Trainz Update Announcement (SP6)

V-sync can cause stuttering. I found that this varies between driver versions in particular those from NVidia. For years I ran with v-sync off and performance was great. Then driver updates forced me to run at half or full. More recently, v-sync needs to be off for my performance to be better, but I still have shadow issues.
I agree with the shadows, not only the blocky look but ,they eat up frames as if it was a restaurant buffet, until that's fixed, it's likely going to stay off, I'm looking for directx 12 myself.

Please fix the engine, not just the graphics, the engine... Trainz World is better, it's useless even if your RTX GPU is good, if the engine is bad and stutters, what's more the RAM is increasing, the developer should think about it, fix the game engine!!!

After updating the PBR, the textures have such stripes, also the FPS dropped where it was just great.
As usual, you can't do anything right the first time... And where are the vaunted testers?

Trainz,

I'm having problems downloading DLC. Also, some of the Assets on the Routes & Consists that I have are faulty. Can you please this this. Thanks. All of this came from the Beta Testing Site.

8 months have passed since build 5.6 released for TRS22. Any updates on upcoming fixes for this complete disaster?
I'd let them work on whatever bugs they have been given from the most recent beta. It would be nice if we had a bit of communication from the crew though.

Could you elaborate on that "complete disaster" point?
Awful performance. In specific: constant FPS drops which make the game a slide show. It's not a throttling, it's not a route specific. It lags even on empty tile which wasn't a case for build 5.5.
Moreover, that lost frames impact also scripts execution bringing delays to them.
The majority of Ukrainian community experience that, so they had to roll back to SP5 version to play instead of struggling.
And my system is powerful enough to run other modern simulators smoothly on high graphics settings. In the same time, Trainz keeps using 20-40% of its capacity lagging, freezing and annoying.

The only disaster for me is trees in the distance not appearing in screenshots, but I workaround that by using the Windows Snipping Tool to take screenshots.
Apart from that, SP6 runs very well, even on the highly detailed routes that I am building. It fixed a track laying problem with junctions not forming correctly and I see very little stuttering or lag.
I find performance varies with installed hardware. 32gb RAM is the minimum I would use and while I have DDR4, I would like to upgrade to DDR5 at some point. I get good performance with a GeForce RTX4060 8gb and an AMD Ryzen 7 5700X CPU. Lower specs than these and I would expect to see lower FPS and some stuttering.

I have used TRS22PE extensively in testing routes and session that I have developed in Trainz Plus, many with areas of high detail where you would expect slow FPS rates, lots of PBR textures and effect layers. I have not experienced any of those issues and, as I noted in my post above, the performance in TRS22 seemed to be better that it was in Trainz Plus. But those are my experiences. I appreciate that others may have different experiences.
