Whats your favorite locomotive?

Hi Again Everybody.
Finally, here is my favorite intercity locomotive/consist:-

An HST 125 which has been the backbone of British intercity services since the mid-1970s. I traveled twice last week on these quiet, comfortable units once up to London and later in the week traveled part the way to Wolverhampton ( change at Birmingham)

I love the sound of the 125s for as we were pulling out of Bristol Temple Mead's at 7:10 Am in the morning I was getting myself a bacon wad in the Buffy car (third car from the front) and as it opened its throttles passing Bristol Parkway you could hear the screaming of the turbo chargers above the thudding roar of the diesels.

even after years of traveling on these units that sound still makes your heart pound. It's a sound that should make any railfan proud. As stated these units have been in service since the mid-70s, cruising at over 100 mph between their very regular intercity destinations.

Something that our American friends can only dream of and plan towards.

Bill
