Trainz Update Announcement (SP6)

Hello to you all. I have a question about the newly Imposter System added into this SP6 patch. I found the low-res trees now generated by this Imposter thing (I use a lot of st_rmm trees) too dark in coloration. Is there a way to fix that? Thank you in advance.

So will we hear the developers' response regarding the patch or not?
@n3v_laurence may respond (but there is about a 12hr time difference between you and him) but N3V does not monitor these threads 24/7 (if at all). If you want to communicate with the developers then their Discord channel will be the best option.

No response in Discord either since yesterday.
Got a response on bug report, but it's rather a polite way to say "We don't give a f... Give more details" and so on.

How many staff do you think that N3V have on call to answer all user requests, complaints, questions, etc? They are a small "bare bones" operation.

When I put in a bug report I get an automated response to acknowledge that they have received it and it includes some advice on how to amend the report. An actual human created response can take several days, a week or even more. It has always been that way.

For now, I'm interested in the answer to the question of why the fps is low after the update, even on an empty tile, although this was not the case before the update

Can legally download any Steam version of the game via the Steam console.
The game is downloaded to a separate folder and will not affect your main game installation.

Open steamdb website on the tab of all versions of Trainz 2022 available for download: https://steamdb.info/depot/1784571/manifests/

Press 1 - to select the version format for copying.
Press 2 - the link of the selected version will be copied to the clipboard.
Press 3 - to open the console, paste Ctrl+V into it from the buffer, Enter, and the download will begin.

Replace the game of the latest version in the Steam library with the one downloaded via the Steam console.

Then disable the game update in one of the ways acceptable to you:

I have found that the ambient light level is a bit lower than in the past. I increased it a small amount to brighten up the colors of everything. That being said, the monitor I use does have a tendency to get darker between calibrations. I plan on re-calibrating the color profile on all my monitors over the weekend. I may have to lower the ambient light back down after that.

It doesn't mean payware soft should be such a low quality one. You see, people pay money to play, but for many users it became completely unplayable after the latest update. It was irresponsible to release such a disaster. Which reaction should they expect?
I don't think it's ok to pay for being a beta tester for Auran.

I am not paying to be a BETA tester, I am paying for early access to Trainz Living Railroad which is running as I type this. If Auran allowed non-Trainz+ people to BETA test, then they would have early access to new features without paying extra as long as the BETA test period.

As they are effectively doing a job for N3V, using software that probably isn't working entirely correctly, I'm not sure that's unreasonable.

• For those who would like to reverse to SP5: in your "MyTrainz", right-click the Download button for SP6, copy the link and paste it into your browser, then replace the SP6 Build# with the SP5 one and hit Enter (e.g. for Trainz Plus, replace 131950 with 128486). This will download SP5. It will work until N3V removes it from their server.
• For Trainz Plus, don't forget to patch to 129343 (SP5 Hotfix).
Will this work to get back to SP4?

Accept they could stop at the last BETA and they would be getting a Trainz plus benefit without paying extra like I am. Now you probably would say that is fine accept just because someone downloaded a BETA version does not mean they actually did any testing.

I don't see what would be so difficult about going back to the old-fashioned way of testing.

1) Establish a dedicated beta-testing team by soliciting users who want to join just like they did with the Xbox version and previous versions of Trainz.

2) Have the users sign an NDA if necessary.

3) The users are given the task of testing and reporting. Have them use specific steps to test specific things, if necessary, as well as free test the new upcoming version.

4) After these beta-testers are satisfied with the quality of the new release, push the release on to public testing.

5) Public testing circulates around to allow various users with various computer systems to test the versions on until everything looks good.

6) Produce an RC version. Let users at it. If all is well...

7) Release the product.

What stops them? M O N E Y. Doing this the right way costs money.

Well, with this release, they have lost money due to having to redo and retest, come up with a hotfix or two, or three, and in the process, they have lost the goodwill of the community and added a nice brown smear on their faces from releasing the crap initially.

If I wasn't a longtime user of the product and purchased this version, I'd probably relegate it to the trash bin just like I've done with other programs in the past. Way too many actually to count.

Another thought. It seems that some beta testers are not finding issues reported by others. Put me in that category of not having problems. So, the question is whether the problem is the program code or the user's system and setup.

Would it be feasible for those with a problem route/session to share this route with others to see if the issue exists on multiple systems. If it does than it most likely is a program coding issue. If other users do not experience the same issue, then a closer look on the user's computer configuration needs to be examined to determine why that user is experiencing the problem and others aren't.

There could be a small group of beta testers that "sign-up" for this part of the testing. It can be very frustrating if one person is having an in issue and others say everything is fine. The individual's computer is an unknow variable in both the Trainz setup configuration and the actual computer specifications. Its sort of like testing apples and oranges. It seems to me that this would more clearly isolate the problem for the programmers and the users.
