve it.

However , I refer to a line in the above quote ----( Their are members like the one in this incident that actually do this.----,) I`m sorry if I have misread it and it is not refering to me , but I would point out that I have NEVER at any time created for or had any involvement with TTTE.
I understand that, by that line, I meant that the theif is not the only one, many users in the randome that steal content from TTTE Content creators.
Your particular incident was not the first, we have it all the time, some TTTE fand get driven away from their childhood idol because of cheep reskinners and other types(It's not Trainz related so I won't get to deep in it)
As for what I wrote, heck, I realised I had barely made sence.
It's not your fault that you where a victim... I am still nervous of what will happen to my Caledonian 812 once released... My apologies for the confusion, I was pointing out that not all TTTE fans in the Trainz community steal content.

Ok, guys, time to stop attacking.

Many new users have made the mistake of not understanding copyright/etc. If you see an asset that you believe is infringing a copyright, please contact the author of the original asset, letting them know.

It is then up to the author of the asset to contact us, to request the asset be removed. If it is a first offense from the user (in this type of situation), then we will give them a warning, and give a basic explanation of the "do's and don'ts" of reskinning/content/etc.

Please keep in mind that it may be a couple of days before we can look into it, particularly if the report is sent on a weekend.
