What is Trainz Simulator 12 ?

[Completely off-topic]

Nikki, go and report it, won't you? ;) This is an invitation.

Are you going nuts, dear guy? Can't you read? Do you need special glasses? Who is really going hysterical?

Link? Sexual? Display?

I at my age know the limits very well, remember I'm an old-time experienced admin too.

As long as there is an upgrade path from TS10 -> TS12 and it costs about 30-50% of the full product, I am fine with it. Purchasing Trainz over and over is not an option, even if I would enjoy Doppler Effect somehow. :)

I thought that the link to WindWalkr’s N3V link was a really sensible post by aardvaark (#275).

A link regarding TRS12 from high command, where at least some answers could be found.

Now you’d think that most readers would click on the link and get the facts, as far as they are currently available, thus moving off this thread and allowing it to gently slip into oblivion.

But no! Thirty-one minutes later another post appears, immediately removing what seemed to be a substantial thread closing set of buffers.

Hey, wait a minute – look who posted #276!:D

This now looks likely to run for quite a while. Oh dear.

Back to the hysteria.

Cheers

;):hehe: What am I going to tell my neighbours? I hate headphones!!!!! :p

That's why I usually play Trainz silently! :hehe: I'm going to play it 'dopplerisingly' no matter what my neighbour could do, say or call the police!

Now, seriously...

This seems to be a nice improvement... for the 'normal civilized priced' version of T12 in May, June, July, August...

Thank you Casper....... post 276 deleted so as not to continue the hysteria.

Hi Everybody.
Your Windows Vista 32 will be ok, no need to upgrade your op system if you don't want to .................

System Requirements

Minimum
  • Windows XP (with Service Pack 3)
  • 2GB RAM
  • Pentium D 3.4GHz (or equivalent)
  • nVidia GeForce 7200 / 128MB (or equivalent)
  • 15GB free hard drive space
Now if XP (SP3) will run it, Vista sure will.

Thank you for that BLACKWATCH you may just have saved me 100 quid. However, in the recommended system requirements I believe it does state Windows 7 64-bit.

Without wishing to be off-topic could anybody give me a short answer as to whether changing operating systems is likely to be a major problem as I have never done that before (I am no computer expert by any stretch of the imagination).

The only reason I ask is that I have several major programs on this computer Dragon NaturallySpeaking being the main one and I do not feel these would transfer to a new computer to easily especially the voice recognition files which I had problems transferring before.

Anyway, at last we seem to have some measure of agreement on this thread, that being we wish to see a reasonably priced Trainz 2012 download or disk version in May or June with a clear statement of the upgrades from Trainz 2010. If that's all we ask it surely isn't too much.

Apologies again for being off-topic in one part of my posting

What are the chances of TS 12 turning into a multiplayer pre-paid before you can use it .
A bit like download station, very slow if you don't pay
At the moment its free but in a year or 2 it might not be.
I don't wish to throw a curve ball, it's just a thought.

Dr. Michio Kaku may have the answer to your question.

Last I heard, no one can predict the future.

N3V is a business. They will do what is necessary to continue the business and generate a profit to sustain their growth.

Have fun,

As far as upgrading the OS to Win7 64 bit is concerned, it runs all the 32 bit software I have here without any problems, not sure about Dragon Naturally speaking but it should be Ok if it works in Vista 32 which here didn't run as much old 32 bit stuff out of the box as Win 7 64 does. So long as you save your voice recognition file, if you just physically place it in the same place it was in the folder as before, it should automatically find it, the load through the software never seemed to work for the guy I used to work with who used it.

May not cost £100 either, check around Home Premium, upgrade is £59 from Ebuyer and I saw it somewhere in the last week for £39. Actual Clean install OEM Home Premium is around £70 to £80 depending on where you go.

Thanks for that reply Malc, as it's Dragon NaturallySpeaking I am most concerned about as I use it for a lot of reports I do. You hit the nail on the head when you said about speech files not loading through the software after reinstall or upgrade as I have had that problem every time I have upgraded since Dragon 6 (now on 11).outside of that I find the program near-perfect these days (big enthusiast).

I think I would go for the clean install OEM although it is a bit dearer it could save a lot of problems when I come to upgrade. So, all we have to do now is wait for Trainz 2012 on download or disc to be released, see if the new features make it worth buying and if so, away we go on another incredible Trainz journey.

Thanks again
Bill

Dragon 10.0 upwards supports 64 bit os's the older versions do not. I think for sure 10.1 (which is what I use) 10.0 may require a patch which nuance has on their site.

If your on 11 it will run 64 bit fine...:D

I have to use my XP to run Epson Stylus DX3800 so you might not be able to obtain necessary driver. Hope you can.

I really hope is not like TRS2010 that is nothing better than 2009... I've to admit: buying TRS2010 I wasted my money because I turned back to 2009. :(

Hi Everybody.
Thanks for all the help and advice on my upgrade it really is appreciated.

Yes mrscsi thats okay, I am running Dragon version 11 so there should be no problems on that side..... Hopefully.

I must admit I really had not thought about perennials. However I did have a word with the company I do a lot of reports for regarding the cost of ink cartridges and they did some weeks ago " tentatively " agree to go at least halves on a new laser printer with me. So, I think I will go down and " bash " there ears again and see what they come up with.

I think Mario that what will be in the eventual download or disc version of Trainz 2012 is just a guessing game at the moment and not really worth engaging in. All anyone can do is wait and see what the Trainz management write-up about the new version when generally released. You could also wait a few weeks after that and watch what members say regarding 2012 on this forum.

I have a funny feeling right or wrong that we will all be buying it and then as usual there will be a great split by those loving it and those hating it on this forum following that.:hehe:
