abs77,

Delighted that you like my `mouse`work.

What I am doing is an early sixties version of the ECML route from Retford to Newcastle. As you can imagine the whole route from KX would have become too much of a task to backdate, so I decided to delete everything south of Retford along with all the Lincolnshire boards. (Painstaking yes, but had to consider computer capacity).
For the time being I have retained the Doncaster - Hull sections which I am also hoping to `oldify` should capacity allow, if not then its chop chop!

This project is not only about railways but also to give folk an idea of the industries that once thrived alongside the ECML & contributed to the flow of freight traffic. Other Trainzers such as Lewisner, Durham Lass, & Ekin1972 have already undertaken similar projects covering Sunderland, West Durham, & Darlington areas respectively & have produced excellent stuff from scratch. (Envy those that can TRANSDEM, hope to get my middle aged head round it one day).

I am not sure how long this project will take but I think that it will be years rather than months, but if & when I do complete I will propose uploading to the original ECML creators as only they can decide. Even if it is accepted the timescale for testing & tweaking could be quite significant. I must also add that I have included a fair amount of payware (S & C content), on this route which may have to be substituted before any distribution can take place.

In the meantime for everyones perusal I will be providing a regular supply of screenies as the `oldyfication` moves along this route.

Great to hear that the old NER is getting some good cover and I look forward to following your progress in future. I admire your patience in being able to delete so many panels south of Retford, that must have taken some time.

Durham cathedral looks very realistic by the way.

Talking about J39s, here's one south of Lavenham running an empty minerals train up to Peterborough. Obviously a perfect pic to post in early July!

Great shots neville_hill. Good to see you've got some people out on the platform shovelling snow. Nobody turned up to work in my version! And who is that mysterious Miss Marple-like figure who appears in Lavenham and Mold? She certainly gets around!

I suspect she's trying to locate the Orient Express :hehe:

Thanks for the comments! I have to admit she is one of my favourite Neoklai figures but I hadn't realised she got around quite so much. Blimey now she's made it to Melin Y Wern just as a Stanier tank bursts through:

I must check if I've used her before (Ashburton?) I have a feeling she should be on every UK branchline route of the 1950s/60s!

Your route is looking good. Excellent use of foliage.

Great seeing the ECML being used to an earlier state. Pleased I put in those embankments ready for you at Ferryhill. :)

Stuart,

Pleased that my `mousework` is appreciated, & yes I must give a big thankyou to you & the ECML team for not only including those embankments, but also for `Transdeming` & `terraining up` a lot of area surrounding the ECML. It certainly has made life easier, & because you had the foresight to mark the course of many former branch lines, all layout builders have to do now is research & put mouse to work over your foundations.

If I still have computer capacity at the end of this project I will certainly attempt to add the Leamside & Consett lines, but that may not be for some considerable time.

I must say that I am pleased that the ECML layout came along at the right time as I did originally start on the Durham - Ferryhill areas, (I thought that the old industries in that area made it interesting), with TRS2006 building on the foundations of the Yorkshire layouts by pd1138. Tyne & Wear Metro by builder300544 then came along, also partially converted that, joined the two up, also adding some plain infill boards for scale distances, & ended up with a half decent passing resemblance to the ECML from Heaton to Ferryhill. BUT MY ATTEMPTS AT THE TERRAIN PRODUCED AWFUL RESULTS! I was copying on sight from ordnance survey maps stood in front of the screen, using the asphalt parking lot spline, raising it & clicking on the leveling button - very painstaking & pleased to say that the ordeal is now over.

Still retained the above & use it for reference purposes, & it served as a good apprenticeship in route building, & again thankyou.

If you ever do the Consett and Leamside sections I can give you the matching terrian. Be nice to have these sections added to the ECML. Darlington to just south of Berwick is one of the areas that Ive built.

Had kept a blank baseboard area with the Hertford loop track laid seeing if anyone would be perpared to build this. May delete this for future builds.

Cheers
