Trainz Update Announcement (SP5)

I had the same problem with the “spline incompatible” message.
I did an EDBR (enhanced date base repair) but it didn't help.
Then I tried JC's solution. Still the same thing.
I noticed in passing that the built-in tracks were not affected.
So I chose a track of my own creation (which is not built-in), deleted it, reloaded it and submitted it. And it works.

But it's just a stopgap....

Try my workaround.
Close Trainz.
Go into Content Manager.
Search for your tracks using category track.
Open up all your track for editing:
Select all - click on one and press CTRL+A
Right-click and choose Open for editing.

Submit all DLS track
Rever to original all built-in and DLC track.
I used another option to fix everything that is possible at once.
Close the game. In the default directory if it has not been changed: %LOCALAPPDATA%\N3V Games\trs22
Leave folders only (do not delete):
packages - Purchased content
original - Downloaded from the DLS
local - Installed from other sources
backups - Backups, if you need it
Delete all other files and folders. After that make a DBR (or it will start automatically after launching the launcher.) and next you will need to log in to your account in the launcher and make the settings again.

That works if you don't have a lot of custom routes and content. I'm a greedy gut and download lots. Reinstalling from backups and off the DLS, in addition to 3rd-party content from disk and websites can take days. I did that at the beginning of last year and it worked okay but it was a painful process.

All third-party and modifed content will remain in local folder and it doesn't need to be re-installed.

These three folders contain all your content, regardless of where it is installed from:
packages - Purchased content
original - Downloaded from the DLS

Okay. I've probably done this by doing the following:

Delete:
assets.tdx
asset-cache.tdx
asset-cache.tdx.wal (the lock file it exists)
Clear cache/internet
Clear cache/libraries

Clean hard drive, defrag, etc.

Then upon restarting, the DBR runs immediately and quite quickly and you're good to go.

Something I noted with build 128486:
- After installing the update the database repair (not an extended one) was around 16 - 20 hours (around 2 TB istalled content).
- After installing the update and eight updates plus the Coal Country from the content store, there were six assets I had to download from the DLS.
- "Unable to plot the route, junction is missing a lever". In this version the consist is - other than in earlier ones - driving to the junction, which is out of order. Some junctions of older routes can often not be moved during the session. The consist is then saying "the junction is missing a lever". A workaround during the session is, to change from driver to surveyor and there to change the direction of the switch and then changing to driver once more. For a definitve solution I think you have to controll in surveyor all switches and save the session. Has someone an other solution?

I haven't gotten that far yet. I can't think of any other way around that. My DBR took about 14 hours. I have about 1.5 TB.

3) The default grass ground texture in Surveyor is now an ugly dirt/muddy grass color on my route. Any way to bring back the SP4 green default grass texture? Could the new default ground texture be causing the lower frame rate?
I can't say I've seen that issue, as yesterday I accidentally opened a new route on my SP5 and the ground texture looked normal.

2) Lower framerate when working on my route in Surveyor. The spline rotating circles are stuttering as they turn. This was not happening until SP5. (I have the same graphics settings as when I was running SP4)

I've partially experienced this; the tabs in Surveyor and the menus also stutter however the framerate hasn't dropped. I've also noticed that when editing HD terrain that whereas before it used to be quick and smooth, it now takes around 10 or 15 seconds to apply the changes and when smoothing under a spline in S2.0 the 'running task, please wait' box appears whereas before it didn't, and this is true for all splines whether it be track, fence or road and whether it be 5m or 500m. Hopefully we'll see a hotfix before long.

Cheers,

PLP

I have the SP5 Update (128487) to TRS22PE and, after loading and running my largest and most track and consist intensive session, I do not see the rotating spline circles issue in Surveyor Classic or the frame rate issue in Driver. So something else must be causing this issue.

The default ground texture in TRS22PE is <kuid2:661281:85115:5> Base Texture which is Built-in. I do not know if it has been changed or not because I always have my default texture set via the Region asset - currently set to <kuid:-25:1180> Grid (PBR) which is a Base asset (never sure what "Base" actually means but it came installed with Trainz).

Try changing the texture to something else - there are USA Region assets on the DLS that you can download and install to experiment with different default textures - to see if that is the cause of your frame rate issues. Information of using Region assets can be found on the Wiki at How_to_Create_a_Region_Asset

What's the problem? Saying something is broken doesn't help with getting the problem fixed because not everyone is experiencing the same "problem" or has the same assets installed. If it's a track issue, see my post on how to do that.
