Been there, done that.

And as you can see in the lower picture, it wasn't rack & pinion - it was just four grip wheels on a center rail. I've got a picture of the gripwheels on H199 somewhere... big ask to find it though.

Three NZ locos to be uploaded on Sunday night. As soon as I have proper net speed back, damn data limiting.

Anyhow, the three Bumble Bee locos have all been re-classed. I hope they better reflect the classing system in operation in NZ.

The 2100 has been re-classed as DQA class, following on from DQ class as another QR diesel to be exported to NZ.

Then we have the DD class, the DL531. Having had a look on Wikipedia, I found that that class has not been used on NZ railways. So now this loco has been added to the NZ locomotive fleet.

Finally the QR class, I do know for a fact that these locos were painted in the blue and yellow livery of Tranz Rail. That livery is forthcoming, but for now I've done it in Bumble Bee livery.

hi folks

Two things really, the QR class. Has anyone got pics of them actually in use in NZ. I've Googled a few sites and none of them actually show the QRs actually operating in NZ.

They've been listed on Wiki, the numbers are all in the 2000s, ie 2062, 2056, 2102 came to Tasmania.

http://www.railtasmania.com/loco/loco.php?id=qr

There were 25 QRs in NZ but 15 were converted to DQ class. In Tasmania they are trailing units only, I think banned from being leading units.

Current running numbers in NZ according to Wiki, 2027, 2033, 2079, 2085.

I noticed that the DQs have grey roof and cabs, is that how they were as QRs or were they like they are now in Tasmania??

Anyhow, I've done one for Trainz. This is actually the Tranz Rail liveried 2102 that operated in Tassie but would also be quite at home on a NZ route.

I believe this is the "Fruit Salad" scheme.

Don't worry, they're not going to crash, the three QRs are in a passing loop.

Yet another 2100 I guess, meh, I'm having fun. The route is Kaui2008 by Dinorius_Redundicus. Not sure how close to NZ settings it looks but Deane has put in some nice camera angles. Great for route for screenies, and just an overall awesome route.

Wow Col!,

Your texturing, choice of foliage, those cliff faces & hills are magnificent!.
And I love the settings of "country circa 1940's - 1960's".

An excellent job.
Not only very pleasing to the eye, but you have captured the essence of the region, & faithfully portrayed it.

Your making me homesick for Mt Maunganui!. Those pohutakawas (spelling?) in bloom are gorgeous!

You can be very proud of this work.

I hope you don't think I did the route, Noel.:hehe:

The man who should be getting the credit is Sirgibby, the creator of Murchison 2. Lovely route though, start out on the plains then work your way up through the mountains. If you like a scenic run, this route is just the thing.:)

Firstly my apologies to Sirgibby for momentarily being brain-dead. A condition that occurs in my life with what appears increasing frequency.
If/when I finally get time to once again "go for a drive" in Trainz, is the Murchison Line available in TRS2004??.

Col my apologies for enticing you to have an even more swollen head; for works that are not yours!.
This in no way detracts from your excellent work.

PS Has Craig contacted you concerning a certain lever-set for our route??. :o

Hi Noel

I saw Craig ask that question in the Aussie thread and someone answered him. However, the lever is a built-in item with TRS2006, one of Cardiff Workshops masterpieces.:)

Hi All,

These coaches should be available from the DLS later today. They have passed the first checks and are now in the waiting area.

I finally used Image Shack... Here's my 1st pics (hopefully) from the last year or so.

An EE EMU has just arrived at Wellington from the suburbs. Appears to be a blackout at the station :)

Later in the month, the EO set makes a morning trip through Takapu Rd...

And heads back to town a little later.

I hope these pics work.

Hi Ryan,

Great pics, about time this thread had some additions. I am busy working on an Ausie route ATM.

Hi Ryan,
Nice pics and looks the part. Cheers on mastering Imageshack uploads. I had a similar bother.

Rugrat,
Does that pic of yours suggest we may soon see a DX loco?
Cheers,
Fender :)

Some More Travels 1 (HEAPS of pics)

Warning - HEAPS of pics. But hey, isn't that the reason for this thread?

Approaching Wellington from Paraparaumu. Overhead for the 3rd track is in place.

Arriving on platform 5 today.

I think that lady's about to have a go at me for taking a photo of her...

screen040.jpg

A 6 car red/blue EE set went for a run to Plimmerton & back one afternoon. Seen here at Linden.

screen049a.jpg

Flying along the Porirua speedway.

The Johnsonville Line has been upgraded in preparation for the new EMU's. The grand (Trainz) re-opening was today and the bosses opted for a 4 car red set to do the honours. I was lucky enough to drive the "official" train...

screen056.jpg

Cars start to arrive at Johnsonville to meet the train.

screen058d.jpg

And away we go, climbing out of Wellington yard.

screen059.jpg

Just out of tunnel 1.

screen060.jpg

Just managed to get a pic of the new banner indicator for Wadestown...

screen061.jpg

Arriving at Wadestown for a quick stop for the officials to inspect the works here.

Part 2 to follow...
