Northeast Corridor Newport News, VA to Boston-South Station, MA (1024x 768 pixels)

Hello all!

I have run into a slight snag. As many of you may know this mainline has service roads/paths paralelling it for almost the entire duration.

So I am looking for some (or any) types of service roads.

1. I need both a dirt one and for the mainline definatly a gravel one (gray)

2. They should be about 1 lane or at least skinnier than 2 because they aren't meant for much traffic

3. Preferably traffic disabled but anything will do (if its less than 2 lanes that probably will not be a problem)

4. Poly count and framerates dont matter as of now.

In other news:

I just decided to take the Corridor up to Seabrook, MD which is right after New Carrolton, MD. Its not more than 3 miles up the line and is a MARC station. I installed portals at the end so when I test signalling it wont screw up. I promise I will try to finish all scenery before I expand north because, I need to pace myself. I just figured that I needed at least two stops along the electrified line to be sufficent for the phase 1 release.

Also, with the trees working nicely scenery is going great and at a slightly quicker pace. This does not mean I will set a release date for phase 1.

Pictures maybe this weekend (however I will be quite busy with Boy Scouts stuff.

Anyways, any help with those questions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Davis

I have a nice gravel road without traffic I've edited. However I haven't gotten the OK to release it yet. Once I do you can use it. I'll dig up a pic of it.

Oh sorry:

All you do is place one of the invisible stations and connect the tracks to it. Then you can build the station up around that. Im not near Trainz right now so Im sorry I cant really get into detail.

Thanks

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And your doing all of this work for FREEEEEE.
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I work in New Carrollton MD, so the "big buildings" you need to model next to the New Carrollton train station is where I work. I live near the RF&P West of Widewater crossing. So what your designing is my area. Pretty COOL.

Additions if you would like to plug them out outside the NEC scope are:
CSX Alexandria Extension from JD tower (Hyatesville MD) to LaFant Plaza and across Long Bridge to RO Tower. Anacostica and Chesapeake Junction have been totally reworked the past couple of years.

Then pick up the RF&P at RO interlocking north of Crystal City and take it all the way south to Fredericksburg.

And you could also throw in CSX to Frederick MD and CSX to Baltimore MD. But that is asking for a lot seeing as how you have already designed the whole of the NEC.

I like Trainz 2006, I tried Trainz 2009 but just had problems with it and have reverted back to Trainz 2006. I like Marias Pass Route and am always looking for other GOOD routes. I think yours will fit that bill. Especially since it's my area and I'm familar with the surroundings.

Soooo, CONGRADULATIONS. We should all pitch in and get you and award.

Looking forward to further updates.

Well congrats are in store for you too. It's awsome to see such talent, and cool that a product like Trainz is out there in an open source format to allow that talent to be utilized.
Me I'm a computer type, but more get the widget delivered and maintained. Plus I can't draw worth beans. But I do like to run a choo choo from time to time and if I'm passing an area that i'm familar with, all the better.
I know that Penn/B&O/RF&P is outside the scope of the NEC. But it would be SWEET if that project was taken on also. Think of how cool it would be to be north of Chesapeake Junction with a Metro train coming in from the East on the overhead from RFK, an Acela Train on the NEC, and a CSX coal drag, all at the same time. Sweet.
Keep up the good work and if you need pics of the area, let me know.
Though with Amtraks new rules you can't take pics from Station platforms.
But I could take pics of VRE stations and such.
Keep up the good work.
Rusty

Also, if you had a web page, like Googles Picasa, you could post pics of your updates, that would be cool. That way you would not have to post them here, you could just say "New Pics" check um out here....... That sort of thing.

Well Rusty you defiantly sound interested and btw I responded to your PM via e-mail.

Anyways, in regards to that thing from Hyattesville, I have that built I just havent done scenery yet. I made both the bypass around town through Anacostia Yards and the leads up to Union Station so you can go North of Washington either way.

In regards to those other projects I will consider them but my main priority is to keep plugging away at what I have and then later put on additions. And gandalf has already made some branches like the Princeton Dinky that I will throw in to add to the whole ecpeirence. Follow his SLE project that will be incorporated in at some point.

If I need some pics Ill definatly turn to you. One thing that I really need is I know VRE is adding additional platforms on the Fredericksburg line. I think Burke, VA is one of those. So if I could get pics of construction like that that would be great.

Notice how Im being as up to date as possible. I replaced the gauntlet track at NCR with brand new concrete track just like the prototype.

Happy trainizing and if you have any other question dont hesitate to ask!

Just checked the pics, very cool indeed. I guess I was expecting scenery, that shows how wet behind the ears I am. A good map starts out with a good track. I will see what I can do for pics. I know that the WOODBRIDGE VA Amtrak/VRE station is adding a platform on the West side of the RF&P tracks. This will allow Amtrak/VRE trains to not have to handle passengers on the East side track, which I think is 2 and the west bound is 3, but I'm not positive. It will be the same design that is at Springfield and Rippon Landing. I'm not sure about Burke. I used to live there and my sister still does, so I'm still back at their area often. I know that they added a big multi level parking deck at Burke Center. But not sure about additional platforms. Note that Burke is on the NS line from Alexandria to Manassas. At this point I don't think it's hardly in use by NS as the Van Dorn piggy back area is now closed, or at least was heading that direction due to lack of traffic. So I would not expect you to be modeling.
An excellent page to get pics from is:
http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/locationList.aspx?Level=3&ID=VA,US
another is
http://www.railpictures.net/

But if you need something specific, let me know. Plus with google maps and now multimap you can almost beam yourself there.

Keep up the good work.
Rusty

Thanks rusty for the help! I think I meant Leeland, VA I dunno where Burke came from, lol! I might get some more scenery up for ya this weekend.

Awsome pictures. I can see that your plugging along with scenery updates, very nice.
I went to the VRE web page and just saw an article about the parking lot being expanded, but no talk about the station itself being expanded. I did find this article about Woodbrige VA that might help.
http://www.vre.org/about/cip/woodbridge-expansion.html

Let me know what specific things you need pictures of and I'll either do some internet hunting, look through my own pics, or go out and take some shots, so you have them.
