I saw this mentioned in another thread. You can strip out unwanted text from a batch of files in one go.

I cleaned up a batch of 150 config.txt and got rid of the red error message!

Open your files for edit Ctrl/E , then browse for the Editing folder with TextCrawler.

In the file filter box I changed *.txt to config.txt.

Two of the things I stripped out were name and category-era-0 which were flagged up by CMP.

Everyone should have this to go alongside the programs by PEV in their toolbox.

Totally agree.

I've been using a smart find-and-replace text editor called BK ReplaceM for years to clean up large batches of config files. Apart from fixing errors, it's great when you need to change foreign language words in the username field to English (eg. yesterday a batch of about 100 Polish trackside cable assets appeared on the DLS. Once I'd set up the text editor with the translation 'rules' - a 5 minute job - I was able to translate all 100 usernames in 1 second. It would have taken me hours opening each one for edit in Windows/Notepad).

I find myself wondering why the hell CMP, CM2 etc don't have such find-and-replace text capabilities, and for that matter, the things that PEV's tools do, already built in. It would make them content managers in more than name only.
