I am uploading a session for HarborMaster. It works with TRS2004 and 06, and 09 in Compatibility Mode.

There may be some new comers who haven't yet experienced the pain and suffering of attempting my S&M sessions. Old hands, by now, will know to read my maps, dodge those pesky AI trainz, and follow instructions like:
_____

Chuck, Joe – Dispatcher here. Welcome to our little railroad.
We have an easy first morning for you. Refuel your locomotive and attach those empty log flats standing over in the Container Depot.
Load the flats at the Timber Wharf in the harbor area. Unload the logs at the Log Dump at Matchless Timbers.
Reload the flats with lumber at Matchless and take this to Hyde.
Unload the lumber and reload with empty wooden crates.
Unload the crates at Sintering & Ceramics and reload the flats with 40ft containers at the S&C loader.
Take the containers to the Container Terminal and unload them.
Reload the flats with steel coil at the Heavy Lift Wharf and deliver this to Oleo Wire & Cable.
Load the flats with steel cable for unloading at the Dry Dock.
Finally load the flats with 20ft containers at the Container Terminal and unload these back where you started at the Container Depot. Sign off back at Loco.
All movements can be made as switching movements. You must give way to all other trains. You must keep within the posted speed limits.

First off, make sure you have the maps of the route, mouse click here:

This is a pictorial walk through to help the less experienced:

Refuel your locomotive and attach those empty log flats standing over in the Container Depot.

It all starts at 0630 with our GP60 here:

NewBee_01.jpg

and with the empty multipurpose flat cars here:

NewBee_02.jpg

Load the flats at the Timber Wharf in the harbor area.

How you get there is up to you, but you should end up here (assuming you didn't prang into one of the AI trainz in the process):

NewBee_03.jpg

The logs will load when the flat cars are stationary between the yellow markers.

Unload the logs at the Log Dump at Matchless Timbers.

So back we go again, and unload here:

NewBee_04.jpg

Reload the flats with lumber at Matchless ...

The lumber loading point is tucked in behind the log dump:

NewBee_05.jpg

... and take them to Hyde. Unload the lumber ...

You might decide to take the eastern route, up and over:

NewBee_06.jpg

and if there is an AI train, give it priority at the next squeeze point:

NewBee_07.jpg

before unloading the lumber here:

NewBee_08.jpg

... and reload with empty wooden crates.

Unload the crates at Sintering & Ceramics ...

Again, how you get there is up to you, but you should end up here:

NewBee_10.jpg

and unload the crates here:

NewBee_11.jpg

The crates are used to pack ceramic Trojan Horses.

... and reload the flats with 40ft containers at the S&C loader.

Which is here:

NewBee_12.jpg

Take the containers to the Container Terminal and unload them.

The horses are for export overseas. Make sure you unload on the correct track:

NewBee_13.jpg

Reload the flats with steel coil at the Heavy Lift Wharf ...

Here:

NewBee_14.jpg

... and deliver this to Oleo Wire & Cable.

The steel coil is used in wire and cable manufacturing. Unload right up on the upper level:

NewBee_15.jpg

Load the flats with steel cable ...

Which is done inside the long shed:

NewBee_16.jpg

... for unloading at the Dry Dock.

The cable is to be used for rigging of a sailing ship:

Finally load the flats with 20ft containers at the Container Terminal ...

Again, make sure you use the correct track:

This is important:
You must give way to all other trains.

Your session will come to a very abrupt end if you don't. Use the map view and the 4-key view to scout for the AI trainz. They may appear from unpredictable directions.

Know issues:

I've stress tested the AI trainz on TRS2009 for over four hours without untoward events.
However, it is possible that loading or unloading at an interactive industry may cause the AI to misbehave. I'd suggest frequent saves.

TRS2009 shunts the AI onto the second core of a dual core PC.
If there is too much stuttering in TRS2004 or 06 try toning down the frequency or the length of the AI trainz. This done in the Central Portal Control rule.

Feedback is welcome.

Allow 2+ hours to complete the session.

Everything needed for the session is on the Download Station.

Hi Phil

Great to see a new environment, I don't know how you continue to churn them out!

I'm just starting the test session but cannot find any log flats in the session at all, (even using 'ctrl>f') I have 2 empty 'Container TTX Econo v 2.1' standing where you show the flats in your session walk through pictures. Will these be compatible with all the loads?

Cheers
Terry

Hey Terry - the test session is completely different from NewBee.

I've uploaded NewBee to the DLS, so it should be there soon.

The test session is just to let you run around the route dodging the AI trainz. It's an introductory look at the route and totally different from NewBee (well, except that the AI is the same).

Phil

Ooops, my mistake!

Will you be putting NewBee on Rapidshare? It's just that it sometimes takes quite a while for anything to appear on the DLS.

Terry

Sure. Here it be:

http://rapidshare.com/files/233846481/HM_1a_NewBe.cdp

I think that there may be an issue with loading/unloading at interactive industries interfering with AI trainz pathing. Possibly this is related to ProtoLARS, but I'm not sure. Perhaps it's Multiple Industry New.

Whatever, I suggest saving before using an interactive industry and then using the map view to check that the AI is operating as it should. I know this is a pain, but it's better than finding a wandering AI train coming directly towards you or a mass of trainz banked up at a junction you just have to pass through.

As stated above, when running this session under TRS2009 on a dual core the frame rates as AI trainz pass will be excellent.

I'd welcome feedback from TRS2004/06/single core users.

Phil

Excellent work again Phil, Your a bad man mate. I am trying too get my route done and you keep bringing out these fun and amusing scenarios. I thoroughly enjoy these a lot. Some really make your brain work. The AI trains are a blast, I have so many times got my poor lil train executed by an AI train I sort of thought I would beat..LOL....saving is a blessing :)

Look forward to trying out this scenario, and any more that your mind thinks up.

Cheers

Trent

This **** game. Using TS2009, (you know the fantastic new edition with one detailed train, some new textures which you have to download at 4k/s and no inbuilt content :-( )

Downloaded your route but it would not run due to script errors. I open in surveyor to look at the session rules and it appears I'm missing "set_driver_conditions_rule" which for some reason didn't come down from DLS , so I download that and open it up again in driver. Then I get ...

DriverCommands : Thread Exception: ER_Exception, line 167, file DriverCommands.gs (1)
DriverCommands : World.FindDriverCommand> not a DriverCommand asset (file world.gs) (1)

so I open session in surveyor again and cannot find any engine. I check I'm in compatability mode OK (i am) so I add *the* high res train save as a newly named session and try again.

Arrghh, so i go back to content manager and find a load of missing dependencies, and get into the session... at last. :-) Nice one

Hi sauleve --

This is what I've done.

The route and session were made in TRS2004, so it doesn't matter which patch you have applied to TRS2009.

On a second PC I have a perfectly clean installation of TRS2009 - nothing added from the Download Station or from elsewhere.

On this second 'puter I downloaded the route, making sure to capture all the dependencies and that TRS2009 is in Compatibility Mode. The route works just fine.

I download the session, and again made sure that I have all the dependencies.

Again it's fine.

Are you sure that it's not your installation of TRS2009 that is the issue? Have you modified any assets perhaps?

Anybody else having issues with this one?

Phil

Thanks for the reassurance Trent. Appreciated.

I hope you are keeping a weather eye open for those AI trainz. The route they follow from one portal to the other is quite complex and they can appear from an unexpected direction at any time.

I see form your edit that you have it working. Good luck. Make sure you have the maps.

No I love it Phil. I'm a novice to the whole trainz thing, just started with 2009 and I can't believe how poorly documented and lumpy the whole thing is. I used content manager thingy to get to DLS to get your route but first time around it didn't pick up some of the dependencies ( little things like locos etc.) but after I figures that out and harvested them manually it worked like a dream.

So its not your scenario mate its Aurans end.

I'm not savvy enough to have altered anything off my virgin 2009 install, plus the SP1 , but I get 2 errors which seems to be par for the course for their content database

On logs 50ft clinch empty

Warning: Tag 'icon0' in the container 'traincar' is obsolete.
Warning: Tag 'icon1' in the container 'traincar' is obsolete.
Error: The tag 'number_high' is not permitted within this container. (Container type 'traincar')
Error: The tag 'number_low' is not permitted within this container. (Container type 'traincar')
Error: The tag 'number_prefix' is not permitted within this container. (Container type 'traincar')

and on up gp60 2024

Error: Texture 'mesh_body/Main1.texture' is missing or could not be loaded for mesh 'hash-32\content drn1aig938\mesh_body\mesh_body.im'.
Error: The texture 'stepblk.tga' is not a power of 2, please resize it.
Error: The texture 'stepwht.tga' is not a power of 2, please resize it.

Error: Unable to load texture 'grillsside.tga'.
Error: Unable to load texture 'map3.tga'.
Error: Unable to load texture 'sfsilver.tga'.
Error: Unable to load texture 'sidegrills.tga'.

I have no idea if thats likely to be my end, dls end or asset end but maybe you do.

Thanks for the great route and sorry to be a noob!

oh and sorry to be a complete pain in the hoop but

http://rapidshare.com/files/231615394/HarborMaster1_Documentation.zip

gives me a HTTP 500 - Internal Server Error

2010 Industry Problems with logs

Totally awesome route. I love it! Having lots of fun. I'm in 2010 going through your scenarios. The MTP industry doesn't load/unload properly. I can't get the logs to unload. Well, to be more specific, the cars say they are"empty" but the logs don't disappear.

I've taken empty containers there and tried to load. They won't. When I select quick load, logs appear not lumber. As a matter of fact, at other industries if I select quick load, logs appear not the objects at that particular industry.

Thanks!
-Robert

Hi Bob --

Thanks for the comments, but that's not good news at all. I'm assuming that you are using the sessions that come with the TS2010 route and not those on the Download Station?

I'm still waiting on my TS2010 DVD, so I'm unable to run the sessions just yet.

But I can assure you that I tested all the sessions and they did function as intended in the early version of 2010 that Auran made available to me.

I'll check them when the DVD arrives.

Phil

2010 updates

Okay, I'll keep you posted then. I'm saving the sessions, putting out empty cars in new ones, both Clinchfield and CSX log cars, to keep testing and trying. I've tried all tracks at MTP and many directions.

Not all tracks have the load/unload markers on them at the Hyde Wood Manufacturing. Not sure if that's intended.

I'll go through the rest of your routes and even see if there are cars with crates or lumber in them at all. Just on the Welcome scenario now.

Funny, I've been reading all the posts on prototypical operation vs. fantasy/model. All I can say is, you nailed it for me here!! It's big enough, but small enough. Tons of industries I love. It's feels big, but then plenty of chances to see other trains kinda like a model railroad. It's a great blend for me.

Good on ya,
-Robert

Hi,
I am fairly new around here, and i have downloaded this route and scenario. It looks great and i cant wait to get into it.
Just a quick question before i get too deep into Newbe.
At the beginning, do you actually have to go somewhere and re fuel the loco?. or is it just artistic license?
Oh..another question..
Are there any instruction scripts as you progress through or is it just the initial instructions as listed at the beginning of this thread.
I have the maps etc downloaded which i can load on another screen, but just wondered if there were going to be pop up instructions as i went.
Many thanks for producing so much stuff, i will i am sure be downloading many more.
Giggsy.
