Routes with US Interstates

Need advice on adding interstate freeways to my route? I've looked in CM and it seems everyone is creating their own highways specific to their model's needs. Unless I missed something there is no spline category for roads. I applied filters to look at what's available. Seems most splines assets are pre-TRS19. I have also read the forum post related to YARN and YARNish splines.

I am working on a route where the freight RR is adjacent to the freeway and electrified high-speed commuter rail is in the freeway median. With commuter rail in the median the freeway needs to look good. I am a novice in Blender 3D modeling and zero scripting or coding skills.

Any suggestions and/or advice would be greatly appreciated.

The download station has a series of one-way, 2 or 3 lane road splines named YARNish divided highways that are used to create 4 or 6 lane divided highways. There are also a series of objects similarly named for exits and entrances to the highway. And plenty of overhead signs as well. There are also merge lanes and ramps that attach to the exits and entrances.

I second this suggestion. A significant portion of a route I'm working on runs parallel to an Interstate highway and a handful of its interchanges. At the time of writing this I'm using the YARNish assets to represent this Interstate; they look and work great!

Ah yes! YARNish objects for the ramp entry merge & diverge points. I missed those. I found the YARNish splines and made them a pick list. Thanks for the reply.

Thats what I started using too. There are so many authors and splines and objects to choose from. I am updating the SoCal Cajon Subdivision from TANE to TRS19 and adding the proposed Brightline West high-speed rail being built from Victorville, CA to Las Vegas. The route's elevations are based on a DEM and an older topography map which shows a lot of the highway alignment detail but is certainly outdated. With the high-speed rail in the freeway median the freeways and interchanges and ramp intersections need to look very good and have traffic. As a former interstate highway designer, I'm picky about the geometry, ramp radi, grades etc. If you are interested, I can share the workflow few tricks I learned using classic Surveyor 10 to build interchanges. They should also apply in Surveyor 20.

Sounds like an interesting project that you've got going on! Hope to see screenshots of it someday.

Also, I'm definitely interested in your methods for building Interstates in Surveyor. Whenever you get the chance to write your methods down, send them to me in a PM. Thank you so much for your offer to help!

If you want to be able to regulate the speed and traffic density, you can use these with the YARNish adaptors, IE exit ramps, splitters etc

Here is the current list

Thanks for these CDE Yarnish splines link. Great job Christopher! They will definitely be going into my freeway models.

What interchange on and off ramp adaptors and single lane ramp splines do you use that are compatible?

Just the standard adaptors and more etc...
