TRS19 Early Access - Update 1 now available

This glossiness is so disappointing to see, I am saving up my pension leftover ££ each week for the full release and hopefully all will be OK when I have enough.

It does beg the question of quality control, how did this get past final inspection before release?

We agree it is disappointing but the challenge to avoid a bug like this is bigger than you may think. There are a lot of items in Trainz and only a small percentage are affected. We’ve identified the problem and will resolve it asap.

For those wondering about the issue, it is a configuration error in these items (probably caused by copy/paste from configs that predated the alpha=texture tag).

So if the normal texture.txt file doesn't have an alpha=texture.tga tag in it, this would cause the input to set "normalMapAlpha" in the shader to be 1.0. Making roughness really smooth.

Updating the normal texture.txt file would solve the problem, but given the number of items affected, we're working on figuring out the best code "workaround" for the missing tag.

Thank you for your response Tony,
I look forward to the full release version :)

Great job thanks for letting us know.
Cheers Mick.:)

One day we will have a GOD programmer who will be able to write a whole sim without any bugs... Never going to happen way are people so surprised????

Limitation to transfer between trains.

Hi all.

I have an unknown in TRS19 that I do not know how to solve it. If I have 20 trains circulating on my Route (that I imported from TANE) and I want to go from the train I'm driving to another train that is not currently on the screen, I can do it with the key combination Ctrl + (number from 1 to 7). In TANE there is another very practical possibility that now TRS19 no longer presents it, and it is choosing driver and its locomotive directly from a drop-down list on the screen. This is so provisionally in Early Access until N3VGames launch the definitive final version of TRS19, or will it really be that way?

If this issue were to remain that way, it would be a serious problem because it greatly limits the possibilities of TRS19.

I hope this is resolved soon.

John,

You can do that via the driver list as well similar to T:ANE. The interface is laid out differently.

Click on the driver for your consist. and this will bring up the list of drivers assigned to the locomotives in your route. You can then scroll through the pop-out windows and find the consist you want to switch to.

If you are in a locomotive, clicking on the eyeball to view the other driver's train, will put you into that consist. Clicking on it while external will leave you external. The functions are similar with the other camera views.

The drivers can also be reached by clicking on the menu tools located at the top bar. Unfortunately I'm not as familiar with the screen layout and whether it's the spanner where the edit consists is located, or it's the one to the right with the windows.

Hi John, thank you for your reply. That worked very well! I had not noticed that detail of the eyeball.

best regards

Keeping you up to date, the team have resolved the shiny/glossy problem that was appearing on certain assets.

Now we have not-so-shiny, happy people :)

Thank you Tony, looks much better. An advantage is, you now know how to make everything shiny again for when TMR2020 comes around.:hehe:
cheers
Graeme

Checking the asset it appears that the glass material isn't too bad, but the background through the glass is making it look opaque. I think you will find that this is more a case of sometimes photos can look pretty strange too, and on top of that, the limitations of computer generated content by 3rd party content creators over a 15+ year period.

That's terrific and much appreciated. Number 240 looks great. That'll keep a lot of assets off the rip track, no doubt. Should we expect an update or patch?

Many Thanks,
smyers

Release date for beta is most likely next week. Later than that for "public" (although anyone who can access public can access the beta).

I'm having a slight issue updating. Trainz is telling me there is an update, however when I go through the motions i get an Operation Failed message. It states the path is occupied or something to that effect. I'm no computer whiz so I'm not sure what to do.
Any ideas guys?

90904 to 96191.

Are you setting the update stream to "Beta" - because the update is still a beta?

Have you tried the alternative update method - using the Patch Installer.exe application? It is located in the same folder as your TRS19.exe application.

Hey mate,
Yes, the installer is showing beta stream.

No, I will try that. Didn't even know about that method.

EDIT: yeah I've got no idea what I'm doing. haha
