Alert: Content theft on DLS

Magandy & Mstnoodle have received Emails today from Helpdesk requesting the upload of files for one of there models. (James V5)

This content is stolen!!!

Do not D/L this content as it was never intended for the DLS and the required files WILL NOT be uploaded.

Helpdesk has been informed so that this Stolen content can be pulled from the DLS

That was quick, good job to Auran for removing that asset quickly. Let's hope we eventually find who did this, and also let this be a warning to anyone who TRIES to upload content that doesn't belong to them. There WILL be consequences if it is attempted.

I noticed that another asset was uploaded onto the DLS on 2nd March by the same creator/author on kuid 393995, it is a red corona, I'm unsure if this is also another piece of content that has been pilfered from somewhere else.....

My suspicious little mind may work overtime, but, what if one of these assets carries a computer trojan worm or something similarly sinister, that could affect everyone who downloads these things, it makes you wonder doesn't it.....

I wonder if Auran have done any investigating on the owner of this Kuid number ???

Of course, I would gladly offer the other side of the coin and say that this person is probably quite innocent, but, until this is proven, after the last episode, I say, Trainzers beware.......

Assets don't contain executables, it's unlikely that a trojan or worm could be distributed this way. In my experience CMP won't commit an asset containing a file it doesn't recognise.

While I agree that profile information should be mandatory, and your other "advice" might be well-intentioned, scaremongering isn't really helpful - we know next to nothing about the situation, and phrases like "I'm unsure... suspicious little mind... what if... could affect everyone" should not be used for what amounts to making accusations against this guy and his red corona.

Well, if you had taken the time to read their profile, it says that this is a woman......Go and read the facts.

So how can you trust anybody these days who gives the least amount of detail about themselves, that's why we should all be suspicious, especially after the personal attacks made against Trainzers last year.....

And until this person comes onto the forum to identify themselves as not being a thief of creator's content, such as the issue that was this thread's original objective, then I'll always be suspicious, and so should everyone else. Isn't it a little strange that this female has only 1 asset on the DLS and it's a red corona, of which there are over 290 available already ( all colours, that is), what is so special about this one in particular, I wonder.....
And as this person never came on here complaining when Auran deleted the last item they uploaded, it does make you think, doesn't it.....

I was less than pleased with this reskin going on the DS without any request let alone permission and as a consequence I`ve asked Auran to remove it from the DS.
I am more than happy to help anybody out but I do object to my work being stolen.

Noticed this on the DLS and downloaded it out of curiosity, It's based on skipper1945 51xx large prairie. It's a terrible reskin, very childlike. I have now deleted it!

The nerve of some people. I am currently learning modeling with Gmax so i should have some stuff on the DLS, Now i know i need to be careful. Also i have ways of protecting my media.

and to skipper1945: Sorry you are the target of theft, This should not have happened to you, I have seen your models top notch and some guy has ruined them by stealing and claiming it as his own.

A quick off topic here to you, if you don't mind? Could I have permission to possibly upload a blue reskin of your King George V engine once it's finished? I would be happy to send you the file first to check it out and give any feedback. If you say no, no worries as I would only use it for myself (and btw, do you have any problems with screen shots only?).

If you create a freeware asset, no matter what you state in the config file about copyright ... anyone can take such freeware and do with it what they please ... unless they are selling your freeware asset, and making profit ... but even then: "Lots of luck prosecuting the offender".

Publish and upload something as freeware to the interwebs' ... and it is now in the public domain.
