Trains do not follow track on all in 1 asset 1-beton 52m BLP. Any reason why?

Which leads to the next best solution, make some!

Oh it's not as hard as some would make you think, especially if you start from an existing one that works. Study the config file and see what parts you need to make. Tracks are not very complicated objects, no animation, few parts. The trick is to keep the number of polys as few as possible and still have a good looking object. We want a low number polys per meter because there will often be a lot of track in view and it all needs to be rendered.

Once the rough outline has been made, it's just a matter of refining the look until you're satisfied.

Hello martinvk,

Make it myself, I absolutely agree. The problem is - if I only knew how to do it :(. Do not ask me to make it in Gmax, blender or Google sketchup. In Google sketchup, I can make a very rudimentary house. Never been any good in drawing. :(

Have you looked at http://www.trainzonline.nl/

There is a set that contains among others:
KUID(s) in ... download:
1-beton 2m,<99999:79532>
1-beton 4m chunky,<99999:79535>
1-beton 52m,<99999:38152>
1-beton 52m BLP,<99999:79531>
You'll probably need to register to download the set. It also helps if you can read Dutch:cool:

Hello martinvk,

That's the site where I got the asset. You don't have to register to download, just register to become a member of the forum. Within the forum I asked if g.m. could be contacted. Unfortunately, this is not possible.

Asset with BLP - are all in one assets ( pylons, wire, catenary, track ). The others are tracks only, or tracks with wire, etc etc ...

Ah, I think I understand now. There can not be a short version because of the built-in catenary and their supports. Those are spaced at 52m (based on your description). If the track mesh was shorter and the catenary was still part of it, the spacing between supports would also be shorter.

The only way to have short track mesh and long catenary spacing is to separate the two into two different objects. Only need to do this in curves. I'm guessing the 1-beton 2m,<99999:79532> and 1-beton 4m chunky,<99999:79535> in the same set were designed for that. Also guessing that elsewhere there are a separate catenary objects with and without the supports. GM was a good creator, too bad he has left the scene.

Hello martinvk,

gm did also create wires. If they are to be used in combination with 1-beton 2m and other track assets, I realy can't tell.

I asked the same question of this thread on the Trainzonline.nl forum. No reply received up to now.
