Much thanks Annie. I guess I never thought of it that way but to me I still see routebuilders like you, Ken and Frank to be leagues above myself in such terms. I look up to all of you immensely and I guess I take it a little too far sometimes.

It's fine Tanker, - you have absolutely nothing to apologise for. Compared with when you first started on your Southern Railway projects the work you're doing now is really something. I can be my own worst enemy though as I'll look at something like the rebuild I did of Gwinear Road station and think it's nothing because it's only a small junction station in Cornwall of no great importance, but in actual fact days of steady work and a lot of research went into getting it to how it looks now. The whole station site and yards had never been properly levelled out for a start, so I had to do that before I could even begin to plot everything out.

Paul and I already have the Canopy, Bridge and Station Building/Hotel ready for the game. The Canopy itself was heavily damaged during the Luftwaffe's Bombings in the early stages of WW2, so by 1950s the glass had been removed from the canopy leaving the beautiful iron framework exposed. Sadly this too was disassembled in 1959 and by the end of steam in 1967 Cannon Street looked unrecognizable to us steam enthusiasts. I'm actually really interested in doing the Glass Canopy from the Pre-Grouping in the future as I am growing more and more fond of the SECR Pre-Grouping locos and rolling stock.

It would be really something to see Cannon Street as it used to be. I tend to follow the LSWR when it's Cornwall, but for London the SECR has been gradually capturing my interest. Such an absolutely audacious piece of Victorian engineering deserved to live again even if it's in digital model form.

London Bridge is quite easier if I am being quite honest since our beloved Klambert modeled the buildings for it bot so long ago. After extensive research I discovered that on the Footbridges and Entry Building are unusable due to being set for the modern era. London Bridge also got significantly bomb damaged during the Blitz but it wasn't repaired as quickly as Cannon Street. However, the central terminal building, canopies, offices, and Borough Market Junction Bridge are all useable for 1950s-1960s operation. It seems the heavy overhaul of the station didn't commence until steam was long gone from London. A blessing in disguise if you ask me.

It's good that you have got assets you can use for London Bridge. I've been aware that Klambert had done a lot of work on late BR era London routes, but with being focused on the pre-grouping era I've never thought to go and have look at what he's done.

The real challenge is finding adequate signals to represent the route! I prefer the BR(S) Signals Chrisaw has generously made for us to use as freeware, but the Southern and BR Library of his signals is rather limited unfortunately so it makes it difficult to make everything accurate as by the 1950s South London used a 70/30 mix of Electronic and Semaphore Signals. I've been fortunate enough to discover some 1950s Electronic Gantry Signals for the main lines but these too are limited.

Chrisaw has done an amazing job with the number of signals he's created, but the problem is that with so many signal types he can only really provide us Uk Trainz folk with the most common varieties. Even with the GWR mid 1930s to late WR steam era signals which would have to be the largest group of signals he's created there's still types of signals that are absent from the range. I would really like to talk to him about a basic range of GER signals, but I don't want to take advantage of his good nature.

I'll probably tackle Charing Cross after these two before looping back around to Norwood Junction to start filling in stations towards London Victoria. I believe Holborn Street was closed at this point besides it's connection to the Widened Lines so I'm sure I can revisit that in a bit. After I get Victoria and Waterloo working I'll finally ve ready to release the beta tester version! It's kind of exciting to see it all finally coming together!

Exciting is definitely the word for it Tanker. :)

George's old Schools class certainly still looks the part. Considering how long ago it was when he was creating his amazing engines he was very much leading the way for other creators to follow.

Good morning everyone!

I am back after a long break. Excellent shots as always!
So two weeks ago I got married! We went to the Scottish Highlands for our honeymoon, we visited the Glenfinnan Viaduct and saw the Jacobite pass, hauled by a Black 5.
On the way back to the midlands we stopped at the KWVR and went on the Flying Scotsman footplate! Oh and one last thing... I finally took my driver experience day at the GCR, was brilliant! The loco I was allocated to was BR Standard Class 2 2-6-0 "78018".

Will be posting some pics soon!

Cheers,
George

re post #6202 Tanker46.
A proper update to the "Schools" would be nice. Here's one in black, IMEditor and env-metal.tga was used.

That shot of Gwinear Road is superb, the curve of the platform is shown to goodly effect. Very very nice.

Congrats, an excellent start to a marriage.

Some excellent screenshots here! Loving the Schools Class making an appearance...by any chance, does anyone know how Skipper1945 is doing? Or is he taking a break from all things Trainz?

And congrats George! That's incredible, and it's also nice how you drove a loco.

Again, very nice everyone!

Best wishes

#6210. Oh my word George, - now there's some amazing screenshots. My first taste of Trainz was the TS2009 World Builder Edition and I really loved it. Eventually I moved on to TS2012, but TS2009 still very much has a place in my heart.

Thanks very much Ken. Getting the platforms at Gwinear Road plotted out and shaped correctly just about drove me nuts, but I'm really glad that I persisted with it.
Nice screenshot of your black 'Schools' by the way.

That's an excellent screenshot there Annie (#6204).

Thank you kindly John.

Hi Annie, thanks for the kind words. It is in fact TS2012, but for some reason it has never appeared on my profile, even though I am logged in in the game with the same account and buy my FCT on this account to. Very odd.

Here's another from surveyor mode, been making some nice heather covered mountains today.

That's a very nice route! Feels a lot like the SnC, and I like it a lot! For TS12 appearing on your timeline, you have to contact the Helpdesk for that. Bought my copy off Steam a few months (maybe a year) ago, didn't show up, contacted them, here it is.

Regardless, those are some great screenshots, and I'm very glad to see you again!

Oh thanks! I'll get in touch with them then, it's very odd because they all appear on my MyTrainz Account where I've activated all the serial numbers.

Thanks also, it's great to be back on trainz again.

Good morning everyone,

Today I ran a little "Scottish Steam" festival on my Highlands Line. The highlight of the day was a double headed running of a Caledonian 294 Class and a Highland Railways C Class. Pulling a beautifully preserved rake of Caledonian bogie coaches.

Does anyone know where I can find some Highland cattle on the download station, my searches have not yet prevailed? :o

Enjoy!

Some lovely screenshots there George which really show off the work you've done on your Scottish route. As to Highland cattle, - sorry no, I can't remember seeing any available anywhere,

#6204 - I appreciate your straightforwardness and kindness Annie. We share the same sentiment on many of these topics and it's nice to see I'm not the only one thinking about this. I'd be extremely open to doing a Pre-Grouping Route from London Cannon Street to Chatham or Dover one day, but the biggest downside is that there is a MASSIVE shortage of SECR Equipment available in Trainz. (Particularly the D, E and L Classes and 4&6 Wheeled Coaching Stock ) It's definitely something to consider in the future though!

#6208 - An outstanding reskin Ken. You always make some of the best custom designs I've seen in Trainz. I still am in awe over your taming of the 94xx from a while back! :hehe:

#6206 - Well you're certainly a sight for sore eyes! Welcome Back George! In addition to that, Congratulations on your Marriage - I hope you have many wonderful years of bliss together. Such wonderful news to hear from such a good man!

#6213 - Last I heard from George, he has taken a retirement from Trainz as his hands don't cooperate with him anymore, making it difficult to work on precision work that things like Trainz requires. He still pops in from time to time, but it's been a long while since I have heard anything from him. His models still continue onwards though!

Honestly it warms my heart to see so many people's love for George's models even now. The School Class seems to have a large following here on the forums so I have no doubt that someone will pick them up sometime in the future. Hopefully by that time I have extended the SR Project to Hastings and everyone can run them on the route they were originally designed for!

Not in the same vein as the fantastic shots above, but a little sneak peak of what I've been working on before the SR Project May Update...

#6218 thanks Annie, it's been quite enjoyable building this so far, free from constraints of the real world. Although I'm currently in the process of trying to find some 1900-1940s quarry and mine track plans to add along the route. Lovely shots of the sentinel there, that's barn700's isn't it? I've been enjoying his industrial locos recently.

#6219 thank you for you kind words tanker! Much appreciated indeed. And a nice atmospheric shot from you there. I can almost hear the way steam locomotives echo in station canopies like that.

Lovely screenshots again Ken. :)

You are very much welcome George! Welcome back my friend! :D

You comment is exactly what I am going for in regards to this particular station. This is my first time modeling a London Terminal so I'm taking it slowly. Working on something as large as London Bridge Station is bound to have serious issues if I take it too quickly. The tracks alone are a maze but getting the buildings settled just the right way is another ball of wax altogether. I really wanted to capture that feeling of those smokey, bygone days of BRs Steam in the 1950s and hearing your opinion of it makes me feel like I'm heading in the right direction!

I'll keep at it and post some more pictures as I finish development of London Bridge. Please keep an eye out and let me know what you think! I'll be keeping an eye on your breathtaking Scottish Highland screenshots as well! ;)

Well it's certainly looking good tanker! I look forward to seeing more.

Here are a mixed bunch of shots from my highlands line. Different eras and operators. Some shots also of the area that is currently very WIP.

I am very much enjoying building this fictional route. Just adding little bits at a time and going back to older areas and adding details. I really must find someone to make a couple of highland cattle items :P

In terms of real routes I am toying with the idea of getting back to building the Ashby & Nuneaton Joint Railway and the Burton to Leicester line (LMS-BR period) but it does require much more concentration and sometimes I just want to be fully creative with no rules! Haha!
