TANE Beta pushed back a month :(

NSWGR_46Class

Just call my Captain Rude
Just got the email that the TANE beta has been pushed back a month :(

Hope it means that we end up with a better release and nothing else - I know the alpha testes are not allowed to give out any details but was hoping for a few more details from N3V === it is our money your playing with guys :)

Not on the beta team but this kind of tallies with Tony's response to my probing in the "Ask Your Questions..." thread, about the very ambitious timescale to finish between now and a December release.

Presumably there will also be an announcement about the likely delay to the public release. If it's January or February I have no great concern about that, much rather have a polished finished product with the features that were promised, than a turd which ends up with numerous patches and bits bolted on.

That said, N3V need to be conscious they have taken *a lot* of money in advance (including pre-orders) for this title on the basis of an advertised release date, so potentially there could still be many disappointed or angry customers who have paid money but not seen anything for it (yet).

I'm with you on that one Vern,

Hopefully NV3 will get it right first time and launch TANE when it's stable and ready for market. If it means waiting for several months after the current proposed launch date, then I'm for that option rather than have this type of situation:

TANE - Launched on the 15th December 2014. - Users verdict!!! Too flakey and full of bugs!!! Not ready for market yet & as a result; 21th Dec14, Hot fix one (HF1) - 28th Dec, HF2 - 4th Jan15, HF3 - 16th Jan, SP1 - 24th Jan, SP1 HF1 - 6th Feb SP1 HF2 - 17th Feb SP1 HF3 - 26th Feb SP2 etc, etc...... 17th April15 SP4 HF3.....

I think more people would be p_ssed off if they don't launch a "stable product" (with only a few minor bugs), rather than launch "on time" only to find out its riddled with bugs...

Your thoughts!!!

Cheers, Mac...

Not bothered if it's late or not, personally I'm quite happy with the ongoing progress. Very few things I was ever involved in testing actually made the first planned release date.
Worth noting that those who contributed the most money are already involved with Testing anyway, no one seems to be complaining.

Count me as somebody who couldn't care less. I'll take a better, more-stable product in a second. I'm sure N3V isn't too happy about this, either, since the Christmastime target was so important, but I'd be quite happy if T:ANE is put off til spring, if that's what it takes to squash all the bugs.

I find the OPs e-mail interesting in that I have received no such e-mail.
Not saying he did not get one.......
Also, just looked at the Pre-Beta site and there is no mention of a Beta delay at all.

I personally would rather it be a little late and stable, than early and full of bugs. We have went thru several alpha and pre-beta tests, and I think all of us agree that we need to concentrate on performance and stability at the forefront. This is the path N3V is taking, which is why it is putting off the Tower Interlocking feature at the present time. Hopefully, this will produce a better and more stable product when released. We don't want another build that generated so many bugs, and the negativity that followed. A little patience here will go a long way, and I think they are on the right track to having a decent release. I know all of us on the Pioneer Council has been pushing for this, and N3V has been very receptive to our input.

Good Morning All
As noted in our kickstarter update ( this can be found here: https://www.kickstarter.com/project...lator-a-new-era-create-drive-operate-sh/posts ), the beta has been pushed back so as to allow us to provide a feature complete beta. However, as noted, those who will receive 'beta' access will also have access to the final stage of the pre-beta if they choose to have a go at this.

We are still looking at the initial release to be on time, however as noted we are now going to leave the interlocking towers for a free update, so as to give us the time and resources to work toward completion on time.

Regards

I agree fully with this. Let's get it right on the way out the door rather than patching more afterwards which would require extra support from everyone. There's still a lot of work to be done to bring it up to full beta and the more we focus on getting these things polished and worked out, the better the product will be.

To be honest, I don't care if the product showed up in December as along as it is done the right way all along.

John

Amen John. Take all the time you need N3V, because I'd rather be waiting than getting sorely disappointed when I see the final product.

First impressions count. In your case N3V, it's the last chance you guys have to make one.

I pre ordered the collectors and would rather have paid for a finished simulator rather than one that requires tons of updates and patches. Im happy with TS12 at the moment so please guys. Take all the time you need to make sure everything is working as smoothly as possible.

The interlocking towers has been dropped and past exerience suggest a pre-Christmas release is locked in. KickStarter money only goes so far (speculation).

I'm assuming the update applies only to the Windows version?

I agree wholeheartedly. Slow and steady wins the race and I'm happy to wait beyond December to ensure we get the best possible product.

Well if its after the due date, then there goes my Christmas present, But I know its for the good and we will all defiantly benefit from the extra time.

-Cheers
